From: Shoemaker Date: November 12, 2002 at 12:17
Very fine album. This one and "Hungry for a game" are the masterpices from this band.

From: koogles Date: December 2, 2002 at 10:25
Masterpiece time indeed. Put the first three tracks on this CD against the first three from any other 80s release and this will emerge as the winner. Keyboard heaven!! If I could create an '80s European melodic hard rock Hall of Fame, these guys along with TNT, Da Vinci, Shy, Dominoe, Fate, Europe, Treat and Dalton will be the first inductees.

From: Patrick Date: December 3, 2002 at 17:35
Koogles, you just forgot STAGE DOLLS from your list. Oh, and yes this is the excellent debut album from SKAGARACK btw. "I'm Alone" is such a great song !

From: Mixaplic Date: December 15, 2002 at 11:37
This is a collection of decent songs but nothing stands out. If you love keyboards then you'll love this. They should have added a little more guitar and a little less keyboard. The vocalist doesn't have great range and at times lyrically this release can put you to sleep. There are some good tracks on this cd but not enough. I would pick it up if I could find it in the 5-7 dollar range!Best tracks: City Child,Damned Woman,Double Crossed and Move It In The Night. 1-10 scale:6

From: Scandinavia Date: December 30, 2002 at 10:57
Where are the other releases? Their debut sure is a great album but Hnngry for a game and especially Slice of heaven seriously kix ass...Hungry which is their most popular album is easy to get and should be in every hardrock/aor collection! One of the finest acts of the scandinavian scene ever...No doubt! Saw them in 90 and they were fabolous! Torben works as a radio dj these days...playing shitty music unfortunately..

From: Teo_3 Date: January 6, 2003 at 17:18
Excellent debut from truly one of the best european bands.Actually all their cd's where "to buy for". As for the best european acts you have to include 220 Volt, Evenrude and Alien of course. For the rest i agree with koogles.

From: GEORGE Date: January 23, 2003 at 13:04
EXCELLENT CD FROM ONE OF THE BEST BANDS I EVER HEARD.A GIFT OF MUSIC

From: TIM Date: January 23, 2003 at 15:08
I've only heard "Damned Woman" and it's great. I have this coming and can't wait.

From: Great Dane Date: January 23, 2003 at 18:47
TIM, Do you have the singers solo cd.?? Its great. It has the guitar player from Europe on it (Not Norum) Good stuff.

From: TIM Date: January 23, 2003 at 18:50
No, I'll have to try that out. I just found 1 song by these guys buried in my Audiogalaxy files and had to have more. It's funny because I just made arrangements to buy this and had no idea what a great sound they have.

From: Teo_3 Date: January 24, 2003 at 2:44
Indeed, Torben Schmidt released in 1991 the album "A bit on the Side", with the hit "Turn on my Badland". Truly an excellent album great.

From: Neil Date: March 20, 2003 at 16:02
A personal anecdote...I was enjoying some quality time with my wife in a hotel room in Paris, France in 1987 when the video for 'I'm Alone' came on the TV in the room ...kinda interrupted my rhythm...but the moment still stands out in my memory ...a great, memorable track. While there are some low points on the album ( I would'nt pay $ 80 for it ) the first two Skagarack albums should be in every collection.....

From: syl1970 Date: March 21, 2003 at 15:34
you're a lucky guy Neil because in France where I'm living nobody knows this band,it's the first time I hear this name 'Skagarak'. Thanx for your opinion I'm going to buy it.

From: Emilio Date: March 23, 2003 at 6:43
Donde está Hungry for a game, y Slice of Heaven.

From: Vigilante Date: April 12, 2003 at 10:07
This is the worst album in speed metal genre!!! Oh..mabye because this is not a speed metal album (), but really good scandi AOR bunch of songs. "I'm alone" is a very cool track.

From: anastasio Date: May 26, 2003 at 15:43
hi. could anyone tell me how many edition of this title on cd exist? thanks

From: TIM Date: May 26, 2003 at 17:55
anastasio, are you asking how many albums these guys have released? I'm not sure, maybe Great Dane or Kristian knows. I have two more in my collection that I need to submit.

