Like 'em or loathe 'em, The Darkness return with album Number 2. Is this the Rock album of the year some of the press are leading us to believe? NO it isn't (not by a long way), Are they as bad as some people make out? NO they aren't. This has 5 really good tracks, 2 average ones and 3 fillers in my book, and taken for what it is, is an enjoyable 35 odd minutes. Not brilliant, but certainly not terrible either. If you liked the debut, buy it, if not then don't bother - Easy really.

From: Nick C Date: December 1, 2005 at 19:31
Yup couldn't have put it better meself. Although I feel it's a little watered down and could've been a little rockier in the production stakes.

From: Harvey Date: December 6, 2005 at 9:16
Still can't work out if these guys mean it or not! And what exactly is a 'one way ticket to hell and back'. Surely a ticket to anywhere and back is, erm, a return ticket...or is that just their little joke? The likes of early Danger Danger and, say, Adrenalize period Def Leppard was clearly delivered with tongue planted firmly in cheek, but these guys are either having a good old laugh behind closed doors, else they are the worst metal band in history!!

From: Erik Date: December 6, 2005 at 12:46
Ridiculous band and whats even worse that if you tell anybody you love melodic rock they say: stuff like the darkness ?. F...ing disgrace for the genre. So yep i loathe em.

From: Carmine Rose Date: December 10, 2005 at 12:47
I have to disagree with you guys. Now, before you start a fight and blow this whole thing out of perspective, let me say that I quite enjoy both this, and The Darkness' debut. I won't say which album I like better, because they're both different. This album is more varied in delivery, and Justin's voice is toned down somewhat (by no means do I dislike the high voice). All in all, this is a very good release. 8/10

From: skelly Date: December 11, 2005 at 17:28
Liked the first one better. On the evidence of this one, IMO these guys must be the most over-rated, over-hyped and over-paid Queen tribute band in the world.

From: rocknroll Date: December 30, 2005 at 12:22
If you liked the first one then buy this cd! I did it and i got hoked again as I was for their debut album. The Darkness continues with their own rocknroll style, and I must say I'm impressed to see a rocknroll band emerging from nowhere in these times of pop, rap and dance music.... 8/10

If Queen and Slade were riding on a tour bus and it crashed into a bus of Sweet fans on their way to see AC/DC,watching Monty Python this is what you would get....not bad,not great...I still think they are making fun of hard rock and metal, but not in a good way... the jury is still out on this...and they might not come back!!!

From: stryper Date: February 2, 2006 at 11:49
i know that most don't like em' and i know why.for the most part the singer.but you just can't get past the fact.that they right good catchy songs.i for one like this album better than the first.just take them for what they are.a bit of fun.just like wasp kiss wig wam. and a host of others.they ain't gonna be journey.nor do i think they want to be.and if it just might put rock back on the map.then whats the harm in that?

From: Geoff Date: March 9, 2006 at 18:46
Awful band, IMO, haven't got much better since last time, but I have to admit there's some stuff on this I can listen to. The sound/music is better, and the vocals are slightly tamer (though still terrible). I can handle all 5 of the first songs, but after that it's a f*cking mess. When all is said and done, music and vocals aside, I just don't think the songs here are that good... aside from the decent first 5.

From: sluss528 Date: March 25, 2006 at 20:14
yea , in your opinion is right.this cd kicks ass and is a throw back to the good ole days.i love the singer , and the production is spot on!just a very good hard rock album with humerus lyrics and catchy songs.9/10. get of the dope and go back to your creed records!

From: Priest On E Date: April 9, 2006 at 19:28
Hate the drum production..in fact, hate the production full stop. Too soft. Roy Thomas Baker also worked with Bowie and Queens Bohemian Rhapsody but I dont think it works as well as the first album here. Got bored quicker. But the songs are well thought out...whether u like the delivery is another matter. ONE WAY TICKET, KNOCKERS, IS IT JUST ME?,DINNER LADY ARMS, BALD, ENGLISH COUNTRY GARDEN and BLIND MAN are the grest tracks here, rest filler. If you dont get sense of humour here u fuckin suck!

From: Metalmusicman Date: January 7, 2007 at 16:01
Goddamn it! They did it to me again. The Freaks are back and once again the album I wanted to hate won me over in the end. Worse yet, this one is even better, because it is less ridiculous than the last I feel. The song writing is more solid and the subject matter is deeper, creating a more mature album if that is possible. The vocals are still ridiculos and so is the whole thing overall, but it's a step in the right direction as far a music is concerned. Again, I hate to say how good it is.

From: WookieEnthal Date: July 10, 2009 at 2:10
I MUCH prefer this one to the first release. I can't help but like even the bad songs on this one. I feel like I'm not in control of myself when it comes to this band...

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 12, 2011 at 16:21
A band that released 2 albums more or less in the same music direction but shamely it does not exits anymore ..."One Way Ticket","Knockers"(liked it a lot),"Dinner Lady Arms"(AORish) & "Bald" are the best ones IMHO...good falsetto vocals courtesy of Justin Hawkins...89/100

From: steve72 Date: January 16, 2012 at 3:11
A little more "experimental" than the first... but with guitars cranked loud and vocals stacked high, (to the indoctrinated) what's not to love. Great songs, melodies and lyrical themes make the ticket to hell and back one worth taking... alriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!!

From: hair metal again Date: May 7, 2012 at 9:15
pretty good release by THE DARKNESS ,a mixture of hard rock, classic rock and some folk in it!all the songs are ok and the vocs of Justin are still unique !"dinner lady arms","one way ticket" and "is it just me " are the highlights of a release that won t disapoint you !
