| This one falls short of equality with 'Love At First Sting.' You'd think after 4 years they'd make a better studio record, but it still is rather enjoyable. The guitars sound really heavy and crunchy, and there are some good tunes on it.

| This people haven't talked about 'Rhythm of Love' and 'Walking on the Edge'! And it's worse than it seems to be: this people said 'Don't Stop at the Top' is the best Scorpions song! I agree whith Jorge and everyone who has a poser spirit must agree too!!

| This release has been unfairly criticized by band and fans alike; IMO one of the best melodic metal CDs of the 80's. Only Believe in Love brings my overall rating down a notch (from a 10 to a 9.5) because it is only an average ballad for the Scorpions; otherwise this is an outstanding album from one of the best bands in history!

| Es dificil escoger un disco de Scorpions,sobre todo en esta epoca(todos los discos muy parecidos),pero personalmente me quedo con este,ya que consiguen como en ningun otro un equilibrio entre temas cañeros,comerciales y como no la balada de turno.Y encima año grande 1988.GRAN DISCO.

| i own all that the scorpions have released. this was my first cd i ever bought - and if i didn't listen almost exclusively to classical music and jazz now, this would be still in the top 10 albums. one of the rarities where i like EVERY track! sure, very polished, perhaps too commercial... but it still works. media overkill rocks, don't stop at the top is splendid... this and the world wide live great songs are the best they ever did. now, unfortunately, they suck horrendously.

This should not have been the first album that you ever bought! They arn't really that good, OK? If you need help with your Rock n Roll, than you need to listen to AC/DC!!! After that you will be all right, Trust Me!

| Awwww ... For one thing, the sound on my CD is awful. I have to turn this up MUCH louder than for other CD's to get it to a normal volume. As for the songs ... 5.0. The good ones are 2, 5, 6 and 9. A sidenote: THe Eagle Diner in Seaford DE used to have 'Believe in Love' on the juke. Believe it or not!

| Scorpions is one of my fav bands and i have all their original cds.THIS IS THE BEST BY FAR and have a place in my top ten list of my best cds.Matthis and klaust make their best vocal and guitar work that i have ever seen on this band.AMAZING 10/10. for contact:westofsunset@hotmail.com

| Pretty good album, but a little too polished. Kinda lacks the 'sting' of their early 80's releases. If you like the band, you shouldn't be disappointd, though.

| To each his own, but I agree with McClane that Don´t Stop At The Top is the best Scorpions song. Great intro, inventive guitar riffs, catchy chorus and great lead solo. Enough said.

| Some good tunes here, 'Don't Stop at top', 'Passion rules the game', 'Every minute every day' and 'believe in love'...but, I felt the overall effort not quite up to Scorp standards. A little too smooth maybe? Not enough CRUNCH.

| THis album is not pure hard rock at all,if you want pure hard rock,try cinderella'night songs or van halen's van halen album. This album is pure melodic metal.IT possess melodic but emploding rhythm and music reminiscent to the grEAT DOKKEN and drum amd bass sounding and rhythm that is not dissimilar to def leppard. Anyway,this album is in a top class album that should get lots more recognition that it deserves.ratings:9/10

| This is where The Scorpions drop the ball and have yet to recover (I have not heard 'Unbreakable' yet though). The songs are very polished, the music is lighter, and the songwriting is lacking (track 6 is one of the worst song titles ever). Still it does contain a couple classics in 'Rhythm Of Love' and 'Don't Stop At The Top'. 5/10

| I just gave this another spin today and it is still among my favorite Scorpions albums. I really like the guitars throughout but gotta agree with Fizzy on the muffled sound, maybe the remastered version fixes the problem. 'Believe In Love' is a great ballad. 'Rhythm Of Love' is another fav, but there are some great kickass hidden gems here as well in 'Media Overkill' and 'Love On The Run'.

| I disagree with those who down talk this Scorps classic. Every song smokes-you would think of all the melodic rock fanatics here this would reign supreme. I think this was a great follow up to Love At First Sting and a great Scorpions release. Sadly my love for Scorps ends here too-never got into Crazy World or the other ones since.

| ...and with the major success -suck-sess- of still loving you...they drowned the world with ballads and kinda stupid experiments. Even their live performances where loosing strength and became boring and predictable ballad after ballad shows. Sorry, I can't help it, but If a rock band builds up a show to get the climax with ballads then something is very wrong.

The best album of SCORPIONS for me,great melodies and powerful guitars,song to song all are masterpieces on´t stop,Rhythm of love,Passion rules the game,Walking on the edge,Every minute Every day,Believe in love,their most melodic and the last with Dieter Dierks as a producer,the music and the melodies can not stop,SCORPIONS ruless...9/10.

| Great album and one to own from the Scorps; very good glam/hard rock from 1988. Uh, highlights, lets see: tracks 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9. Tracks 4, 6, and 8 are ok too I guess 80/100 Good to listen to if you go for a drive.

| Argh, sorry, but for me this was the beginning of the end for the Scorpions. I'm not saying that this is a bad record, no at all, but for me it was way too comercial. Afer this one I lost interest and I didn't buy anything else untill they released Acoustica...another mistake.

