|Amidst the other hair bands in the late 80's, Cats In Boots were gravely overlooked. They were, perhaps, the most underrated metal band of the late 80's. Joel Ellis has a killer rock 'n' roll voice and the riffs on this cd are incredible. I envy anybody who owns an original copy of this cd. I never bought one, but now I wish I had. Like the first Love/Hate cd, I consider it a collector's item!
||Date: April 18, 2001 at 14:25|
|Not a great band, but they could have been. Shotgun Sally is worth the price you might pay for this one alone. 7.5 for sure.
||Date: April 21, 2001 at 9:27|
|An absolutely superb album in every department with riffs to die for, especially on the tracks Shotgun Sally and Bad Boys Are Back. I strongly urge anyone into this genre to get themselves a copy of this cd.
||Date: May 2, 2001 at 8:18|
|if you dont like this album you have a problem for sure!
||Date: July 20, 2001 at 6:11|
|The classical 80's glam rock band. Not too hard, not too pop. 'Shotgun Sally' , 'Nine Lives' and 'Judas Kiss' are good hardrockin' tracks and the singer is heavily influenced by VInce Neil.
||Date: July 29, 2001 at 22:06|
|At times they beat Motley crue at their own game!!!
||Date: October 31, 2001 at 12:12|
|I picked this one up about 4 years ago for $1.00 on cd!!! There are no punchholes. You can hear the Motley Crue influence, especially on "Shot Gun Sally". Great cd and a must have!
||Date: January 12, 2002 at 9:58|
|"every sunrise" is a killer ballad. the entire cd is killer. ALso look for Heavy Bones, the vocalist of cats in boots is doing a killer job on this cd.. email@example.com

|Great "one-album wonder." They also released an EP earlier on. I would give my first-born for that one.
||Date: February 22, 2002 at 22:47|
|This is a great album!!!!!!! I own two copy's of the cd,and would buy another if I saw it.
||Date: April 25, 2002 at 9:38|
|A collection of fun, energetic, bluesy hard rock. Half-American & Half-Japanese, "Cats N Boots" broke down the barriers of having different languages and cultures. A stripped down, off-the-cuff sleaze rock with speedy riffs and power packed live performences!!! This is one of my all time fav's!!!
||Date: April 25, 2002 at 22:32|
|Great!! Joel Ellis has a fantastic sleaze metal voice, and the songs have a lot more edge than most similar bands of the time. Could've been another Guns N Roses.

|What a load of bollocks. Poo!
||Date: June 2, 2002 at 16:01|
|I remember the opening to this video. I had a chick in prison or something. I don't know the album at all but, I think this band is somewhat like Faster Pussycat. The video turned me off so I never looked into this band. I really like Faster Pussycat though, so maybe I would have enjoyed this album??
||Date: June 2, 2002 at 16:02|
|Oh, by the way, the video was "Shot Gun Sally".
|From: Cotton C. Lover

|The only one I could really get into was the song "coast to coast". Heavy bones is better imo.
||Date: June 24, 2002 at 20:29|
|Cats in Boots was like one of Faster Pussycat's dirty little kittens. (G)litter-trained but couldn't write a hook to save their 9 lives. Still, there's a lot of attitude going on here... something that I miss in current music. As an AOR guy, hearing Cats in Boots today is like running into that old classmate you used to think was REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING, and discovering that, not only is he not as obnoxious as you remembered him, but in some weird way, you almost miss those bygone idiocies.
||Date: June 25, 2002 at 6:19|
|The guitarist in this band Takashi O'Hashi was in another band back in the hey day. They were a Sleaze/Hard Rock band called Slumlords and the cd is mega hard to find. Surprised that they aren't on this great web-site.
||Date: June 25, 2002 at 18:41|
|Just got a cd by a Japanese Band called Tilt Trick. One track has the singer from Cats In Boots joining on vocals. Does anyone know how many cd`s Tilt Trick has made.????

|Kim, Tilt Trick has two albums! One is "Iwo Jima" and the other is "Hiroshima" AND both albums BOMBED!! (get it?)
||Date: June 25, 2002 at 19:13|
|Got it Jason. But the one I have is NOT called either of the ones you mention.So they must have made atleast 3. On the album 2-3 tracks are great. the reat suxx.

