Existing comments about this CD

From: TIM Date: May 8, 2003 at 13:39
This is extremely rare. I've never seen another one go higher. The only one I saw on Ebay went for $1500 but it turned out to be a fake I believe. I know many people put this in their descriptions but I doubt many of them have actually heard it. Only one person I know owns this and perhaps Ryan may.

From: MButt Date: May 8, 2003 at 15:39
yes Tim, Ryan does have it in his collection, I would love to have it too! it is pretty legendary, some folks don't even think it exists.

From: adboimel Date: May 9, 2003 at 14:13
Is this the most valuable cd today, talking about AOR/MHR? I have a CDR copy, it is a fantastic cd, but I think we have better albuns. How could you explain this price? How many was pressed? 50?

From: Delbert Date: May 10, 2003 at 16:21
I believe the production on this CD is marvelous for being a privately produced and released disc. Extremely elusive for certain, but, it does exist. I'm sure the disc was sold by the band at places they performed and possibly in some local stores and that was the extent of distribution!

From: JLPRocks Date: May 11, 2003 at 15:39
This is another one of those discs where the 'hype' surely outweighs the actual content. Yes...excellently produced....some good songs. But nothing that would even remotely make me pay more than $75 or so for it. There are plenty of Indies that kick this cds ass......and they're just as elusive....but better. 7/10

From: koogles Date: May 20, 2003 at 16:26
I don't know too many indie that kicks this CD's ass. This CD could make HotBoy go running to his mommy, give Friction third degree burns or turn Sweet Teaze sour. Musically, Surrender is simply to die for. Soaring high vocals layered like meat on a sandwich bun. Production like nothing you've heard from an indie. Glistening AOR sensibilities. I could compare them to Simon Says meets Hybrid Ice ('No Rules'). I know 3 people who will pay $1000 US cash money for this CD. THE MOTHER OF ALL INDIES!

From: TIM Date: May 20, 2003 at 20:33
Sorry Koogles, but I agree with JLPRocks. There are many indies that kick this one's ass. Production isn't everything. The only reason those people would pay $1,000 is so they could turn around and sell it for $1,500+. It is the mother of all hype in my opinion. It's not bad at all but not worth what it fetches.

From: JLPRocks Date: May 20, 2003 at 20:44
The idea that anyone would pay $1000 for that cd is ludicrous. I would venture to guess that at least two of those three 'buyers' have never heard it and want it because of the 'hype'. Or...because they can resell it to someone else. But I could be wrong...they could be just plain stupid. And, even though I respect more of your comments than not, I'll have to disagree on this one. If you don't know many Indies that can kick Surrender's ass, then you surely haven't looked hard enough.

From: koogles Date: May 21, 2003 at 12:14
Which indies would participate in said ass-kicking then, guys? I might go with Simon Says '...Spin This'. Maybe Worlds Apart, which I love. I haven't heard Rock Boulevard. TIM- you know I'm a sucker for big production, high vocals and all things AOR. Chances are, between the best glam indie and the best AOR indie, I'd side with the latter. Price and hype aside, I will STILL maintain that this is one of the Top 5 indies in terms of quality. And no, I haven't heard MAY RUN either.

From: TIM Date: May 21, 2003 at 19:03
It would be much easier to name the indies that don't since the list is so small.

From: Date: November 15, 2003 at 23:28
That's very good

From: robert Date: January 20, 2004 at 13:38
Brutal!! genial!! acojonante!!! NEVER es d las mejores canciones d A.O.R. q e escuchado nunka!! q pedazo d Grupo, archi- desconocido... Muy recomendado 8 d 10!!!

From: aorjocke Date: April 6, 2004 at 10:14
I really like this awesome AOR band, not a single weak track!Good production, good singing and harmony vocals, this is a winner all the way.Favourite tracks are 'Never', 'Last Time I Say Goodbye' and 'Later'.

From: Metal 4 Ever Date: April 12, 2004 at 20:34
Tim, you mentioned that the Surrender cd that went for &1,500 was a fluke, wasn't this one that went for $1,000 sold by the same guy? I am pretty damn sure it was. Who knows what to think any more.

From: TIM Date: April 12, 2004 at 20:35
Yeah, same seller.

From: ramamagouche Date: April 22, 2004 at 12:39
It has a sound similar to Alias, Harem Scarem, or Sweet. This cd is good and it maybe rare, but not worth the dollar figure it is posted at..1000 bucks is way out of whack.

From: Gabi Date: May 5, 2004 at 12:45
Super cd!!!.Me recuerdan mucho a Yes sobretodo las guitarras a lo Steve Howe y el teclado a lo Rick Wakeman con tintes de Def Leppard del Piromania.Pero eso si!!! Con personalidad propia.

