Survivor At their best!! I had this tape as a kid and loved it. It's next to impossible to find now though. Saw it on eBay for $64 in mint condidion, but I got outbid! AAARRRGGGHHHH! Anyway, this is a must have for any Survivor fan. Great vocals and even better guitars and lyrics

From: Jezzer Date: March 31, 2002 at 16:58
buy the reissue - released last year

From: Reno Date: May 3, 2002 at 0:11
I had this also when I was younger. I'm still hunting for a cd version of it. I have the songs downloaded, but would like an original cd. Very catchy songs on this cd. Great guitars and vocals as well. I wonder why it never was that big. It's very close to Vital Signs and the other early Survivor cd's

Survivor's darkest album and the final chapter in the band's first "era", if you will. "Caught in the Game" has my favorite Survivor guitar riff of all-time. "Santa Ana Winds" is a haunting masterpiece, right up there with Axe's "Silent Soldiers". "I Never Stopped Loving You" sounds like an early draft of "The Search is Over". All in all, this is a solid work and a very underrated album in their catalog.

From: ThunderDan Date: June 30, 2002 at 14:10
Certainly my favorite of the Bickler years. This album rocks like hell! As heavy as many of the songs are, my fave is actually 'Jackie Don't Go'. Great tune. 'Caught in the Game' is a close second fave. 'Half-Life' is my least fave song.

From: Steve T Date: July 28, 2002 at 13:50
Great album....HUGELY underrated. Santa Ana Winds is just amazing.

From: RichieRocker Date: August 12, 2002 at 20:49
"Caught in the Game is my Favorite song on this album hands down.

From: RichieRocker Date: October 30, 2002 at 7:45
Hey why did John Bickler leave the band? does anybody know why?

From: MelodicRocker Date: November 19, 2002 at 17:07
Dave Bickler had to leave Survivor due to problems with his vocal chords. That's at least what the papers said 19 years ago (oh folks, think I'm gettin' old, haha). He re-joined the band in the late 80's for a Greatest Hits album where he was singing 2 new songs, only released there. Btw, had the chance to see Survivor live with Dave and later with Jimi Jamison - i like both lead vocalists. Today's my day - just have won an auction for the Japanese Version of "Caught in the Game" on eBay for unb

... for unbelievable $ 10.50 !!! This album is in my opinion Survivor's AOR gem of the Bickler days.

From: freddy de keyze Date: February 25, 2003 at 10:45
A band that has its place in history, concerning AOR. And this is a little gem, fantastic AOR, the way we hear it no longer these days ! The follow ups to this one are at least as good, so you can imagine what a great band this is. Hope to hear finally new stuff from these guys. BUY !!!

From: indio Date: April 24, 2003 at 18:05
geniales como siempre!!!gran sonido y gran voz!!un cd y sobretodo un grupo muy recomendado!!!keep the eye of the tiger!

From: freddy de keyze Date: May 29, 2003 at 11:36
Great to see 'em back in the top 25 !! But who knows what's happening now with these AOR heroes ? Are they still in the business ? A new CD in the pipeline ? Hope so !

From: Chris Date: June 5, 2003 at 22:43
Survivor are still together, but a new album seems a long way off at the moment. Jamison is the singer, and Frankie Sullivan is back in the band. A whole album was recorded back in 93/4 when Bickler was back in the band, the album was called 'Fire makes steel'. Although the album has never been officially released, it is widely available (or at least was) through certain file sharing programmes on the internet. It is well worth tracking down.

Thanks for the information, Chris and indeed we should email to each other because our taste of music is very common indeed ! You can mail me on freddydekeyzer@hotmail.com ! Till soon ! Other people also welcome, even if they 'hate'me. No hard feelings against someone, only (sometimes) big differences about musical taste, but hey, it's nice to discuss that !

Love that song "CAUGHT IN THE GAME"

From: robert Date: November 27, 2003 at 22:25
Otro buen disco d estos "huidos" ¿Cual creeis q es el mas A.O.R.?

