Is that your rating of 9.5?

From: nitrodoll Date: September 9, 2002 at 6:28
great masterpiece of melodic rock..just look at the cover of 4 longhaired dudes checking out the hot girl...(or vica versa) anyhow, this album is so good i still get my kicks out of songs like 'nobody moves', 'right on the line of love', 'ladies of the night' and 'hand over fist' a 9 on a scale of 10... whatever happened to theze guys? nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

From: TIM Date: September 14, 2002 at 0:19
Yeah, that was my rating David. Nobody Moves is great as Nitrodoll pointed out. I liked them all. Very fun album. I need to find some more of their albums.

And the year was 1988-GREAT ALBUM

From: Jayglam@hotmail Date: March 17, 2003 at 12:18
Cool melodic rock. Great songs. I love the ballad How did Love just fade away. Underated band. jay from australia

Finally located a copy of this, what an awesome sound! it was well worth the search. great cd! I know its tough but this one needs to be on every wantlist that likes good hard rockin hair metal!!!

From: TIM Date: March 25, 2003 at 20:35
Thanks for mentioning this one MButt. Had to pull it out again. What an album!

From: MButt Date: March 25, 2003 at 21:56
yeah Tim, one of my all time favs. I just got concrete jungle -s/t in as well. not as good as wear n tear but worth the search in my opinion.. Keep rockin' dude!!!

From: David Date: March 26, 2003 at 1:15
TIM, do you think this album is as good as that Rock Candy album?

From: TIM Date: March 26, 2003 at 1:57
I was thinking today while I listened to this that anyone who liked it would like Rock Candy. This is very good but I'd say Rock Candy is a smidge better. I don't know- that's a tough one.

From: tomcat Date: March 26, 2003 at 9:49
rock candy versus concrete jungle...hard one...kinda similar style but if i have to chose i go for concrete jungle...anyhow,did they release more than one album and can anyone give me more info on them?? Thanxx tomcat@dolfijn.Nl

From: Jayglam Date: April 9, 2003 at 5:33
I would go for Rock Candy slightly over Concrete Jungle. Rock Candy sucker for a pretty face is a gem every song is catchy and strong where Concrete Jungle about 800f the songs are killer. Jay from Australia.

I just wanted, as the former bassist of Concrete Jungle, to thank everyone for all of the positive comments about me old band. There are some other songs that we recorded that would have been for our second album. I'm in a new (very different) band called MAYBE PETE now. So, check out our website, and the next 'Bino's Corner' will be about how to get a hold of them... Just don't choke when you see what I look like now!- PEACE!!! (And thanks again!)

From: Benn Date: June 26, 2003 at 23:56
I really like this album, but it comes NOWHERE close to being as good as Rockcandy. In my opinion, Rockcandy is the best band to NEVER have been released on cd, along with Reckless- No Frills.

From: JLPRocks Date: June 27, 2003 at 9:33
Another one of those 'Is it worth the hype of money' cds. And in my estimation it's worth every damn penny!!! A superb Indie that obviously got lost in the shuffle back in the day! This one rocks...and has some damn fine songs to boot!! It's a pity locating one is about as easy as finding a needle in a haystack....but it'll be worth it when you do find one!! Easily a 9/10

From: Mike Date: July 14, 2003 at 12:40
I'm sorry, but NO CD is worth $200-300 or more! I'm sure this is a Great CD, but there are hundreds of great CD's out there for a reasonable cost. More power to the seller who is getting someone to pay an insane cost. Shame on the buyer(s) who are paying this amount and driving up the cost.

From: MButt Date: July 14, 2003 at 15:19
I agree with JLProcks, this cd is worth every penny you might pay for it. unlike some of the other biggies. I disagree with 'Mike', for saying shame on the buyer who drives up the cost. have you heard this cd? it blows away the 'hundreds' of great cd's you mentioned. get it and listen to it, at least twice, then get back to this post! If I had to pick 3 cd's that were worth every penny it's going for this would be one of the 3! Great production, as good as the big label cd's. Well worth the sear

From: TIM Date: July 14, 2003 at 17:16
I agree MButt. I wouldn't for many but this one is worth it.