|KIM, do you know anything about World War 2? You know, the year 1945?.......... What I was telling you was all just a joke! OHHHHH!?..... Thats right! You are not from America are you. You may not understand what I was getting at. ..............Nevermind.
|From: jason (FA - Q)
||Date: June 25, 2002 at 22:59|
|Desslar? Are you sure about that? I really like Faster Pussycat. Do you really think that Cats In Boots is that much better? If so, tell me why.
||Date: June 26, 2002 at 2:25|
|Jason............Just as I posted the reply I got the joke. LOL. Im not American. Have a great day.
||Date: June 26, 2002 at 11:11|
|All a matter of opinion, but the only Pussycat album I've heard (Wake Me...) didn't interest me that much. The songs just didn't seem very catchy, and Taime's vocals kind of annoy me. Cats in Boots is just fun rock'n'roll, raw and sleazy. It's not genius, but very energetic and entertaining.

|Cats N' Boots had a lot of GREAT potential. I have a copy of Kicked N' Klawed on cassette (imagine that) and I absolutely love it. Its too bad this band didn't get more exposure, they KICK ASS!!
||Date: August 6, 2002 at 11:58|
|Put Motley Crue, Faster Pussycat, L.A guns and all the other L.A sleaze bands in a recording studio and the result is these guys. The best rock album of the 80's ( well 1 of many ). Sorted !
||Date: August 13, 2002 at 11:46|
|This shit sucks !!! if you think this crap is any good you sure are tone deaf!!!!!!!!! buy slashes new album it rocks!!!
||Date: August 20, 2002 at 18:55|
|I agree with half of the above comment - Slash's new album kicks much ass - but Cats in Boots does as well, just in a different way. It has a raw, unpolished feel that makes it what I call an "underground classic." I pesonally love it because it's one of those rarities that rocked with the best of the big names like Crue, Cinderella and Skid Row. Definitely worth picking up! I gave it an 8.5.
||Date: August 26, 2002 at 10:45|
|another japan musician (some of them -- are they loudness' friends?), but they play motley crue style. shotgun sally is a good song

|Hey guys...glad to know I still got some fans out there. Thanks. I took some time away on the east coast and I'll be back at it soon with a new release. Talkin to a big label now. Jam from CinB's has a great band in Japan called the Outsiders...where he actually sings! He's doing great and does shows with "TILT" once in a while...those guys were a hell of a lot of fun touring with us in Japan back in the day. ho knows maybe Jam and I will be in the studio together soon. No chance of me and Hoey

|WOW!!!! Im very impressed with these guys. They are a tight band with a great attitude for kickin ass. "Shot Gun Sally" is very intense and I would love to hear more about these guys and I need to obtain this cd.
||Date: September 13, 2002 at 9:46|
|Well I look forward to hearing new material. Keep up those killer sleaze vocals!!
|From: Trick Taylor
||Date: December 31, 2002 at 19:35|
|This is a Trick Top 10 fer sure. To compare them to Slower Pussycat would be like comparing "Appetite" to "Hysteria"! "Coast to Coast" has more hyper injected sleeze boogie passion than anything the bloated drugged out Crue ever could muster. I also have a copy of "Last Works", but that pretty much blows. Some alterna-jazz-metal jerkin off on Joel's part. "Shotgun Sally" (video) was seizure inducing and silly. "Her Monkey" was much better. This is a must have fer all sleezers!
||Date: January 11, 2003 at 12:52|
|Could it be happened?!!!??For first time I CAN SAY THAT IN SOME WAY I AGREE WITH TRICK TAYLOR (except the silly compares about Appetite and Hysteria).Faster than pussycats(but also a great band) these guys can bring up with their music attitude even the deads.10+ on ArxontaS scale...Absolutely No Alternative...

|I was lucky enough to obtain a Japanese copy of "Kicked and Clawed".It has a bonus track called "Tokyo Screamin'" on it. I LOVE THAT CD! IT KICKS MAJOR ASS! They should have been famous!Joel Ellis is very talented and he is GORGEOUS!The guitars on the cd SMOKE!Joel is one of my favorite singrs.I liked him in Heavy Bones.I heard through a couple other websites recently he is supposed to go back to Japan for a Cats in Boots reunion tour.He is far too talented not to keep singing.Keep rocking!

