Shania Twain, 7 years early.

From: freddy de keyze Date: November 25, 2002 at 3:25
Not bad,Koogles. Also a bit of Heart, but not half as good as the Wilson sisters.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: January 10, 2003 at 18:23

From: WrySmile Date: June 13, 2003 at 21:42
What can I say ? my second adolescence wrapped in a 12” cardboard sleeve yeah it is just like they say….Shania Twain way before time…….thanks JML and Matty….I’m marrying a girl with “that hair” next year……not the best but buy the disc….no ! buy two !!!!...then buy the follow up

From: nitelife Date: July 26, 2003 at 9:05
like def leppard? like shania? like the cars? this cd is for you - its great.. one just went for $44 at ebay, but i found one a little cheaper. get it ! -fav tracks - 2 & 3

From: espo Date: July 27, 2003 at 18:53
As said by 9 CHAMPIONS A 1, this album was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange (co-writer of several songs) and John Parr. Some tracks were also covered by well-known artists such as Eddie Money, Bonnie Tyler, Heart, Cher, Chrissy Steele and so on. Finally, "Heaven In The Backseat" has been included on the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child" soundtrack. Good stuff.

From: Wendal09 Date: July 30, 2003 at 16:44
Can anyone tell me how this compares/differs from the second release?

From: robert Date: December 15, 2003 at 12:49
Oyes!! este es del 89'!!! ¿verdad? No esta mal, le doy un 6'5 sobre 10!!

Just been sitting here re-acquainting myself with this one, forgot how good this was - 'Heaven in a Back Seat' is a class track as is the beautiful 'Hymn (look through golden eyes)'. 'Wild child' isn't as good as the Heart version on the 'Brigade' cd but runs it close. All in all a great album with filler to a minimum.

From: Ian Luke Date: February 24, 2004 at 11:42
Just want to comment about the Heart comment. Take a look on the heart album one of the tracks they did was a cover of a romeos daughter track. And it runs away with it sorry heart fan but this is from a true Daughter fan

From: Blaine Date: February 27, 2004 at 2:38
I compared the Heart version of 'Wild Child'; good guitar work but Ann's vocals on the chorus didn't measure up to Romeo's Daughter! I'm glad I bought this CD and found it here!!!

From: jessica96fish Date: February 28, 2004 at 12:00
being a brit myself.i've got to take my hat off to these lot.brilliant music great band.both cds on par with each other imo..

From: B Date: April 10, 2004 at 19:12
Great album if you like Def Leppard, Bryan Adams and Shania Twain then get a copy of this album. You 'll love it. Also try Stevie Vann - Stevie Vann (Silvertone Records, 1995). All tracks produced (co)written by Mutt Lange. Contains: All Take Your Heart, Prove It (Duet with Bryan Adams), If Walls Could Talk (forget the Celine Dion version).

From: soleilpopmusuc@ Date: April 19, 2004 at 19:43
The first album is a classic and is way before it's time. Mutt Lange is a genious, anything he touches is absolutley incredible. I have had the first CD since it came out in 1988 and I still find new harmonics and melodies when I listen to it. I can't help to compare it to Shania's latest album! Romeo's Daughter is awesome!

From: tomcat Date: April 20, 2004 at 6:34
this was how melodic rock sounded in the 80's..very well done cd.. 'heaven in the backseat' was a hit.. great band..

From: gener8tr Date: June 10, 2004 at 14:24
"Heaven in the Backseat" was produced by Mutt Lange, and if you didn't know better you'd swear Phil Collen and Rick Savage laid the background vocals!

From: Kip Date: September 1, 2004 at 1:51
Okay, enough with the Mutt & Leppard comparisons. This album has 2 parts - the songs that are catchy, and the songs that aren't catchy. 4 of them are very good, the rest are throw aways. And the dumb thing is the only good songs are the first 4. After that I have a hard time getting through the rest of it. But the first 4 songs are very, very good. Wild Child is probably my favorite, followed by Don't Break My Heart. Thier strength make the whole of the album just above average. 5.5/10

From: Geoff Date: September 1, 2004 at 2:32
I guess I don't mind this album. In fact, I do quite like it in places. Nice AOR with some cool songs. Agree that the first 4 are good but I also really like 'I like what I see'. Good CD, certainly not great.

