I really enjoyed this one. It came out as a double album and I played it out. Funny, I would class this as more roots rock or southern in flavour. Fave tracks are 1-4, 8, 11 13 and 15. Some good music here but not everyone's cup of tea. I would rate it a 7/10

From: tomcat Date: May 22, 2002 at 6:32
i do believe this is a better cd than their debut and this album is a classic in my opinion..i recently found a site on them with some new mp3's...don't know where it was but i do know i used www.google.com anyway, killer band.. Doug Banx joined Mr nasty in 1990 who also released one hell of a sleaze rock n roll cd. tomcat@dolfijn.nl

Does anyone know where I can pick up a copy of this. I used to have it on cassette, back in the day. Would love to have a cd or even some mp3's.

Go to http://www.barjohn.com/rcadownload.htm to download 4 Rock City Angels demos made available by the band. I don't own "Young Man's Blues", but I've been able to find 9 of the songs online, and I love the music!!!

From: Johnny Sick Date: June 29, 2003 at 16:34
This LP was great. Any band who has the balls to cover Otis Redding (no matter how poorly the execution) is a band I'll take a bullet for. From the ZZ Top boogie of Deep Inside My Heart and the Stones groove of Hard To Hold to the tear in your beer honky tonk ballad Liza Jo and the desolate mariachi sound of South of the Border it shines from 1st note to last. Personal favorites are Our Little Secret, Boy From Hells Kitchen, Hush Child, and Damned Don't Cry. They were a vastly underrated band.

From: Johnny Sick Date: June 29, 2003 at 16:36
I thought I would also add that Johnny Depp has a writing credit on the song "Mary" and a couple of the tunes on this album were also co-written with later-to-be country music semi-star David lee Murphy. It seems to me like Bobby Durango and the boys weren't just into one kind of music. There was a definite diversity (soul, country, blues, punk) inherently missing in a lot of bands of their genre.

From: matt Date: October 28, 2003 at 11:51
This is an excellent cd. It is a shame one cant' find rock n roll like this any more. Hopefully the band will put out some new material. If you have not heard this cd, pick it up, you will not be disappointed.

Okay people, where the hell can I acquire Young Man's Blues on CD! Simple question, I need a simple answer! E-mail me at: mreo@mac.com

Does anybody know if this band is still out playing clubs or recording anything. This is the best band that never made it big. Bobby Durango has the perfect voice for their blues rock style. If anyone knows if this band is still doing anything please post it on this board. Hopefully, they will release another cd like young mans blues. Lord knows the rock world needs it.

From: Uncle Salty Date: May 3, 2004 at 14:28
Yeah, this album rocks. I found it recently on ebay for 8 dollars and it's just so good that it has become one of my favourite albums from the 80s along with "Appetite for destruction" and others. I recommend all the people that don't own this piece of art to buy this album at any price.

From: FRATELLO Date: September 14, 2004 at 11:21
Jocantaro, Patrick, Johnny Depp's co-wrote song Mary.

From: Geoff Date: September 22, 2004 at 18:30
Faster Pussycat could have been nice to these guys and given them their album title, 'Wake me when it's over' as it would have been perfect for this material. I don't want to get too offensive as it appears as though many like this band and I don't want to start anger. Me, personally, I'd rather nap than listen to this kind of blues flavoured rock... just not a single moment on the CD I enjoyed. If you like Quireboys I guess it's okay. Definately not for big hooks lovers though...

From: bmj Date: October 9, 2004 at 16:31
Rock City Angels have a new release recorded. Bobby Durango wants to put some more final touches on it - so, it may be awhile - but it will be well worth waiting for. This one will be real Angels - not Geffen influenced Angels.

het just wanted to say this to blood hound.thanx for keepin the legacy of the angels alive!that comment that you made about us being the greatest band that never made it is right on the money, thanx bloodhound.i truly believe we were the best band that never made it.because we a a huge record deal and our debut disc for geffen was a double album.that was the only time in history a band debuted with a double album, and everytrack is pure rock n roll in in finest form!thanx blood hound!also to johnn

Thank you for the link. The song was great. Any word on when the cd will be released. Also do you know if it is new material or material that was never before released. If you haven't checked out the new link go. It's vintage Rock City Angels.

Glad you like the song. It was recorded back when RCA was still with Geffen. The big news is that they have been back in the studio and recorded a new 11 song cd "Use Once & Destroy." It needs a little more studio work & remixing - and a label :-) A new RCA website has just launched: http://www.rockcityangels.com Keep an eye on it as all news will be posted there. We've also put four mp3s up - take a look and enjoy

From: lucasgordon Date: November 9, 2006 at 14:26

From: lucasgordon Date: November 9, 2006 at 14:26
En definitiva, para aquellos que se perdieron la oportunidad de tener un disco de culto, esta es su chance, a no perdérsela, porque este disco vale cada nota que se interpreta! lhgordo_at_yahoo.com ************************************************

Album is not bad ZZ TOP meets ASPHALT BALLET, meets BILLY IDOL and OUTLAW BLOOD.

From: rockhardrock Date: March 25, 2009 at 9:10
one of the best sleaze rock albums i've heard. the first track "Deep Inside My Heart" blown me away-the vocal of singer just couldn't be better. "Mary" is awsome ballad-at the begining it started to sound like it belongs to alice in chains hehe. other great tracks: Our Little Secret,Rumblefish,Damned Don't Cry and Hush Child.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 27, 2010 at 19:05
The ZZ Top comparisson is ok and add 2 that some Black Crowes and Cry Of Love type of thing...i remember this band caused quite a fuss in England when this album came out..maybe coz The Quireboys were hittin' hard the local scene and R.C.A were kinda of a healthy competition (the american answer,i mean)..i'm just speculating friends and not for that i'm gonna rip off this band as i'll be as objective as possible and not because The Quireboys dilema...tracks 1,4,6,8,9,11 & 13 are good songs that have a rough and edgy blues sound and of course you'll love but somehow can be at some points, monotonous (a matter of tastes,i guess)so is up to you to buy the album.82/100...Hanoi Rocks,Dogs D'amour,Black Crowes,Cry Of Love,The Quireboys could be,somehow,references...peace!

From: edwithmj Date: March 22, 2014 at 20:22
Wow, I always intended to listen to this one day and wish I'd done earlier. This is some very catchy, rhythmic, blues-flavoured rock & roll in the vein of Faster Pussycat, Jetboy and Electric Angels. Hard to Hold is my current favourite.

From: hair metal again Date: June 26, 2017 at 2:54
ok release for ROCK CITY ANGELS back in 88 and what you d expect from a band with a Geffen deal and such looks would be something big!unfortunately that s not the case here and what is offered is a good one ,but with not any big songs !the sound is somewhere between QUIREBOYS,DOGS D AMOUR,JUNKYARD,ROLLING STONES ,the musicianship is pretty good but it never goes on top and you just keep on listening trying to find a big hook...anyway i m sure that they d be great live ,as they do have a fine rockin vibe!

From: Roxas Date: March 10, 2023 at 11:24
I inherited this CD 20 years ago and played it today. It's pretty good and not what I was expecting. It just amazes me all these bands who were on huge labels like Geffen. So many of them 1989-1992