From: ROB GARCIA Date: May 9, 2004 at 7:04
hi everyone, is this the same surrender that features zappacosta on vocals!? cause if not, this is another tough mother to find!...believe me.

From: Fire Oyster Date: June 1, 2004 at 5:14
I can just see the guy who paid $1,000 for this on The Antiques Roadshow trying to get a buck for it in ten years after you all come to your f***'in senses! Someone could probably have done a lot with that kind of cash....like buy a friggin' clue for starters.

From: CJ Date: June 1, 2004 at 5:28
My friend just told me about this cd for $1,000 and I had a look at the closed auction page. This cd has the ring encoding 'DIDX' that's been popping up all over on indies lately. From mid-level rarities like Portrait to biggies like Gideon's Army 'Grace' and Magnum 'No Secrets', it seems many indies of great value have been cloned over the past few months. Sorry to say this is also one of them. These were all pressed by a plant in Terre Haute, Indiana. The FBI has been informed. Be Careful!

From: Alex5150 Date: June 11, 2004 at 14:34
This album is available for you to download at melodic rock extra, you have to pay 35 dlls for a membership, but is worth it. Check it out!!! www.melodicrock.com

From: Dean Date: June 11, 2004 at 15:18
Thanks Alec for mentioning that--i was gonna post the same thing. To somebody whose not schooled in all the hard to find AOR- my closest comparision for these guys is 'Holy Boston' The vocals sound so much like Boston it blows my mind. Kind of hard for me to get into but i know many who would. AORFreaky-this time I'm def. curious- what is your view on this disc and the high price it fetches?

From: T-Bone Date: June 12, 2004 at 1:58
It's only worth what someone is willing to shell out for it. I'll take a CDR any day.

From: Date: June 25, 2004 at 17:44
well, I just heard this guys and, I can tell it's a very unique style of playing hard rock, I mean it's diferent than the way we are used to hear the late 80's hard rock, these guys have diferent melodies, I can tell that, it's difernt hard rock, and it's so damn gooood!!!!!

From: Fanzinaor Date: June 26, 2004 at 14:13
No se porque la gente paga tanto por este disco, hace aņos que lo tengo acumulando polvo en la estanteria, se salvan dos o tres temas que no son nada del otro mundo. En fin para gustos se hicieron los millones de pixels.

From: Magnus Date: July 12, 2004 at 9:20
I understand why this one is very sought after thanks to a good friend of mine :-) I really enjoy my cdr copy. The vocalist reminds me of John Blanco and Robby Valentine only better! The music are great and I like every track. Please re-release this one!The best indie out there!!Pure AOR!!

From: Rockhead Date: July 13, 2004 at 8:14
I cannot see the fuss made over this release and it is no way worth a fraction of what it is currently selling for. The Vocals grate somewhat but the songs are quite strong and the production good for an indie.Keyboards and guitars are good but (and it is a BIG but)this is not a cd that I would return to time and again and I suppose that is the test of a great CD.

From: Stef the french Date: July 16, 2004 at 19:24

hello folks i have this cd its not worth 1000 but its a very good cd i just got the dr love cd on cdr know thats just as good as this cd thanks bob metalhead@centurytel.net

From: Geoff Date: September 19, 2004 at 1:48
HOLY F*CK!!! That price is riduculous! This CD is nice poppy AOR with some unique and interesting harmonies - don't get me wrong, it's a nice indie CD, but there are a lot better. I much prefer Hotboy or Intuition, even Inside Out. It's a good CD, very nicely done, but as I said - the price is f*cked! The first song is a fave... Good, very catchy melodic rock.

Where do all of these guys pop out of the wood work with these, and wanting $1000 for it? Let me guess '-nova-', you arent from the U.S. either? How do all the foreign guys come up with a CD that is from here?!

From: jessica96fish Date: September 21, 2004 at 5:19
it is good.it is rare.but if someone is willing to pay this kind of money.good luck to them.no one would bat an eye.if it was a rare plate or painting.so why the the big deal about a cd.for gods sake its only Ģ500.00 give or take a pound or two.and if someone can sell it for more than they paid.then again who can blame them.

From: George Angel Date: October 30, 2004 at 11:20
IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC ITS MADNESS TO PAY MORE THAN $100-$150 AT MAXIMUM NO MATTER WHAT IS THE SITUATION.MAYBE THIS CD IS GREAT BUT NOT AS GREAT UNLESS IT INCLUDES PERALS AND GOLDEN NECKLESS.THIS IS ALSO FOR THE OLSO OR ANY OTHER CD THAT CLAIMED TO BE RARE.PEOPLE WATCH OUT WE MAKE THINGS RARE.DALTON MAKE US PAY $50-$100 AND WITHIN A MONTH THAT CD RE-RELIST AND COST NO MORE THAN $5-$10.PEOPLE WATCH OUT, NO CD WORTH OUR MONTHLY PAYCHECK!!!