From: Mike Date: July 15, 2003 at 12:39
To MButt-I would love to give this a listen and would pay for a cassette copy of this and would re-do my review as needed. Could you provide me with a copy? Part of my reason for saying it can't be worth it is that the record companies back in the mid to late 80's were signing anyone and everyone who played glam, rock, metal, etc. and had long hair. How did they miss this band then?(just not the right connections? Is this in Wildside, Vain, Roxxi,XYZ(Hungry),territory?Let me know in the copy.THX

From: MButt Date: July 15, 2003 at 19:04
Hi Mike, I re-read my reply to your post and it really sounded a little rude. that was not my intention. This is one hell of a cd, I really don't have an answer to why it did not go anywhere. it just didn't. email me and we can arrange your copy. thanks. MButt buttfamily@frontiernet.net

From: Dean Date: July 18, 2003 at 13:50
Ok after reading all the positive reviews about this cd, it's nice to be on the other side for once. This cd and a Wild Boyz cd was one of my finds in a used cd bin for $4.00 for both of them. I listened to it once and tossed it into my collection. Now that i listen to it-i still don't see what everybody is raving about. No disrespect to anyone who loves it. Does anyone else remember when this band put a full page in Hit Parader for this. I have to imagine that's why it ended up in Wisconsin in

From: Date: July 18, 2003 at 16:27
Dean, What is the issue/year the Concrete Jungle appeared in Hit Parader?? I have a bunch of old copies and would like to check it out. If your interested in selling/trading the Concrete Jungle email me at warrior_rock@hotmail.com.

From: Marc David G. Date: July 20, 2003 at 10:48
Sorry to hear you didn't dig the cd, Dean, and I am also sorry to tell you that we never DID appear in 'Hit Parader' (as far as I know)... We did, however, put full page ads in both 16 and METAL EDGE magazines, and we got reviewed 3 times in issues of KERRANG. It was THOSE reviews that took us up to #3 on the import charts in the UK. Marc David Gambino, former bassist of Concrete Jungle (marc@maybepete.com).

From: Marc David G. Date: September 15, 2003 at 16:44
Hey!!! (What happened???) If I knew what I said would stop the discussion on the band and our album- I would've kept my big trap shut!!! Hehehe...

From: Slinky Steel Date: September 18, 2003 at 15:40
The above 'unlisted' personnel for this good looking group of guys was: J.C. Ryan - vocals, Chris Young - guitar/vocals, Marc David- bass/vocals and Michael X - drums. The album was produced by Max Norman, who is famous for producing the first 2 Ozzy albums (with Randy Rhoads).

From: jen jen Date: September 18, 2003 at 20:10
Hey slinky where you been hiding? No doubt your playing the heck out of your CJ cd.Thanks for the fo on Max Norman-thats wild. HI, MARC!!!I think its so cool to read a post by an actual band member on one of these pages. Those OZZY albums kick with Randy.Never really got into him as much after that...until his tv show of course. Hah! Did you read that Rock Candy vs CJ debate going on above this? I think the candymen have some killer songs, but lyrics in CJ songs have more meaning.

From: slacker55 Date: September 19, 2003 at 16:43
Concrete Jungle's lyrics are some of the best!!!!!!!!

From: Slinky Steel Date: September 20, 2003 at 16:49
Yeah! That's right SLACKER55. Like the line in 'How can love just fade away' that is: Now I sit and I cast a lonely shadow on the walls we used to embrace. And you know, Lord, girl I still keep your picture, but that'll never take your shadow's place.' SO COOL

From: jen jen Date: September 21, 2003 at 20:20
How bout those kinda little lines from some of the other songs like 'I sit here all alone with you by my side' from When I'm Gone, 'I gotta say theres been enough said' from Nobody Moves and 'Why dont I just join in and make your twosome a three' from Between the Lines? Classic!

From: Marc David G. Date: September 21, 2003 at 21:36
Thanks Slinky Steel, slacker55 and jen jen!!! HEY JEN JEN! I have to say that this page on HH has been a great thing for (the legacy of) CJ. I have rec'd e-mails from all over the world... Australia, Portugal, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Israel, Brazil... It has been great to know that our indy release could be so far-reaching, and that people still dig the music 15 years later. I have rec'd messages from here in the States also, mostly from cool fans in Utah and New Hampshire. ROCK ON!!!