|Greg Stearns said "I envy anybody who owns an original copy of this cd. I never bought one, but now I wish I had. Like the first Love/Hate cd, I consider it a collector's item!". Goddamn, he's right. I got this cd and it's one of my favorite. Energy, great riffs, killer vocalist, everything with cats in boots makes you wanna rock. I wish to listen to bands like this more often.
||Date: April 28, 2003 at 14:38|
|This band to me sounds like if the Crue married G&R and had a fling with Poison. Killer album here with riffs galore. The kind of album that makes you ponder "How could this NOT have been popular in 89'??". Vastly overlooked and the only reason I heard about this in 2003 was seeing the video for "Shotgun Sally" on VH1 Classic and thinking "gotta have this". It has aged well and like I said previously just has hooks and riffs everywhere. Shame there wasn't a second album!!!
||Date: May 13, 2003 at 20:20|
|i think this album was pretty good as well...has anyone ever heard the band "heavy bones"?...it has the same singer in it...its a very good c.d.
||Date: June 3, 2003 at 2:04|
|whaa, you have to be kidding me. two words ultimate cheese.
||Date: June 10, 2003 at 4:32|
|I still enjoy the 80's sound every now an then. I look through my old cassettes before I go for a road trip or mow the lawn, and I reach for a few of them time and time again. I still love, Siagon Kick's first one, Spreadeagle, and Cats N Boots. These guys had the hooks, the singer had that raunchy voice, and the songs were fun to sing along to. I'd love to see them live. Maybe they could pull together and jump on the Metal Sludge Summer 2003 tour!
||Date: July 19, 2003 at 11:04|
|Just got this cd recently. I love it, it's one of the best cd's I've heard in a long time, It really blew me away. When the singer Goes: "Ooooohhh Such a Wreck" in "Shotgun Sally", It reminds me of "You're Invited But Your Friend Can't Come", when Vince Neil goes: "Or Your Mama Too", actually the 2 songs sounds very similar, I think. Anyway It's one hell of a cd, and fave tracks are: 1,3,5,8 and 9. But they all REALLY rock!!!
||Date: July 19, 2003 at 13:30|
|Wish I'd known you needed it Kristian- I'd given you mine for free. I didn't care for these guys. "Shotgun Sally" is okay at best IMHO.
||Date: July 19, 2003 at 15:01|
|Thanx anyway TIM!
||Date: November 20, 2003 at 22:46|
|Probably the best sleaze rock album ever!
||Date: November 26, 2003 at 3:53|
|When I started buying cd's off of ebay, this is the first cd I went after...I'm a fan of all glam/sleaze rock, and if you are too you'll like this cd. The sound is definitely sleaze, high energy revved up Motley Crue meets Skid Row. Great riffs!!!!
||Date: November 26, 2003 at 19:30|
|Haven't listened to this for years but I remember it had a atrange, sleazy sort of appeal. Good stuff.Imagine a band like this signing to EMI Records now? Oh how times change.

||Date: February 16, 2004 at 4:01|
|not a good first release.would have been interesting to hear the next cd if they had the chance.hey monkey,to me-is the only reason to get it,if you can find it.like shotgun messiah,they could of created something new for hard rock at the time.the singer would later sing in heavy bones,featuring frankie banali(quiet riot) & gary hoey.THAT cd is definitly worth getting for so many reasons.10 times better than c.i.b.i found out that heavy bones broke up because of the singers attitude.drag...
||Date: February 16, 2004 at 12:32|
|Total kick ass sleaze. I actually like Joel's vocals on this one way better than on the Heavy Bones disc. "Shotgun Sally" is classic. The first Faster Pussycat is better than this one but this still kicks ass.
||Date: March 4, 2004 at 16:32|
|someone who wants to buy an original copy of this can join me at firstname.lastname@example.org.. great band..
||Date: March 13, 2004 at 22:37|