UNO DE LOS MEJORES ALBUMS QUE ESCUCHADO EN UN GRUPO CON UNA MUJER EN LAS VOCES, UN ALBUM DE AOR EXTRAORDINARIO CON SUS TOQUES POP, TREMENDOS TEMAS MIS CLASICOS SON Don't Break My Heart, I Cry Myself to Sleep at Night(UNA JOYA), Wild Child(OTRA JOYA, ESTA INCLUSO ME GUSTA MAS POR TODO EL SONIDO DEMOLEDOR QUE TIENE), Stay With Me Tonight EL RESTO DE TEMAS TAMBIEN SON MUY BUENOS, ESTAN AVISADOS, ESTAMOS ANTE UN CLASICO ABSOLUTO DEL AOR Y DEL ROCK EN GENERAL, AOR SUPERCLASSICCCCC!!!!!!

From: PETE U.K Date: January 5, 2005 at 6:34
CLASSIC ALBUM, CLINICAL PRODUCTION AS WITH ANYTHING MUTT LANGE PUTS HIS HAND TO, THE SHANIA CONNECTION IS O.K BUT DIDN'T REALLY SOUND LIKE HER MUSIC TO ME AS JOHN PARR ALSO DID SOME TRACKS AND THEY DONT REALLY DIFFER FROM MUTT'S PRODUCTION IF REAL MELODIC ROCK IS YOUR BAG LOOK OUT FOR THIS IT IS WELL WORTH IT

From: The Dolphin Date: April 28, 2005 at 3:01
Catchy aor songs.Tracks 2,3,5,7,9,10 are amazing.I like the voice of Leigh Matty.Anyone have some information about her new band?

From: z4roxx Date: November 3, 2006 at 13:11
That’s the kind of 80’s aor I prefer.I think it’s gooder than the second as sounds and songs in general.I give 9/10,wonderful the singer.

From: Axe-Machine Date: December 30, 2006 at 12:18
Great, typical late 80s AOR. 'Heaven In The Backseat', 'Dont Break My Heart', 'Cry Myself To Sleep At Night', 'Wild Child' and 'Colour You A Smile' take all the points here and feature the excellent voice of Leigh Matty. Mutt Lange's production is evident and the backing vocals sound as big as anything Def Leppard ever did. Despite a couple of fillers, this is a top notch records, no doubt about that. 9/10.

From: JudithXR Date: January 14, 2007 at 19:35

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 18, 2007 at 18:32
I saw them live during the support of this album with another wonderful band called Thunder and they rocked out the venue!!!."Heaven in the back seat","wild Child"&"I cry myself to sleep at night" are the killer ones 4 me.If you have the chance to grab this piece of HardRock/Aor,do it without any regrets!!!.8/10

From: lalorock Date: April 6, 2007 at 23:11

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: November 10, 2007 at 21:21

From: hair metal again Date: October 10, 2009 at 4:38
excellent, excellent, excellent.romeo s daughter release their high quality debut somewhere between hard rock and pop rock.the sound is unbelievable, agreat mix of vocs, guitars and keyboards by mutt lange and john parrin production.this contains great songs like "cryin my self to sleep at night","dont break my heart","wild child",and the beautiful "colour you a smile".i have now the feeling that this was overqualified back then and thats why didnt have the expected success.we werent ready for such unique sound.anyway this is a gem and we are lucky that rockcandy records rereleased it.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 31, 2011 at 21:37
It was so nice to have a listen to it again after a while without it that it made me write another comment...lucky enough i was to see them live just when they were appearing in the British rock scene..."Heaven In The Backseat"(watta roking track!),"Don't Break My Heart"(superb!),"I Cry Myself To Sleep At Night"(nice mid tempo),"Wild Child"(brilliant!),"Velvet Tongue"(sounds ala T'pau)& "Inside Out"(catchy)..in general lines..a must have!!!.94/100

From: halfordhughes Date: November 16, 2011 at 23:42
shit! overrated!

From: maulars Date: May 7, 2014 at 14:25
I don't think it's overrated by any means. Superb collection of hard-driven, melodic tunes which sends shivers down your spine. Only if, of course, you're into melodic rock/AOR.

From: edwithmj Date: December 18, 2017 at 18:49
Certainly not overrated by any definition, more like underrated! If you like Def Leppard, Saraya, Heart etc you will love this. The vocalist has some of the best female rock vocals I've heard while the production by Mutt Lange coupled with the instrumental section make this a must-have. Don't Break My Heart: superb upbeat rhythm with catchy vocals, I Cry Myself to Sleep at Night: extremely passionate vocals and great bass, Velvet Tongue: great synthesizer and again, great vocals, Inside Out is another winner; lastly, I Like What I See is a very sweet song indeed. Essential stuff in my book - I can't stop listening to it.