From: TheRipper Date: October 1, 2003 at 16:50
Again, listening to this one just brings me back. What an awesome band here. These guys deserved much more, awesome attitude driven Hard Rock/Glam! Those wanting to check out a new one (or at least an old one they haven't maybe heard yet), I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE if want one that rocks!

From: Marc David G. Date: October 4, 2003 at 12:52
One of (if not) THE best comments/compliments anyone can say about a band that didn't make it big- especially one on an indy label - is that they deserved more. Thanks, RIPPER!!! Again (for me)... ... This whole resurgence in popularity of our 1988 disc has been so rewarding and it's a great feeling to know that so many people get what we were trying to do.

From: TIM Date: October 12, 2003 at 15:14
Can't wait to get an original of this one . Not to copy Ripper, but this is one of the most underrated bands out there. There was an extreme lack of foresight on someone's part for not promoting these guys. Glad I've gotten to talk to one of the band members and happy to know they are still playing (although not as CJ). I wish someone with good business sense would reissue their works.

From: TIM Date: October 12, 2003 at 15:23
One of the averages is an lp so the value is still at the $207+ mark.

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 17, 2003 at 11:15
Tracks one to five are good but after that the music takes a dive and doesn't sound as good.

From: Slinky Steel Date: October 20, 2003 at 0:33
Track # 7... 'Between the lines' is one of the greatest hard rock tunes of all time!

From: Jen Jen Date: October 20, 2003 at 22:47
I hear ya, Slink! UR right about BTL being a great tune. Its one of the best on the disc BUT - it is track # 8!!!

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 21, 2003 at 11:40
From Track 6 to 12 which is half the cd I see 2 people have found one track they feel is worth mentioning as. . (I quote) 'One Of The Greatest Hard Rock Tunes Of All Time' . . . (rolls her eyes) . . .

From: Slinky Steel Date: October 22, 2003 at 18:43
Since your name is 'purrfect' kat- you should learn to either be a perfectionist in everything you do... or resign yourself to not being one. 6 to 12 makes 7 songs which is MORE than half of 12. AAAAAND 'Ladies of the night' (#7; got it right this time, JEN!), 'Hand over fist' (#11) and 'One nighter' (#12) are also great rockin' tunes. As far as the 'kat' and 'rolls her eyes' part- I picture you looking like one of those old tick-tock clocks! Hah!

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 23, 2003 at 9:53
If you disagree with my opinion than I'm ok with that but your opening comment is just plain silly. . . If I believed I was a perfectionist then my name would be spelled PERFECT-CAT. . . Anyways, (Back to the Topic). . . As I said before the first 5 songs are much better then the rest of the cd. . . I don't have time to get into a power struggle with Stinky about it. . . I'm Right and he's Wrong and that's all there is to it.

From: SLinky Steel Date: October 23, 2003 at 18:38
It's SLinky, not Stinky, so I (who is also a SHE) will just roll my eyes at all of your comments as well. I will leave it at that... and have a nice life!

From: Marc David G. Date: October 28, 2003 at 22:50
I don't like to see people disagree on this page.BETWEEN THE LINES is track number NINE! Many people have told me that it is their favorite (or second favorite to NOBODY MOVES) song on the cd. I must admit that 4 of my fave 6 songs on the album are in tracks 1 thru 5, but I also have to agree with Derek Oliver from KERRANG! who said this when he reviewed the cd in Jan. of '89: 'There are 12 collosal cuts on this album...' Looking back after all of these years- - I'm still proud... PEACE!

From: SeducedByMetal Date: October 29, 2003 at 8:55
picked this cd up from a private seller....only had it on cdr..but now the owner of the original....

From: BrianJ8173 Date: October 30, 2003 at 18:44
Great great Cd If you can pick this up, do yourself a favor and get it. Truly one of the best and most rockin indie cd's out there.