| jens is a dickhead why is he on this site if he don't like rock and roll? fact is this is very produced and polished but still has some great songs on it to get it buy don't stop at the top,rythym of love,media overkill,passion rules the game and beleive in love(can't say i do!) lol

| I absolutely love this cd, but then again I'm a big fan of this band anyway. The albums between 1980-1995 are all awesome in my book! 9 for 9 on this cd , all great tunes. I highly recommend.

| Had the chance to see the Scorps live in London-England on this "Savage Amusement" Tour with Vixen as a support act and well,it was simply a blast of a concert(Hammersmith Odeon was the venue)...this album is wonderful because it combines the typical Scorpions kinda commercial heavy rock tracks but with an edge...from tracks 1 to 5 is just a delightful journey through music ala Scorpion "trademark" but the whole album gets to your bones undoubtebly...94/100

| It's fairly obvious that Scorpions attempted to build directly off of Love At First Sting with the release of Savage Amusement. It feels like a version 2.0 to a degree and that is not necessarily a bad thing yet it comes across as more of a safe release with a limited ceiling for greatness. There are certainly some good songs here like opener "Don't Stop at the Top", the first single and quality mid-tempo ballad "Rhythm of Love", the punchy "Media Overkill", and the engaging melodies of "Every Minute, Every Day". The power-ballad "Believe In Love" falls short of the benchmark set by "Still Loving You" and "Walking on the Edge" is just okay. Uptempo pieces like "You Let It Rock" and "Love on the Run" are headbanger worthy but have been done better in the past. "Passion Rules the Game" is a fairly catchy soft-rocker however. This album upon release was marred somewhat by a softer production value however I do have a remastered European edition that restores a heavier mix. 78/100

| excellent commercial hard rock release by SCORPIONS that put them in the charts in a time that the competition was extremely strong as hair metal had took over!you can find 1 or 2 fillers but there are some mega hits like "passion rules the game","rhythm of love" and "believe in love" that makes Savage Amusement a classic!

| totally agree with hair metal again.i ve always love this record and even now after all these years i am always Under the charm of this album.in 1988 french specialist press was very severe with this disc.no problem for me these guys had no taste and are very strong for follow the fashion.these same guys will be in admiration (several years later)in front the grunge wawe and for example the horrible "slang" from def leppard.unfortunately no bonus tracks on the japan version of the excellent "savage amusement".only 9 tracks.

| Actually, I've never been disappointed with any of Scorpions' "ordinary" album. On the other hand none of them are at the top of my tree. The reason might be that very good songs have stood next to average ones. This is also the case of this album. Quite similar hard rock to preceding "Love at ..." or MSG at that time being. The sound may seem to be more polished but I don't mind, actually it was 1988 - the time of Bon Jovi, Europe... and that's a titbit for me. 80/100.

| I still laugh thinking of Martin Popoff's review of this disc, saying it sounded like "the rustle and thump of a heavy velvet curtain coming down over Klaus's chroming dome."

| the deluxe edition 50 th anniversary is absoluty essential cause the six bonus tracks are amazing!!!track 10 and 11 are two exceptional new songs.track 13 is the demo of the hit"dancin in a moonlight" present on "the crown".the demo is different,more hard and really excellent.track 14 "livin for tomorrow" is present on live bites.the studio version is fantastic ,this song is a hit.and then the ice on the cake is the super cover of the who "i can t explain" present on the best of "the mercury years".disc 2 is a sensational d v d about the making ,the building of all songs of "savage amusement".it s very very interesting.there is so some videos and a long part about their 10 concerts in leningrad in 1988 in front of 140 000 peoples at total.one more time it s fascinating.

| Funny you say that, because I actually think this disc sounds pretty quiet. Not just because I hhave the original, 1988 version so the actual volume is low (even lower than most other releases of the time). But the instruments themselves just seem kinda muted. To me, Crazy World is a much louder-sounding album. Maybe the remastering of the 50-anniversary edition brings it out more?

| So I got ahold of the 50th-anniversary edition, and our buddy in France was not kidding. The mmix is vastly improved. I compared it side by side with my original CD, and the new version is so much louder! The other 5-th-anniversary editions that I've heard don't tinker much with the mix, if at all. Really, they don't need to, but Savage Amusement gets a desperately-needed boost. That said, it doesn't fully compensate for several below-average songs, after a string of outstanding albums. Now if somebody would just give L.A. Guns's debut the same treatment ...

| Interesting to note my original comment, comparing "Believe In Love" to some of the band's less commercial-sounding '70's ballads. Speaking of the 50th-anniversary reissues, one of the bonus tracks on Taken By Force is--sure enough!--"Believe In Love," with different lyrics, but immediately recognizable as the same song, a decade before making an official release.

| I've always been a huge Scorps fan, and this album came out near their peak of fame, but for me, its never been a favorite of mine. Good to know re-mix and production has been boosted; the original production has such a "muffled" sound to it. And "Rhythm of Love?" IMHO, worst Scorps song ever, and remember the video, just awful.

| Even Rudolf himself admits that this bunch of songs is really well-written and consists of excellent songs. If you like AOR and melodic rock with a good production and stellar mix, this might be the best album they ever released. An underrated album for sure, but the tour was amazing and the videos on heavy rotation, so it is even better when you listen to it today.
