| This is actually a very good Dokken disc. Like most reviews, I agree that Don's voice does sound a little dated but I must also say that I like it! Jon Levin shows his best "Lynchesque" licks and the tunes are very good outside of a couple modern sounds that do little for me. If this is the closest that they can get to ULAK and BFTA, then keep it coming. It's better than the recent dics but Don's voice just can't go back in time. 90/100

very good CD 83/100 US HARD ROCK i think there is some really good songs and JON LEVIN is the perfect DEADRINGER for MR SCARY (george LYNCH back in the days !) same sound and same stellar playing.....huge ! 'Standing on the Outside', 'Give Me a Reason', 'Point of No Return', 'Judgement Day' and 'This Fire' are very near from their classics tracks !yes DON 's VOCALS are lower in key but good anyway !BUY IT or listen to N****na for ever !/

| D*mn !........"Lightning Strikes Again" indeed f'n rips !.Whoever out there who thinks Don's voice is shot,doesn't know sh*t! Aged maybe? Sure.Don-as usual proves why he's still one of the BEST singer/songwriters in the biz,Levin'smokes & the rhythm section of Brown & Sparks is as solid as h*ll.Better than "Erase The Slate" and easily their best since "Attack".You know when you can't pick a fave song off an album,you've got a d*mn good one ! ---------

| This is so Classic Dokken!!! Jon Levin plays his ass off and contrary to whatever people say, Don's voice is still intact and able to carry the songs. If you like BFTA and ULK you will definately dig this album. I do not like to compare but soundwise it is clost to these albums. Standout tracks are: This Fire, Point of No Return, Standing, Judgement Day....Hell all tracks but Disease and Oasis which are not bad but too modern sounding for me. Pick up the import if you can because Sunset Superstar is a killer track. ~Welcome back Don and the boys

| Is only a shame that they return to the classic 80's sound without Lynch on guitar. Otherwise, no complaints at all.

| Yeah, been listening to this often & this is legit. Also, must add that this is a breath of fresh air when a band returns to their true sound, since it has been 20 years or so. Hope this is a new beginning. Rock on.

| This is a good disc, definitely the most "Dokken-sounding" for a long time. All the songs are good, but the thing I miss on this album is one or two really killer tracks. It's all solid and I think 'This fire' was my fave... but I'd just have liked a few more really big melodic choruses. Solid disc.

| Some of these songs are the best Dokken's done in years. But in 2008, there's just no getting around the fact that the band as a whole is just very dated. I love old Dokken, and this new one is good, don't get me wrong, but the style just hasn't stood the test of time. That, and they've never been a very "fun" band. Still, it's good to hear, and Dokken fans of old will enjoy it. The first two songs, "How I Miss Your Smile" and "This Fire" are my favorites. And I get a stupid kick out of Don bitching about his pizza at the very end.

| Excellent return to form for Dokken, the musicianship is excellent get the one with Sunset Superstar on because this is a great track. Dokken's voice sounds fine to me. Highly recommended.

| This is more like it !! Back to the old Dokken, not that the new sound was so bad but this puts us squarely back into the 1980's. This album reminds me of when G. Lynch was the guitarist. Most similiar to Under Lock and key in my opinion. Good to see the guys getr back to the roots of Dokken. 8 out of 10 here. Not quite as good as the new Whitesnake but close.

| i could have sworn oh that i commented on this already.oh well.this is awesome thats it in a nut shell AWESOME. i can't stop listening to it.what a lst six months or so, scorpions ,whitesnake ,def leppard , dokkenthe new crue ,great white. please keep them coming.

| Every dog has it's day and Dokken's has been it's rear view mirror for years. From all the positive comments I think some fans are in Dokken Denial. No one was a bigger fan then me in the band's 83-88 hey day.Every singers voice looses range with age but at 55 Don is still a heavy smoker,doing himself no favors. If you can't perform (especially live) remotely close to your prime you shouldn't be on stage or releasing albums IMO. Dokken and Lynch Mob where both at Rocklahoma recently. Oni Logan sounded in fine form as Lynch and company performed 'Into the Fire' in their set. I heard a Lynch quote that he would like to reunite with Dokken and expects to in the next year. At this point I would just assume remember the band as they where and fire up "Beast from the East" when I get nostalgic for a live performance. As far as this release it sounds like an attempt at half classic Dokken mixed with some modernistic moody tracks('It Means') with no real stand outs. Not bad,not great either.