From: Marc David G. Date: November 1, 2003 at 10:34
Thanks for the cool comments, SeducedByMetal and BrianJ8173!There has been something I have been meaning to say and I've been forgetting- - MButt mentioned in a post a while ago that he picked up the CJ self-titled, and now Brian is telling me that he has seen it on eBay being advertized that it is the orginal lineup from WEAR AND TEAR. BIDDER/BUYER BEWARE!- - It is NOT!!!

From: TIM Date: November 17, 2003 at 18:38
SlinkySteel, borrowed your info. for the credits- thanks. Definately an album these guys can be proud of. Finally got my original today and loved it as expected. First heard about these guys from MButt about 3.5 years ago. I spent day and night in vain searching for them (for him). A buddy sent me a tape later and then I had to have them. I would have paid a certain Ebay seller $400.00 but he didn't want to wait . Luckilly, 'Bino' saved the day and I'm always glad to support a band directly.

From: TIM (cont'd) Date: November 17, 2003 at 18:49
Fortunately, I didn't pay $400 because it gave me a chance to meet Marc who is one hell of a nice guy. Plus I got a T-Shirt, 2 unreleased demos, and a couple of posters for way less. Also, it went to a former band member which is always a plus to me. I like helping a band directly rather than paying a label or a seller. Hopefully there will be some reissues in the near future.

From: TIM Date: November 17, 2003 at 18:57
To the aforementioned 'seller,' that was intended as a joke- not an insult. . I do prefer to deal with bands directly though because I like to meet them and help out thier projects. They added something to my life so I like to help them.

From: Corwin Date: November 18, 2003 at 9:26
A word about the mentioned self titled CJ album : It's a different German band that happens to have the same name . . . I saw it on some German sites and it costs about $20 (if anyone cares). The American CJ released only ONE album (a really great one . . .) and a couple of demos as Tim mentioned before.

From: Marc David G. Date: November 26, 2003 at 20:23
Hey, TIM! - Thanks for the compliment (likewise, Bro) and helping to get our names up on the personnel! SlinkySteel either has great eyesight, or has the Lp because you need a magnifying glass to make out the text on the disk or cassette. And thanks, Corwin for the compliment about the album and info on the German group...

From: Marc David G. Date: December 25, 2003 at 12:27
Hey, All ! - I would just like to wish anyone visiting this page around this time of the year a very happy holiday season and ALL THE BEST FOR 2004!!! Marc David (Gambino), Bassist of CONCRETE JUNGLE (marc@maybepete.com)

From: vikingo Date: January 22, 2004 at 8:28
un grupo mas de sleazy glam angelino sin decir nada nuevo pero con una buena balada ' how can love just fade away '.no son malos.

From: Marc David G. Date: January 23, 2004 at 11:13
Gracias!

From: AORQUEST Date: January 26, 2004 at 23:02
DOES ANYBODY HAVE A CDR OF CONCRETE JUNGLE--WEAR AND TEAR...I WILL GLADLY BUY IT FROM THEM

From: Dean Date: January 27, 2004 at 0:20
Ok I know we're not supposed to do this stuff in the comments(sorry Dan) but Aorquest get a hold of me at prey4me334@hotmail.com- I'll trade ya a cdr for something. I'm about to put the original up on ebay in a couple of days. Again, sorry Dan(you rule, dude-but I spend way too much time on this site.)

From: Marc D. Gambino Date: January 27, 2004 at 23:12
Not too cool, Dean...but kind of what I would expect from you...based on your earlier comments. I can't believe you haven't put the original up on eBay ALREADY. What reason did you have to hold onto something you viewed as being mediocre (that so many other people like and are after) for at least 7 months since that post? As a musician, and especially as the former bassist of CJ- I must say this blatant advertisement to 'play outside the rules' and promote piracy hits especially close to home.

From: Whiplash1972 Date: January 28, 2004 at 0:55
Marc,re-read Dean's post. He's not burning a copy of Wear & Tear & selling it for profit,he's TRADING a CD-R of it.I myself was lucky enough to be able to trade for some MP3s recently, and Wear & Tear was part of what I got.If it had not been for the trade,I would NEVER have heard your band's music AT ALL,since it's out-of-print,and goes for OUTRAGEOUS prices on eBay that I just plain can't afford.I would think that since your CD is no longer commercially available you'd be happy that folks are...