From: 80sMetal1 Date: October 31, 2004 at 17:18
Although I wouldn't pay $1000 for any CD, I gotta say that anyone on Heavy Harmonies will absolutely LOVE this CD. An AOR masterpiece with soaring choruses and vocals, stellar production, and cool guitar solos. Just cranked this CD up the other day; it never grows old!

From: S.S. Gyro Date: November 4, 2004 at 15:50
I think the major problem here is that to have a cd sell for this much is turning a lot of great fans away from even trying to find new things (or old) to listen to. Sure it's a capitalistic world, and people should make what they make. But the thought of $1,000 for a single cd is like packing a jar of Grey Poupon into a rock concert in case anyone asks. This music was always for the little guy, the fighters and the people who struggled to make it. In some cases, it was all they had I suppose...

From: S.S. Gyro Date: November 4, 2004 at 15:55
...I also think it's a tragedy for any hard rock fan from the 80's/early 90's to think that the search for one compact disc turns them into an ascot wearing snob who wouldn't bat an eye at a plate or piece of art (jess96Fish!). As for capitalism, how about somebody re-issue this thing? Obviously the guys who made this are missing out on a big-time chunk of cash if some fools are willing to spend $1,000 just to get it. Imagine how many would go for $12 each? The cd itself btw is a 7.5/10 at best.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 9, 2004 at 0:45
OTRO BUEN ALBUM DE HARD ROCK MELODICO, NO COMPLETO PERO TIENE SUS CANCIONES BUENAS COMO Never Y SOBRETODO Thought You Should Know QUE SIN DUDA PARA MI ES LA MEJOR DEL ALBUM, 1000$$$???, YO NO TUVE QUE PAGAR ESO PARA CONSEGUIRLO, AH PERO DE QUE ES MUY DIFICIL LO ES TAL VEZ UNO DE LOS DISCOS MAS DIFICILES. SOLO RECOMENDADO SI CONSIGUEN A UN PRECIO NORMAL. SI NO NO LO COMPREN, A MENOS QUE LES SOBRE EL DINERO.

From: Erik Date: November 19, 2004 at 7:56
what makes this album so rare?

From: Geoff Date: November 20, 2004 at 22:09
Not really sure Erik, but it's probably got something to do with the fact that you cannot find it anywhere...?

From: Animal Date: January 18, 2005 at 21:21
This is without a doubt one of my favorite albums. All the tracks are killer but my favs are Never, Claire, Sunrise Goodbye, and Nikki. I do think it is incredibly wierd that the band just kinda disappeared after this album. This album kicks some serious butt!!

From: ashen_light Date: January 21, 2005 at 11:22
Although I do not have have the original, but this is probably the only CDR in my collection which deserves special attention. I have to agree with Koogles: this band sounds like nothing I ever heard in my life. The price for the CD is rediculous, but take into consideration the fact that it was self produced, self released, limited quantity. Lot's of people want to have it,but no so many want to depart with it. Bottomline: it's a great CD with no weak tracks.I just wish it was more affordable.

From: z4roxx Date: January 21, 2005 at 19:05
Hey!Every cd's prices from 40$ on is redicolous,IMO.Incredible and unique production/sounds as well but not in all tracks unfortunately.IMO they are famous musicians with hidden identity,in fact in the cd don t find any names about them...I hope this cd will be reissue but It's improbably because the master recordin'will be lost or forgotten...

From: ashen_light Date: February 5, 2005 at 15:58
Well, sometimes it seems to me that it's young Michael Kiske from legendary Helloween is singing... Hey Animal, by the way those are my favs as well.

From: ashen_light Date: February 12, 2005 at 10:19
I'm dying of curiousity:does anyone know ANYTHING about band members? Or the band itself? Although the asking price for this baby is insane, but I have to admit that this is probably one of the best(if not the best)self-released CDs ever(IMO). What happened to the band? They couldn't just dissolve...I heard these guys were from New York, but the rumour isn't confirmed. Are band members listed on the original pressing? How come they just vanished? This CD deserves to be re-released-that's forsure

From: z4roxx Date: February 12, 2005 at 18:23
I think an official re-release of this cd will never available because band's members are much rare than their same cd!ahaha!!I think the master of the cd will never be found and it's only probably that will be possible to press a bootleg in the future...what a shame indeed!!That was a great band with stunning musicianship but....who are they???Where are they??No answer to anyone I suppose....

From: THE KING Date: February 12, 2005 at 20:04

From: Nanteau Date: March 16, 2005 at 11:12
I used to have this one as a CD-r (so it must be existing). However, I gave it away 'coz I didn't like it at all. It's worth only one cent, at least if you like european AOR/melodicrock and aren't an 'hardcore' collector of american glam/arenarock.