From: Kristian Date: May 26, 2003 at 21:56
They made 4 albums, this is their first, "hungry...." is their second "a slice of heaven" is 3, and "big time" is number 4 and last. And I think the singer made a solo album too, after "big time".

From: TIM Date: May 27, 2003 at 0:42
All 4 are now submitted.

From: Teo_3 Date: May 27, 2003 at 10:29
For info on all Danish rock bands got to www.rockdoc.dk/select.html .It has information for nearly every band and all their releases.Cheers.

From: anastasio Date: May 27, 2003 at 17:40
i'm wondering how many edition of the first ALBUM(SKAGARACK -S/T)exist on cd,because i have found some copies on POLYDOR and other on LONG ISLAND RECORDS! are there fakes ,also?

From: motley Date: June 3, 2003 at 19:16
Really a great album, no doubt but a bit too spft compared to what they would release later on. Great to see the whole collection here....

From: TIM Date: August 8, 2003 at 18:42
Just got the lp today- thanks Kristian! I've only gotten through the first half and already wish to buy the cd. Really good stuff. Does anyone know if this came out on a Japanese label?

From: CrazyDiver Date: September 25, 2003 at 4:50
skagarack rules... a shame it´s over.. but who knows.. maby some day :-)

From: Scandinavia Date: September 25, 2003 at 6:11
I doubt it..I was told the rest of the band was pretty tired of Torben Schmidt (sole songwriter, all credits, major ego) etc. But I don't know if it's the truth...

From: Bill Date: October 17, 2003 at 13:57
Hey anastasio, the Long Island CD´s were no fakes!!! The LI label reissued this gem on a limited edition (2000 items) with permission from Polydor several years after it´s initial release. And by the way, the US vinyl version on MCA has a very poor album cover whilst the european edition´s cover is fucking amazing great!!!

From: Strang Date: July 1, 2004 at 17:02
Gah! Damned Woman and Lies are some of the best AOR tracks ever. Try Stuff like Streets (Not the Streets) Boulevard, White Sister and see if you find better.

From: TIM (2) Date: July 12, 2004 at 5:16
Top class AOR debut, with some great keyboards and huge harmony vocals. The first half of this is the best, and I personally prefer "Hungry for a Game" to this, but it's still essential stuff. "I'm Alone" is as good as AOR gets... 9.5/10.

From: erik Date: August 10, 2004 at 6:32
Gotta love this one. My favorite track is Move it in the Night. A chorus you just gotta sing along with. And nope i cant sing but still i do. Anyways have los of melpdic/aor music to trade. If interested just drop a line at erikhardam@hetnet.nl cheers

From: Geoff Date: September 10, 2004 at 2:53
Wow, look at the ebay average on this one! Good on 'em. I got this one after 'Hungry for a game' and didn't really think it was as good, but the more I hear it the more I love it, and think it might even be the better release. It's just an excellent slab of European melodic hard rock. I love the first three songs, but there's nothing I really dislike here. Very good, solid melodic rock release, well worthy of recognition.

From: Kip Date: September 10, 2004 at 5:42
$42 is too high. You can eBay this for $20ish now. I think this album is a tad overrated, as Hungry For A Game in my opinion is by far their best song. But I really dig a lot of these. Highlight include I'm Alone, Victim Of The System, and Damned Woman. The other above average tracks are Move It In The Night, Don't Turn Me Upside Down and City Child. For some reason Saying and Lies rub me raw and come off as annoying. Good album overall - 7.5/10

From: Kristian Date: October 28, 2004 at 19:33
Damned Woman don't you treat me so... Great Album!

From: Kim HP Date: December 26, 2004 at 15:10
Excellent debut from one of the finest Scandi acts ever. Every song on this album is well written, catchy and memorable. My personal favourites would include "Move it in the Night", "I'm Alone" and "Lies". but I really do like all of them.MASTERPIECE!

From: Harald Date: February 4, 2005 at 14:41
Just a note for the die hard fans. I´ve tracked down the german 12" single of "I´m Alone" recently which includes an excellent extra track "Stand By Me" not available elsewhere, classic Skagarack stuff IMO.

