I Remember Now..... HA-ha! I remember being absolutely blown away the first time I put the cassette for 'Operation:Mindcrime' in and listened to it;WOW! This melodic rock masterpiece weaves an intricate tale of mind control,drug use,and betrayal.Revolution Calling,Operation:Mindcrime,Breaking the Silence, I Don't Believe in Love,and Eyes of a Stranger are all stand-outs on this superb concept disc.10/10 Whiplash1972

Whiplash..I am still in awe of this album 15+ yrs later.I havent listened to many CDs at all where EVERY song is great/no filler. Saw them in 88 with Whitesnake..awesome show, remember Scott R's drums suspended by chains..cool look..Geoff sounded amazing..Jason FAQ..it doesnt surprise me you dont like QR...If you said that based upon there last few albums I could maybe understand it..BUT to not give props for Op Mindcrime.say u dont like Geoff's voice..your a joke..Quote the WidoMakr..Never More

This is QUEENSRYCHE's best album! The band at their gloryous days. One of the best albums from the 1980's. This was 1988 to be specific. And I saidamn! I was only 4 years old when this album came. Now I'm 19 years old, but this album stood the test of time. everybody in my generation has to know about this band. Simply one of the bests. Jason, you fucking asshole... don't talk trash about one of the best lead singers. I don't care what you think of this band, so shut the hell up!

A very good album but not the best QUEENRYCHE album in my opinion. I like RAGE FOR ORDER, THE WARNING and their first EP more. Today they are just shit and live they dont play many classic and thats what their fans like to listen to at a QUEENSRYCHE concert, no??????

When this LP came out Queensryche were so far ahead of every other metal band that it was, frankly, embarassing. It absolutely screams of a band at the peak of their talents. It's not easy listening, because the subject matter is dark and highly politicised in a 1984/Clockwork Orange sort of way. I was only 17 when the album came out and, to be honest, it scared the shit out of me as it was released before the Berlin wall came down and the end of the cold war. A Very important LP.

What a masterpiece! One of my all time top 5 albums. Very high professional music work and Geoff Tate´s great vocals. I just love those clips and intro/outros between tracks! If you just lay down and shut all the lights down, you can have journey to the world of music. VERY higly recommended album!

Metal's answer to Pink Floyd's 'The Wall!' This album has captured my imagination for over fifteen (!) years now. I wore out two cassette copies over the years before finally upgrading to CD. Queensryche's crowning achievement, they haven't released anything since then that has come anywhere near this!

The most incredible release from QUEENSRYCHE ever! It might be the best ever metal album, I dunno. But it surely set a new trend and opened a stream for intellectual bands. Sophisticated melody lines with awesome choirs. Pomp meets true metal. It has it all. The storyline is also still very up to date! This one can't be missing in anyone's metal collection! TOP! 10/10 PS: Shame the band (Tate) is steering clear of all of this nowadays..... music-wise as well as in his interviews!!!!!

This is a great cd simply because it's not like every other one. It's astory of drugs,corrruption, and some political stuff, very cool. But the thing that makes this record is the musicians. Chris, Michael and Scott are great at what they do. Awesome solo's. I like to listen to this when I'm pissed off. Great disc a must own if you don't have it!!

Operation Mindcrime is one of the greatest albums of all time - it blows other progressive albums out of the water. The story is complex, but accessible and only gets better with repeated listening. Everytime i lsiten to mindcrime i find something else I had not noticed before - the story also feeds back on itself - it's plot is better realised than many films. If you like metal/rock/prog bands - it's an absolute must as this one defies the stereotype and rocks at the same time! 11/10

You guys actually think this is a better conceptual album than KISS - THE ELDER??? Of course it is!!! This is one of the greatest recordings in rock history, and includes some of the best songwriting to ever. I wonder what Tate and Degarmo were thinking when they started writing is epic tale? To be honest,in my opnion,only 2 i can think of-appetite of destruction and hysteria though both are not really in the same genre as queensryche. Nevertheless,this album is a must have for any fans of melodic or progressive hard rock. This album would easily be a big contender in the 80's best metal album. Killer hooks,raging riff,great solos, awesome songs,genius songwriting skill,pumping bass is what differenriate such perfect album from the others. ratings:9.5/10

