Melodic masterpice. One look at the vocals and you know this is quality for fans of ASIA, GTR, BRONZ..

From: koogles Date: July 2, 2002 at 13:37
This is the only CD I own that has a 'director' credit. With a name like W.F. Rimensberger, I envision some rich, (possibly overweight), middle-aged guy who wanted to assemble his 'dream band', scribbled some names on a cocktail napkin and then proceeded to whip out his cheque book. 'Did It All For Love' (featuring John Wetton) is as good as anything he did with Asia. 'Stop', 'Hearts on Fire' and 'Surrender' are musically powerful, but lyrically cliched. The Max Bacon songs are poor man's GTR.

From: Shoenmaker Date: July 3, 2002 at 12:30
Sorry koogles the Max Bacon Song 'It must be love' is one of the finest on this album.

DISCO OBLIGADO PARA EL O LA PERSONA QUE SE DICE AMANTE DEL AOR MELODICO ABSOLUTAMENTE GENIAL COMPRALO! AN OBLIGATE COLLECTORS ITEM FOR AOR FANS, RATING 10/10

From: Andre Tekken Date: August 5, 2002 at 13:56
This album really worth because of outstanding, beautiful, unique melodies of the'Did it all for love'song! And also because of the best by far vocals delivered on this effort by Ray'voice of God'Gillen,on some of the best tracks! This, then is one rare audio document of his more than perfect singing!Recorded right after he left Sabbath!Overall straight foward, melodic, sometimes hard-driving,Night Ranger-like tunes!I give it a 70 thanks to Gillen!

Also a curiosity about this effort is that song I mentioned before'Did it All..'Was used on South America, more properly in Brazil as a soundtrack for a cigarrete(called Hollywood)propaganda!Circa 1987!

From: Gar Date: September 4, 2002 at 18:39
Not as good as it should have been, considering the talent involved. 'Did it All for Love' w/ John Wetton is a must have for ASIA fans, though.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: October 22, 2002 at 3:53

From: Ray Date: November 19, 2002 at 16:37
What happened to the singer from GTR? This reminded me of how good he is...A must for Asia fans. Excellent!!

Simply incredible, Gillen, Hughes, Bacon & Wetton at it´s best!!

From: Allan Jones Date: June 26, 2003 at 11:10
The best track in this album is ' Move You Lose' , Ray Gillen vocals are incredible! Phenomena is a Hard Phenomenon!

From: RR-Finland Date: August 29, 2003 at 15:09
Amazing record! So good tunes on it, smooth vocals, great keyboards and screaming guitars! No Retreat No Surrender is the best!! Only tracks I really don´t like is Jukebox and It Must Be Love. There´s coincidentally Max Bacon on both of these on vocals. He must be related with Kevin Bacon, becouse I don´t notice that guy so high neither.

From: panda Date: January 9, 2004 at 23:28
Where the heck has all of the rock and roll disappeared to? I think it surfaced on this album with a vengeance to anyone who dislikes volume, melody, and impressive musicianship. With the addition of Max Bacon, John Wetton, Glenn Hughes, and oh yes, the golden voice of Ray Gillen, you cannot go wrong here. Listen to No Retreat, No Surrender very LOUD..I guarantee it will get your blood pumping which is what I was brought to believe great music was intended to do..

From: W. F. Rimensber Date: January 14, 2004 at 14:29
I refer to the comments of koogles (---.proxy.aol.com) Date: July 2, 2002. I got involved in Phenomena after starting MetalHammer magazine in the UK and looking for exciting projects which I could associate my magazine. I secured Phenomena the world-wide recording and publishing deal with BMG, got musicians like John Wetton, Ray Gillan, Glen Hughes, Scott Gorham, Brian May etc involved and spent night after night in the studio guiding the production after working during the day on MetalHammer ma

Great 80s album, cool AOR and includes the much missed Ray Gillen....

From: F. Renner Date: August 29, 2004 at 10:26
Phenomena I and II are brilliant albums. Specifically II! Thereafter this exciting project never brought back anything like it. And I wonder whether it ever will do again? Phenomena II has an exciting mix of people (production, background of musicians), voices (those voices of Wetton, Gillen, Hughes) and is still the showcase for the potential of the project. At that time they must have had some sort of guidance that has been missing ever since. The lyrics have not improved and we are all still

From: ChrisSlade Date: December 9, 2004 at 21:02
The album simply blew me away, just like the first one! All my favourite vocalists, and SO POWERFUL!!! Cant say I was as big a fan of the third Phenomena release, though....

From: pompeius Date: November 30, 2005 at 21:11
I like this. I shouldn't comment after only one spin, but it reminded me of some thoughts I was already having on why I tend to prefer what I would loosely call 70's pomp over 80's AOR. This cd sounds great, but didn't really grab me. I think that is because by this era the hooks were often more in anthemic choruses, rather than in guitar or key riffs, instrumentation by the 80's was used more for atmosphere and rythym. Older pomp was more proggy and complex, but often comparitively awkward too.

From: pompeius Date: November 30, 2005 at 21:21
to continue the thoughts above,I think ones preference might be somewhat generational. Pomp served as a compromise between me and my girlfriends back then (between Sabbath and Manilow), and was therefore by default the soundtrack for many good times. This is one of it's appeals now, nostalgia. True, it was cheesy at times, bombastic at others, but both sexes could enjoy it. AOR might have served a similar function in the 80's. Just a theory. This is a good, well produced cd, symphonic & smooth.

DISCO FANTASTICO CLASICO 100%...ESTE PROYECTO FUE CONCEBIDO POR DESTACADOS MUSICOS CON ESTILOS QUE VAN DESDE ROCK SINFONICO AL CLASICO HARDROCK-AOR.TODOS LOS TEMAS BIEN LOGRADOS Y PENSADOS PARA HACERTE PASAR BUENOS MOMENTOS SOLO ESCUCHA ALGUNOS TEMAS COMO "NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER","DID IT ALL FOR LOVE" O "EMOTION MAMA" Y PENSARAS LO MISMO. BRILLANTE. 9.5/10

From: SangreAzulForever Date: September 1, 2006 at 17:29
Their best made. The album is brilliant from the start to the end. I specially would like to hightlight the songs "stop", "surrender", "no retreat no surrender" and the incredible "move-you lose" in which Badland´s ex-frontman prints magic though all the song. A must. 9.5/10.

From: Lovedrive Date: June 28, 2007 at 11:24
Para mi su mejor disco con temazos como Stop, Did it all for love y sobretodo HEARTS ONF FIRE. Recomendadísimo!

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: June 29, 2007 at 20:33
FANTASTIC!!! DISCO IMPRESCINDIBLE

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: October 9, 2007 at 3:04
HUGE CD 95/100 One of the best true AOR album of the 80's RAY GILLEN & GLENN HUGHES are so good they can sing the phonebook and make something great with it ! but here is not the case as each song it's a jewel ! If you don't have this masterpiece then you don't have a real MELODIC ROCK/HARD ROCK collection buy it now !

From: iridion666 Date: November 4, 2007 at 17:14

A good follower 2nd disc by this project/band Phenomena...some killer songs in the shape of "Surrender","Hearts Of Fire","Jukebox" & "No Retreat,No Surrender"...in general lines the whole album can be described as pleasant...plenty of talented and experienced musicians in here and that makes you at least want to listen to good music, that's what you get actually ...87/100

From: petermexico13 Date: November 10, 2016 at 13:45