From: staryder1 Date: March 6, 2005 at 9:55
JUST PICKED THEIR SELF TITLED 1ST CD FOR $1.00 IN MINT CONDITION ILL SAY ITS THE BEST CD I HAVE BOUGHT FOR A DOLLAR MY COPY IS ON MERCURY RECORDS OUT OF GERMANY NOT LONG ISLAND IS IT WORTH ANY MORE GREAT DISC ILL GIVE IT A 9

From: Scandinavia Date: March 26, 2005 at 8:39
Well, lucky s.o.b. above! This excellent disc is even hard to find here in DK (appr. 30 miles from the band's hometown) & I had to pay something like 60 dollars for my copy... but now it's mine!! :-)

From: Scandinavia Date: April 20, 2005 at 10:37
...And NOT the silly Long Island reissue!! No Siree!! The original polydor pressing...Now that's cool!!! :-)

From: Jez Date: April 20, 2005 at 12:09
One of the best Scandie albums to track down for sure, and one deserving of the 'Classic' tag (along with their stunning 'Hungry For The Game' release). Original Polydor copy/ silly(?????)Long Island version - don't really matter as long as you own a version of this little beauty.

From: Scandinavia Date: May 9, 2005 at 16:21
Hahaha...I agree...Just kidding around there cuz' it sounds "cooler" when you can brag 'bout having the "original" version...Hahaha - GREAT ALBUM!!!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: June 29, 2005 at 21:31

From: mauricio Date: December 29, 2005 at 18:49

From: mauricio Date: December 29, 2005 at 18:49

From: mauricio Date: December 29, 2005 at 18:49

From: mauricio Date: December 29, 2005 at 18:50

From: Mediaab Date: January 3, 2006 at 8:48
This cd was a great debut release from Skagarack. I'm alone, Move it in the night, and especially the masterpiece Don't turn me upside down (what a great song!!) are lifting the album's overall quality. But unfortunately there are also a few fillers on this cd that reduce the overall impression on me. I'd give it 7.5/10.

From: SCANDI Date: January 10, 2006 at 11:38
I guess I gave a 9 out of ten for the first time when I rated the CD from my beloved neighbours from the Netherlands OK, that's why I have to go to my favourites SKAGARACK as quick as I can. Due to the songs 1,2,4,7 & 8 if not for every song I have to give a 9,4/10 I just don't give more cos of the lack of power with some songs --However keys are heavenly as is Torben's voice & most of the song structure

From: SexGunLover Date: September 1, 2006 at 13:58

From: Pudelrockarn Date: March 4, 2007 at 10:46
A real gem. 10 out of 10.

From: Mustaine_TW Date: August 2, 2008 at 8:38
got a 2007 reissue copy, there's 5 bonus track with this cd, good AOR album 8.5/10

From: Harald Date: October 7, 2008 at 15:17
watch out for the new SKAGARACK site at www.skagarack.dk

From: lalo r.o.c.k. Date: July 6, 2009 at 22:41
Great album from one of the best scandinavian hard rock AOR bands, all the songs are masterpieces, but my favorites are I´m alone,Damned Woman,City Child(awesome ballad !)this and the next 2 albums are AOR at it´s finest, buy or die 10/10.

From: AORSweden Date: August 15, 2009 at 4:49
The band has reunited and plays a few gigs in Denmark this autumn / winter. I will see them together with Pretty Maids in Copenhagen in december.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 2, 2010 at 18:04
Good album with pretty enjoyable songs..usually debut albums have 2 be like this...especially if it is AOR...best tracks are songs 1,2,3,5,7 and 9...to define wheter is a must or not is better that you'd be the ones to say so..as 4 me goes, just a good album,acceptable...86/100

From: 123charpenay Date: September 10, 2015 at 13:09
exceptional scandi a o r.it s a killer debut album.one of the best of the type.only exceptional a o r songs ,absoluty no fillers.the mix between guitars ,keyboards and the beautiful voice of torben schmidt is simply sensational.the reissue with four bonus tracks (one studio and three live)is essential.this cd is a must have, present in all serious a o r collection.

From: titothetitan Date: February 22, 2018 at 13:31
I didn't liked the first three songs, it sounds so flat and generic. But then comes a lot of great med-tempo songs and balldadas -with a lot of keyboards. Overall it's a pleasant and well-produced album. 80/100.