Just Stop! Stop trying to compare MINDCRIME to anything else. Nothing else compares. This is one of the most awesome albums ever to come out of the Metal genre. I won't pick individual favorite tracks. That would do a disservice to this masterpiece. To all those who have slagged this album, LISTEN! Keep listening till ya get it.It may be beyond some listeners because there is so much intelligence behind this album, this band. If ya don't get it, go back to Poison and start over.

sin duda estamos ante el album mas conceptual(en la composicion) de queensryche y su obra maestra! es uno de mis cds favoritos.. se le puede llamar progresiva a esta obra de arte pero la voz de geoff lo centra dentro del heavy metal, es decir combina ambos estilos y con mucho melodia y sentimiento... desde el intro hasta eyes of a stranger es genial, todos los temas sobresalen.. seguro este esta en mi top 5.. y recuerda... I can appreciate the work and effort that went into this and why many hold it in high regards, but it looks as though I will never be one of those people. I don't dig the arrangements, vocals and overall songs. I guess I'll have to deal with being a simple man with simple tastes

this could be the best conceptual album.Its got great songs,they are very melodic(i love that).My english is not so good,so i havent paid any attention to lyrics,but when i will have some more free time,i will listen (again) the whole album and also 'the story'.My personal favs:'Revolution Calling','I Don't Believe in Love' and 'Eyes of a Stranger'.Empire is great album too,but that one is much better.

MITICO!! Creo que ya esta todo dicho. Un Heavy/Hard Melódico Progresivo, elegante y magistral y una trama excelente. Coincido con la mayoría, aqui QUEENSRYCHE llega a su cima compositiva, lo que se volvió a repetir en el EMPIRE, pero en lo personal, yo prefiero este OPERATION MINDCRIME, por todo lo anterior dicho y por ese toque melódico y elegante, que hace de temas como: 'Eyes Of A Stranger' y 'I Don´t Believe In love' joyas extraordinarias. Easily one of the best metal albums of all time. This one shouldn't appeal as much as it does to me with it's progressive approach and I'm no fan of concept albums, but the quality can't be denied. The power and atmosphere in songs like Eyes Of A Stranger, Breaking The Silence and I Don't Believe In Love is just incredible and sheer class. A huge fav of mine. The only thing I could live without is the short intros and narrations which adds to the story but in the long run gets a little annoying.

1988 was an excellent year for metal. Metallica - ...And Justice For All, Slayer - South of Heaven, Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Death - Leprosy, Riot - Thundersteel, etc., were all released. Queensrÿche released their best album ever, Operation: Mindcrime. This concept album weaves several themes together (religion, politics, violence, insanity, etc.) very well. Also, the musicianship is excellent and Geoff Tate's vocals are phenomenal as usual. One of the greatest albums ever.

My favorite album of all time and an absolute classic. This masterpiece introduced me to Queensryche, and made me a huge fan since then. Catchy riffs, memorable choruses great solos and a heartbreaking story, are the incredients of this excellent effort. 100/100 for sure.

I didn't read all of the reviews above but I'm assuming that someone said that it's probably one of, if not, THE best concept album ever recorded. There is not one weak song anywhere to be found on this amazing release but the best part is I couldn't stop listening because I was entranced by the storyline. That plus the songs = Greatness.

Track after track are classics, but the standouts are: Anarchy X (awesome mood setting instrumental), Revolution Calling, Speak, I Don't Believe in Love, and the best track of all - Eyes of a Stranger. It's absolutely essential and is a deserved 99/100.

One of the best concept albums of all time, in any genre, and certainly the best in metal. Queensryche succeeded where others have failed: they didn't forget to write songs that stood on their own, that didn't have to be absorbed as part of the story. A lot of bands get too wrapped up in the story, and the proggier the band, the worse they can be about it. Also, the sound on MindCrime is top-notch for '88, with the signature slicing guitars of DeGarmo and Wilton, Eddie Jackson's loud bass. Even Tate, not one of my favorite singers, puts on his best performance dripping with emotion. "Suite Sister Maryis the centerpiece of the album and its most progressive moment by far. But my favorite part is the final third, as "Nikki" goes from the palpable desperation of "Breaking The Silence" to the numb despair of "Eyes Of A Stranger."