From: XavierCatalunya Date: January 16, 2004 at 19:27
Para mi el mas AOR es WHEN SECONDS COUNT, seguido de VITAL SIGNS. Es que WSC es AOR llevado al extremo, tiene un sonido 1986 inconfundible.

From: MetsDude Date: January 24, 2004 at 13:14
The Frankie Sullivan production on the album was weak. Put that CD on next to Vital Signs (produced by Ron Nevision, whose resume included Heart, Ozzy, Kiss, Jefferson Starship, etc.) and you'll hear the limitations. Songs are good, but there is no "hit single" like their previous album.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 29, 2004 at 1:23
They really almost blew their career with this one. After the success of "Eye Of The Tiger" they put out this very average, non-hit sounding album like MetsDude said. The title track is great, but little else besides "Santa Ana Winds" sticks out. Half-Life is especially bad. 5/10

From: Rockhead Date: June 29, 2004 at 4:19
Disagree with BPK on this one. This was at the time an excellent album of slightly heavier sounding songs and a rawer production than those albums that followed. The title track, Jackie Dont Go and Half Life are my favourites but thisis a very strong album in it's entirety.

From: AOR freaky Date: June 29, 2004 at 7:49
I agree with Rockhead and disagree with Big Papa K : this is a magnificent and 'heavy' record, another milestone in the history of Survivor ! Great record !

From: Dean Date: July 3, 2004 at 2:41
Totally disagree with BPK on this one. Absolutely love this disc. Esp. "Jackie Don't Go" and the title track. Was one of my favorite albums growing up and still sounds great to this day. Superb AOR. 9/10

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: October 14, 2004 at 2:15
OTRO BUEN ALBUM SIN JIMMY PERO CON UN JIM PETERIK QUE DA LA TALLA EL MEJOR ALBUM CON SU ETAPA, ESO SI DESPUES VENDRIA LO MEJOR.

From: swriter Date: March 26, 2005 at 22:08
I love all Survivor and don't make me pick my fav singer, but if I had to, it would be Dave and Eye of the Tiger is a great one and always within arm's reach. This is a very underrated cd in my opinion, not as strong songs as Eye, but very good from start to finish. What a great song Jackie is as well as Caught in the game, Santa Anna!!!!! wow, what a great song and guitar work!!! a bit heavier and less cathcy then Eye, but a good one!!!

From: Lovedrive Date: January 6, 2006 at 7:39
Estoy con Rafo, el mejor de la etapa "PRO-JAMISON". Muy bueno!

From: Clayton77 Date: January 1, 2007 at 11:08
This one is probably the BEST Survivor-Album they ever made. After their brilliant "Eye of the Tiger"-release...this album tops them all!! "Jacky don`t go" keeps you in AOR-Heaven and "Santa Ana Winds" is one of the best melodic-songs ever!!A MUST BUY!!!!!

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: September 20, 2007 at 1:18
Otra obra Maestra de Dave bickel con un tema demoledor "Ready For The Real Thing" y con una balada que me encanta "Santa Ana Winds", impresionante que albunes de los legendarios Survivor.

From: pibe Date: January 16, 2011 at 5:54
el mejor disco con dave bickler, temas maravillosos.no puedo decir mas

From: 707STAR Date: March 4, 2012 at 0:43
WHAT A PHENOMENAL LP THIS WAS. LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC BY MULTI TALENTED ARTISTS. CAUGHT IN THE GAME IS THE COMPLETE MASTERPIECE SONG. SANTA ANA WINDS IS AN AWESOME MELLOW SONG. THESE GUYS HAVE HEART. THEIR GREAT LIVE. DON,T MISS THIS ONE. CERTAINLY 1 OF MY FAVORITE BANDS.

From: elljam Date: June 12, 2012 at 7:01
Strong release with only one weak track which was "What do you really think". The rest of the album is very good & among my favourites are "Jackie don't go", "Santa Ana winds" & "Slander".

From: tomdwa Date: March 28, 2020 at 10:54
The album wasn't as succesful as Eye of the tiger, but is much more solid, with better song compositions. Santa Ana winds might just be the best Survivor song ever, and the album is full of great tracks. To be (re)discovered!
