From: Renato Date: December 8, 2001 at 20:12
On this ominous album Yngwie reaches his full potential as a performer of his songs. A work of art.

From: Date: December 10, 2001 at 15:08
Malmsteen offers superb Wagnerian and majestic metal songs, along with fine musicians as Soto,Johanson bros and Jacob.

From: Dragonfly Date: December 15, 2001 at 9:05
Yngwie is one of the names that put Swedish rock on the map besides Europe. A true masterpiece. No other guitarist can touch his work.

From: SebShred Date: December 22, 2001 at 13:12
Unreachable ..The best Yngwie album...His playing is superb and Soto stands as one of the best metal voices

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: June 14, 2002 at 14:18
I don't understand? How come Malmsteen has a page here and Joe Satriani and Steve Vai do not? Malmsteen may be fast, but all around I think that Satriani is skies above Yngwie! On my list of guitar players Malmsteen wouldn't even be on there. I know that some of you might think I am crazy, but the truth is I don't like his style. The bottom line here is, give Satriani & Vai a page on this site.

I think this is the best Malmsteen album, If you hear this album you'll know why Jeff Scott Soto is one of the best Rock singers ever. Jeff Rules!!!!

From: zakar Date: September 1, 2002 at 4:39
still with alcatrazz style, but with more yngwie

From: Date: February 9, 2003 at 12:55

From: RR-Finland Date: August 28, 2003 at 4:31
Great second album, better than first one. So powerfull and strong.

From: diego Date: November 14, 2003 at 18:25

Motley, you are of course welcome to your opinions, no reason ta kill ya for that. IMHO it's kinda like comparing apples to oranges (or in your case perhaps smørrebrød to pickled herring... ). I've always been a fan of both VH & YM, depends on the mood I'm in. Sadly I have to agree with the fact that YM's a bit repetitive with his solos, but I still like him anyway. This is my second favorite by him, my first being Trilogy.

From: dody Date: April 7, 2004 at 9:09
the great f*ckin' song

From: Big Papa K Date: June 14, 2004 at 2:03
This album starts off great with "I'll See The Light Tonight", but slows down after this as Malmsteen runs into a patter that affects most of his albums, a strong start and the rest of the album is very inconsistent. 6/10

From: Metalmania Date: September 18, 2004 at 23:46
Just saw the video for "I'll See The Light, Tonight"...is that really JSS in the video cause it sure doesn't look like him or has his stage presence? Anybody know for sure?

From: CHIRO Date: October 2, 2004 at 8:25
This is a good album...but not its best...I think that malmsteen got better with the years...Albums like SEVENTH SIGN MAGNUS OPUS and FACING THE ANIMAL..Prove it...I don't think that jeff was the best singer...I'd prefer Mats Levens or Mike vescera....But that's my opinion..It doesn't mean i'm the right one

From: Propane Date: November 30, 2004 at 18:25
This man has perfected the art of technical guitar, without interference. Most excellent album.

From: Metalhead66 Date: December 23, 2004 at 13:20
More tasty noodlin in here have a can of Chef-boy-rd! Full of flavor and tone...a Guitar Players Buffet....grab a plate, sit a spell, y'all come bach hear!!9/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: Geoff Date: January 4, 2005 at 6:24
Same story as the debut. I understand why musicians like and appreciate this kind of stuff, but for the kids like me who like to hear a good song, this just escapes me. Once agan, a whole album passes and not a thing sticks in my mind.

From: "el gran Ñako" Date: October 16, 2005 at 5:58
I’ll see the light, I’m a Viking...”

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: October 29, 2007 at 11:57

From: metalhead4life Date: December 16, 2008 at 10:46
This second album has vocals on the majority of songs (unlike his first one which is a great guitar instrumental cd with only 2 songs that h ave vocals). Jeff Scott Soto of course sounds good and the songs are great. Malmsteen shreds it up like his usual. The Johansson brothers are great as well. There are plenty of melodies and catchy songs on here that hit hard. It's fine Melodic Metal as categorized above. The 85/100 seems about right but I'll give 88/100 since it's Yngwie!

From: george_the_jack Date: May 6, 2009 at 10:11
This one along with Odyssey are the best releases of the swedish guitar wizard!

From: rbrigade Date: October 21, 2009 at 6:16
Geoff if you don't hear great songs on this album then you definitely have to get your ears chcked! Just listen to Don't let it end or I am a viking. My guess is you don't like metal.

From: halfordhughes Date: April 25, 2011 at 11:11
