It's actually 'Back To Shalla-Bal' which is one of my favorites. You can tell Joe was a Silver Surfer comic book fan. Because of the Surfer's rebellion against Galactus, he was banned from seeing his lover Shalla-Bal and a giant invisible barrier was set up to prevent this. The title track is great. 'Big Bad Moon' isn't bad and has a ZZ Top sort of vibe going on.

I would also say that about the song Ride TIM. I had to look to see who was singing when I got it. I thought it was Billy Gibbons

This is an outstanding album by Joe. For me, this is his best. Nothing before or since has matched up.

Nice album but I like The Extremist more...

Lydian was always Satriani's favorite scale. One, can find a great number of his famous chops on his classic self titled track

From: Baris Date: March 5, 2003 at 8:34
Great sound from a great talent. My most favourite song here is 'The Mystical Potato' a very interesting and enjoyable melody. The funky tune 'Strange' and more classic melodic power rock songs 'Big Bad Moon', 'Back To ShallaBal' and 'Ride' are other happy moments here.

One of my buddies and I learned most of these songs on our guitars. When I listen to the title, I can picture myself taking off on a Beoing-747. Loaded with great songs, I liked 'New Day At The Beach'. I once played this on guitar to an ex-girlfriend. She said 'What the f%$k are you playing?' My buddy liked The Bells of Lal Parts 1 and 2. Even the lyrics are smart. I didn't have any problem with his singing.

Buen disco, aunque personalmente no me gustan las canciones en las que canta Joe. Mi favorita: BACK TO SHALLA-BALL

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: July 23, 2007 at 0:34
Good Instrumental Rock, buen trabajo donde Back to Shalla-Bal(Gran corte incluso viene en el juego Formula 1 de Play Station del 97 donde tambien esta Steve Vai) Flying in a Blue Dream, Can't Slow Down son mis 3 favs el ultimo cantado por el que no lo hace nada mal 8/10.

From: Carlos A. Date: July 28, 2007 at 23:51

From: edwithmj Date: December 27, 2008 at 21:46
It doesn't get any better than this from Satriani. The Extremist comes a close second but this is the best by far. Many hate Satriani's voice but I love it. It fits perfectly on all the songs he does. The title track, The Phone Call, Big Bad Moon, I believe, strange and one big rush are masterpieces. This is what got me into instrumental rock.

From: pie75 Date: August 5, 2010 at 8:46
almost as good as surfing with the alien the title track gets me every time and how cool does joe sound singing big bad moon

From: hair metal again Date: August 8, 2015 at 12:42
pretty good release by JOE SATRIANI with half instrumental in his own flawless jamming way and half with vocals with him singing(not so good)!the whole result is enjoyable, but not blowminding and i d say that i prefer the instrumental ones that suit him more!Joe is a great guitar player and that shows in his live performances that i was lucky to attend one of those!

One of Satch's best work, there's no question about it. Kind of bible for all guitar players.