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Whiplash1972 Date: January 28, 2004 at 0:59
...trading your music, and still keeping Concrete Jungle's name alive. Maybe it's time to talk to Metal Mayhem or Shire Records about doing a re-issue of Wear and Tear;I for one would buy it!

From: Dean Date: January 28, 2004 at 11:31
Marc- There is no possible way you could be more misunderstood about my offer. Like Whiplash stated-it was to TRADE a cdr of an out of print band for another cdr. If your cd was readily available there would be no need but how are any new people going to hear your music if the average price of the cd is $200.00? If you are able to get the rights of your music it would actually be very easy to have someone like Metal Mayhem or even yourself to put it out again. cont..

From: Dean Date: January 28, 2004 at 11:38
My own band recently released a cd and put it out ourselves - for 200 cds the price was $450.00. And it got cheaper the more we ordered. 900f the people on this site trade cdrs because it is the only way to hear a lot of rare music from that time period. After we hear it I'd say well over 500f us will go out of way and usually spend big bucks to obtain the original. Most of us are collectors and will not be satisfied by just having a cdr- it is temporary until we can get the real thing.cont.

From: Dean Date: January 28, 2004 at 11:48
The only way I played outside of the rules of the board is that Dan usually likes trade requests to be in the message board. Believe it or not- I am actually trying to help promote your band not insult you or rip you off. If you would like to talk about this more please email me -prey4me334@hotmail.com.

From: Andy Raymond Date: January 29, 2004 at 2:09
As the former drummer of Concrete jungle {version 2----1990 to 1994} I have an attachment to this cd. Chris Young and I tried to reform the band and keep it going a little but we never found the right people that had the chemistry of the original band. Mark, I wish I was there to play with you when things were rolling good for C.J.!! Sadly ,Chris and I have lossed touch. Anyhoo, This is an awesome cd!!! Mark, I am at andyznuff@yahoo.com if you would like to say hello.

From: Marc David G. Date: January 30, 2004 at 22:52
Okay... I must do a complete 180 from my previous message to actually THANK Dean (and Whiplash1972 as well) for opening my mind to what the real deal is, and helping to keep the buzz about my band (and the scene in general) alive after all this time. Andy- thanks for the cool post and nice words both about the band, the cd, and the history of CJ continued. I WILL be e-mailing you.

From: aorquest Date: February 3, 2004 at 17:48
This cd totally rocks.....the vocals are really good. I particularly like the cover song--Great Balls of Fire. Ithink of of the album's highlights is the ballad....How can Love just Fade away.' Awesome ballad. This album should've been big. With production by Max Norman, you would think so. I rate this a 10. Any fan of rock and roll should give this a listen. To all the rockers out there, keep the spirit alive. Rock on!

From: Marc David G. Date: February 3, 2004 at 23:07
Yeah, yeah!!! (You got THAT right!)- - JC Ryan's singing on this album was TOP notch, aorquest, and the lyrics he wrote for 'How can love just fade away?' are (simply put) not your 'average' ballad lyrics (as SlinkySteel pointed out in an earlier post). It was a great experience recording this album (and the demo we did afterwards) because it was amazing to see him bang out the vocal tracks dead ON... many of them in one take! Soul, power and professionalism.

From: Date: February 7, 2004 at 0:42
hey marc david.....thanks for replying...youa good bass player...didn't mean to leave that out. Like I said..awesome band. Keep it up!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Remastering, you say?!?!?

From: SlinkySteel Date: April 7, 2004 at 11:33
No, no, no MARC! Please tell who ever might think of re-mastering the CJ WnT record to leave it alone!!! (I think it is perfect as is!)