| very disapointed with this one. I feel like I've heard all of the songs before. I expected more after the last one, this just seems recycled. Levin is a great player, but the songs are stale. Don's voice is okay. this reminds me of don's first solo album, boring. get whitesnakes new one if you want a great cd.

| Great disc that's worth it alone for Jon Levin's playing..talk about fire..WOW!! Hat's off to the band for Letting Jon shine...great songs but Don's Vox are a bit weak...

| amazing release by hard rock giants dokken.this is the unique sound of dokken.when you hear it you know its dokken right from the first tunes.don always remains a strong personality and he shows it,mr levin is capable of everything and the rhythm section is so solid as ordered.dokken does again the job for his fans in a very satisfying and traditional way.i wish every big band of the 80 s continued to play like this,how different ourdays would be

| Dokken is one of those bands that have wasted many years of quite poor albums. I have waited since their peak album "Back For The Attack" and even killer live album "Beast From The East", 1987/1988 that is, for a new really strong album. Finally, after two decades, Dokken has again released a winner. This album has it all. Don's voice has changed, as some of you say, but that's age and natual. I still think he does his very best of what he's got left, and the songs are great. Still two wasted decades before this album hurts. It shouldn't have taken this long! Without a doubt their best album since the 80s Dokken, and the only one that can compete with classic Dokken brilliance.

| I cant see the difference between Lynch or Without Lynch, Levin did an AWESOME guitar job, full of power and really catchy riffs, however Don less his great voice a long time ago but he stills rockin On 'n On. Long Life for Dokken and his new resurrection.

| I ditched this CD after just one spin like a hooker who won't give up the goods after the money's exchanged hands. Honestly, I haven't missed it even once, but credit where credit is due, it does indeed seem like the band made a legitimate attempt to recapture the rock 'n' roll lightning of their early releases. But for me, they failed, struck out, came up short, however you want to say it, mainly due to the lack of kickass tunes (the songs settle for standard hooks instead of striving for something special). Once again, another Dokken album that can be slotted into the "solid but unmemorable" section of their discography.

| i agree with Metalmaniac. I tried and tried to really WANT to like this Cd. I just couldn't find a single "hook" for my taste. Don't get me wrong its not a BAD cd by any means but for me its just a bland cd. Thats a real shame cause i think it could've been so much more.

| a little disapointment for me.it s a decent dokken realise.on several songs dokken have the modern temptation,not very melodic,absoluty not at the same level than the best albums of dokken.the glory days of under lock and key are far far away.i can add that don dokken have lost his beautiful voice maybe the ravages of time with the help of cigarette and whiskey.this cd have not the irresistible spark of class of their best realises.

| I think it's fair to say that this album's quality was quite a bit inflated at the time of its release. People were just happy to have the band embracing their classic sound after a couple of poorly-received efforts, and gave them an A for effort. But given the distance of almost 13 years, I doubt many would say Lightning Strikes Again is anything more than a decent record. The production sounds a lot "smaller"

| I accidentally clicked "Add Comment" before I was finished. Anyway, who would ever think you'd miss the over-the-top production of the mid-'80's? But this new, dry sound just makes the songs feel smaller too. Don sings in a soft croon full-time, no longer able to belt it out, which doesn't help the tunes distinguish themselves. "This Fire" could have been a real ripper except for the way it's sung, although it's still a good song. However, this new voice perfectly suits "How I Miss Your Smile," a wonderfully miserable Dokken ballad that’s just about the best thing here.

| "How I Miss Your Smile" is the song I keep coming back to from this disc—one of Don's most affecting performances. He sings in the voice you might use to sing to yourself when you're alone and feeling blue, never straying out of the same half-octave. In other songs, this would be a shortcoming, but it adds a ton of emotion to "Smile." Although much less bombastic, it's right up there with their best sad ballads (and they never wrote any other kind).