From: TIM (2) Date: March 18, 2005 at 3:07
I also struggle for comparitors for this. The lead & harmony vocals do sometimes sound like Robby Valentine, but Final Frontier is probably the best I can come up with. But even Morratti doesn't sing like this, it's high-pitched but a flawless performance. A re-issue would be AMAZING as every AOR fan needs to hear songs like 'Claire' or the killer duo of 'Last Time I Say Goodbye' and 'One Tough City'. The latter with soaring melodies all over it. 9.5/10 (a great ballad would've sealed a 10 IMO).

From: Swriter Date: March 18, 2005 at 18:03
ok, finally heard this one, Tim made a great comparison with Final Frontier, similar indeed, I also hear a little Heaven's Edge reference as well, and maybe a little Skagarack, this is a pretty good one!!! Lighter then I thought, but not too light, also not a metal disk, somewhere in between. cool harmonies and some cool effects for an indie, how did an indie get a good production work?? Still, maybe a remaster one day??? Solid disk, lets hope for a remaster along with The Ladder.

From: Studboy Date: March 23, 2005 at 20:29
This CD is HIGHLY overrated in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, its a good CD but no way worth the price. Lots of vocals so if that's your thing you will love it but its just not mine.

I heard from Ken about 2 weeks ago. Reissue is still happening, just bushed back a month or so (looking at sometime in July). They're getting a website together to help promote the reissue, and finalizing the details on the cover art, etc...

This an ok cd but kinda overhyped IMO. Good yes. Fantastic ? Nope. Just very solid.

good album, but that`s it...nothing out of the ordinary, typical 80`s AOR...cannot understand how anyone will pay close to 700 USD for this.......get it cheaper at AORHEAVEN.

Hi everybody, finally i made a login to teach each one of you to respect the power of Surrender! It's a beauty! The three bonus tracks are marvelous! The Great love ballad Carrie is my favorite one! I had many other rare cd's, like Joe & Bruce, White Sister, Arctica, Silver Mountain, LA COWBOYS etc, but Surrender is the best! Enjoy!

From: oliver Date: September 8, 2005 at 13:44
i donīt mind being the first one to say that this cd is completely overrated. there are so much great indies out there (strutt, oxido, shelter), but the surrender hasnīt the class of these. reason to me are the very poor vocals. how can anyone stand that? songs arenīt bad, no doubt about that, but the vocals make it hard to enjoy the good songs. buying the rerelease for 15$ is okay, spending more money not. 6,5/10

Unfortunately i have to agree with oliver to a point! This album is difficult to judge though, unless you listen to it again and again and again. It makes you feel weird afterwards,I don't know why.I guess it's the same reason that oliver referred.Poor vocals! On the other hand, the production is good and the songs worth to listen!Certainly not a killer one!!6.5/10

I always loved this CD but now i just can't stop listen to it...bonus tracks are awesome especially marvellous Little Asia which sounds like forgotten Cliff Magness-Solo song...vocals are very high (Robbie Valentine high) but when you adjust to it you can hear how fantastic this band was...hooks and melodies are everywhere, in just one song Last Time I Say Goodbye they incorporated so many diffrent melodies that's just insane...terrific band!

From: Eva Galli Date: August 4, 2009 at 22:46
Incredible, pretty nice .... I cant believe why this kinda of music is a boom nowdays... every melody re-ups many feelings. About the price, 1000$$ hey whats up.. Its an album not Jewelry or some... By the Way 9.5/10

The Mother of All AOR Indies cool Quote! Yeah itīs a Great AOR Masterpiece in my opinion, perfect AOR Songs. "Sunrise Goodbye" "Never" and "Last Time I Say Goodbye" "One Tough City"... All the songs are perfect in my book. Highly Recommended. 9.5/10

An album with good songs and some interesting moments, honestly i thought it was a killer one after so many nice comments but it hasn't caused me any kind of excitement about it..just an album as i said with good songs.."Never" is an excellent opener with a great chorus line,"Sunrise Goodbye" is a good song with a catchy melody,"Nikki" has some The Outfield vibe,"Feel The Burn" is Lite AOR influenced...the best tracks for me are "Last Time I Say Goodbye","One Tough City" & "Later"(this one is my fave one)..85/100..enjoyable 4 sure but that's about all.

From: desiodom75 Date: January 5, 2015 at 10:53
How many comments in the last 12 years!..great feedback, many reviews, some critiques, but without any doubt this album is essential..rarest cd in AOR/MHR indies releases range ever..9 songs perfectly arranged and mixed for a common indie..next to perfection..yes,In the same veins of Harem Scarem and Treat..and I have it in my collection..original,not properly a bargain, but getting worth grab it!..essential! 99/100.