Tried for the last 6 years to get this on CD in the UK as I belive it was only available on import. Remember when this first came out and it got rave reviews in Kerrang. Maybe a reissue even in limited numbers would be good

If anyone is interested- there are now three eBay items regarding Concrete Jungle being auctioned. One of them is another vinyl Lp (which don't normally go for ANYTHING like the disks; as we printed so many more of the albums), and one of the other things is an issue of 'KERRANG!' with the story that sent us to our '15 minutes of fame'... It's the issue that I continually refer to in interviews, the most recent of which appeared on a site that says my new band is 'the denition of Jersey rock'-

From: Date: June 17, 2004 at 21:25
The address is : www.asbury music.com, and then scroll down to 'Interviews' and click on my (real) name: Marc GAMBINO (that IS Marc DAVID Gambino). It's an article all about CJ and the days I spent in the band with my brother Mike, guitar phenom Chris Young and JC... 'the diamond warbler' (as descibed in that magazine article I mentioned before. Peace!!!

THIS CD IS AMAZING! I WOULD LIKE TO PUBLICLY THANK MY GOOD FRIEND MIKE BUTT FROM UTAH FOR GETTING ME THIS GEM. THIS DISC IS SUPER HARD TO COME BY THESE DAYS, AND YOU WILL PAY BIG BUCK FOR IT, BUT ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY. THESE GUYS DID NOT SKIMP IN ANY AREAS WHERE MANY INDIES DO. THE SONG WRITING, PRODUCTION, AND MUSICIANSHIP ARE ALL TOP NOTCH. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE INSERTS COULD OF BEEN POLISHED UP A BIT. KINDA HARD TO READ.

I JUST LISSENED TO THE NEW DISK FROM MARC DAVID'S CURRENT BAND AND IT IS REALLY REALLY REALLY COOL! IT'S NOT CONCRETE JUNGLE, BUT FOR ANY ONE OUT THERE WITH AN OPEN MIND TO STUFF THAT IS NOT METAL - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I BOUGHT IT AT THERE WEBSITE WHICH IS WWW.MAYBEPETE.COM

This CD comes out firing - I love the first two tracks. Sensational peices of commercial hard rock, and the title track is a killer too. 'How can love just fade away' is a sensational song, and a really sad ballad to be honest. Overall, this is just a good solid and cracking hard rock disc. Agree with many who say the first half is MUCH better than the second half.

I have been reading all your comments, and I am dying to hear these guys! Would anyone be willing to send me a cd-r? I would even be willing to trade cd-r`s; I have several out-of-print items, myself. Thanks so much! Chris

This coveted collector's piece rocks hard enough to crack concrete! The hair-metal collecting scene is often like a weed-infested jungle, forcing you to claw through a lot of thorny junk to find the beautiful gems, but when you find a gem like this one, it makes all those 'thorns' worthwhile. This one earns its high price with rippin' guitars, hot hooks, cool choruses, and great vox. Yes, the 1st half is better than the 2nd, but still, this one'll put some serious wear & tear on your stereo.

Talented band, good sound, great sleazy rock. I recommend it.

From: z4roxx Date: June 21, 2009 at 10:50
Wow!That's really the triumph of the generic.Very average, sincerely don't hear any great song or what else here.Just a decent hair metal release overrated at the extreme as often happens...

From: DNOMYTE Date: May 13, 2010 at 17:34
This albums rocks plain and simple.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 7, 2010 at 23:18
The problem of this album or band was the singer (J.C. Ryan)..the guy could sing in some songs quite decently but in general lines is a very average and poor singer (sorry to say that but mainly is the true)... ...'Right On The Line Of Love' good song with good choruses,'Nobody Moves' fine,'Wear & Tear' a highlight, kind of,'Great Balls Of Fire' acceptable Jerry Lee Lewis cover song,'Ladies Of The Night' highlight too,'Cuts Like A Knife'(not 2 be by Bryan Adams' song, this ain't a cover!)is a song & 'Head Over Fist' is the best one at least 4 me...78/100...price too expensive....not well worth actually...as i always say, respecting people's opinion...78/100...

From: brianrr600 Date: December 9, 2010 at 2:54
if acdc was ten times better ......they would sound like these guys..love it.10/10

I owned this on cassette back when it first came out. How this band never got signed is beyond me. Great stuff here. Unfortunately I lost all my cassettes when my storage unit got flooded. now back to the music.... The singer kinda reminds me of a better Vince Neil and this just has GREAT production. MAX NORMAN! How did that happen and how did it not catch the major's eye. Get it! You'll love it!