|THIS CD REALLY KICKS SOME SERIOUS ASS.
||Date: January 17, 2005 at 22:42|
|Faster Pussycat on steroids I say. Good time and fun - great for those depressing dark nights especially with a bottle of Newky Brown.
||Date: January 27, 2005 at 4:34|
|I was not too impressed with this cd, Shot Gun Sally was a good song but none of the other songs seemed to be as good as that one. The cds kind of dull.
||Date: February 12, 2005 at 17:51|
|One of the best albums of all time....................simple as that.
||Date: February 21, 2005 at 9:57|
|Although I don't share Cadburys' enthusiasm, I did enjoy this album. Her Monkey, Every Sunrise (ballad), and Bad Boys highlight this decent sleaze glam effort. Nothing that had not been done before, but I respect the band's attempts to make their own contribution to the genre. Certainly not essential, but definitely recommended for fans of this kind of hard rock.
||Date: March 7, 2005 at 6:34|
|This is one of those CDs I would have preferred to have kept, but I traded it ages ago. I admit I don't like it at all, but it's nice to have in the collection. Whilst I love the vocals on Heavy Bones, I must admit the vocals are what turned me off this release. I'm a huge fan of glam / sleaze, but just couldn't find anything on this disc to take home with me. No killer songs, IMO.

|A third-rate Faster Pussycat... and FP aren't exactly brilliant.
||Date: August 2, 2005 at 4:06|

||Date: August 31, 2005 at 16:22|
|Rock 'N' Roll without doubts.Good work guys!
||Date: October 8, 2005 at 12:37|
|It seems people take this to seriously. Yeah we all know about the cheesy hair metal, so what. I loved the record though I personaly found it uneven especially on the 2nd side. Evil Angel never liked but again their is something about this cd that had a groove that once it attached, boy it was fun. Fun and remember guys this music is 80's metal. Not intelligent but who cares. I have heard far more cheesy metal than this. They weren't totally glammed out. ShotGun...Yeah !

|Gotta love the Cats in Boots. Kicked and Klawed is one of my favorite albums. Great vocals....songs filled with filled with killer riffs and hooks, not many discs today can top this. Should have been huge.
||Date: January 3, 2006 at 12:59|
|Great Sleazie Band...Very under-rated!! Great Songs,Great Playin, Great Sound....It needs to be Re-released with bonus tracks.... Should have made them a big band..it was passed over I guess...
||Date: February 22, 2006 at 14:34|
|Aside from "Shotgun Sally," listening to this was about as much fun as listening to a yowling tomcat with its tail stuck in a meat-grinder. This is insanely overrated, lacking good hooks and good songs (save for the aforementioned one). They should've been given the boot when they entered the studio and told to not come back 'til they wrote some songs worth recording. Comparisons to Motley, Poison, etc. are empty, 'cause while they played in the same genre, they're nowhere near the same league.
||Date: June 5, 2007 at 9:46|
|Let's see Joel Ellis was in Heavy Bones and they were a awesome band. Anyway I digress....this is an awesome album overall with kick ass guitars and smokin vocals. They could have been big if they had been marketed better from the label. A must have for any sleaze/hard rock fan. 9/10 f
||Date: July 11, 2008 at 23:24|
|Shotgun Sally, Her Monkey, and Heaven on a Heartbeat are the standout tracks for me, but most of them are worth listening to. Actually, Every Sunrise is pretty much the only song I skip. Definitely worth buying!

|This is an amazing album, I'm currently looking for the Japan release that includes a bonus track. The guitar riffs are simply in your face sleaze metal at its finest. Although album is great from start to finish i can never get enough of Shotgun Sally Her Monkey & Judas Kiss. The overal sound as mentioned earlier is similar to that of Faster Pussycat, a little L.A. Guns, and some CRUE. A must have for any 80's Sleaze Metal fan. The guitarist has been very active this year and just finished doing a 25th year reunion tour with a Japanese Metal band called SEIKIMA II under the name JAIL O'hashi. He just released a solo collaboration album as well called "Independent Souls Union". For those interested Takashi O'hashi does have an official facebook page under that name. I got to see Randy the drummer of Cats in Boots at SEIKIMA II Dallas, TX live. Very awesome and down to earth guy.

|This album is a relentless barrage sleaze/rock/glam (whatever you want to pigeonhole it as). Best listened to loud... Coast to Coast, Shotgun Sally, Long, Long Way From Home & Heaven on a Heartbeat tear along... whilst 'Every Sunrise' sits up there as one of the best ballads ever committed to disc. (tongue in cheek)I believe owning and realising the greatness of this album indicates you are more evolved than other rockers...
