FOR THOSE WHO HAVE IT KNOW THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM

From: HG Date: February 17, 2002 at 15:09
Cool CD. The "Stars" track has the longest guitar solo I have ever heard.

Done as a heavy metal answer to Band-Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas", this charitable endeavor has its good and bad moments. Mostly a hodge-podge of album cuts, the brightest spot is the opening song "Stars". Several vocalists belt out the lyrics a la Band-Aid, but the new twist is the four-minute-plus guitar solo. Viv, Malmsteen and several others shred through a couple dozen measures, each new guitar trying to out-do the one before it. Great song, cool concept, but worth $30? Ummm... Yes.

Always nice with such an allstar collaboration...The "Stars" track in itsel is a mediocre attempt but the fact that the who's-who of heavy metal of that time joined forces is a very good sales technique...Hehe Anyway it is actually rather cool especially when you try to point out the different shredders in the loooong solo...The included radio interviews on my version are mindless though. I have the STARS video too...Geoff Tate appears in the studio wearing sunglasses...Must have been stoned...

The band POWERGOD from Germany made a cover song of the song "STARS" on their tribute to the 80s cd(they also cover bands like TNT, SAVAGE GRACE, STRYPER, MARS, and many more). BLEED FOR THE GODS is the name of the album. I think that any Hard rocker or heavy metal manic will love the cover songs that POWERGOD plays. buy or die.

I only have this on cassette, unfortunately, but this is a really cool album. "Stars" is a great tune, possibly a little dated nowadays, but worth it for the great lineup of vocalists and that awesome guitar solo. Also of interest to Y&T fans for including the studio version of "Go For The Throat". The rare live Kiss and Rush tracks make this one a keeper.

Excellent compilation and the main song "Stars" is a huge epic anthem.Record companies do not do this anymore with heavy metal bands that's because maybe it ain't renteable anymore.Anyway if you have the chance to grab a copy do it.10/10

Grande DIO!! Grande Maestro!!. 9/10

An objective comment is that this was a good album recorded for a good cause ...the main track "Stars" and "Hungry For Heaven"(Dio)are my faves...the ones by Accept,Rush,Kiss & Scorpions are also classic cuts.87/100
