I was suprised by this CD. Turns out to be an overall decent effort, especially on The Hunter and Here I wait. Guitar playing (as expected) is awesome!

From: Stu Date: June 13, 2001 at 23:14
If I recall great Guitar playing, but songs needed work. This is probably why you see a low rating. But musicianship is first class. People back then were expecting something better, I knew I was. I do own this in my 3000+ cd collection.

From: JOURNEY Date: June 12, 2002 at 6:29
WHAT????!!!!!THE SONGS NEEDED WORK!!!???!!! IT IS WRONG!!!! THIS SONGS ARE VERY. VERY, VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!!THIS ALBUM IS A REAL MASTERPIECE!!!! MARVELOUS!!!!!!

From: Shoemaker Date: June 22, 2002 at 16:08
Yes, good album a bit poppy, with two radiohits on it (tracks 1 and 2)

From: koogles Date: July 2, 2002 at 13:53
Howe's second attempt at a supergroup rewards the listener with solid performances and catchy Trevor Rabin-esque melodies. Max Bacon's vocals remind me of Fergie Frederiksen, and that's a good thing.

Howe's second attempt at a supergroup rewards the listener with solid performances and catchy Trevor Rabin-esque melodies. Max Bacon's vocals remind me of Fergie Frederiksen, and that's a good thing. Ironically, this celebration of the GuiTaR is produced by none other than a keyboard player!! (Geoffery Downes). That's like watching a vegan flip burgers at your next company barbeque!

From: Andre Tekken Date: August 7, 2002 at 12:10
I call it project, souded like Yes yet progressive going a little bit into a more commercial mood.We also can notice some clean high pitch vocals from Max Bacon(same from Bronz/PhenomenaII)!Some couple of first songs are pretty nice even having a bit of anepic feel to them, commercial appeal etc...But right after that they become to get kinda boring.Understand, they begin well but right after that they just get nowhere.Seems kinda of lost.69/10.Guess I too experimental to be aor nor hard rock.

From: b casarin MEX Date: September 26, 2002 at 19:25
andre: boring? ,there are an excelent aor tunes in this album rating 87/100 salutes from Mexico!!!

From: Andre Tekken Date: November 8, 2002 at 10:27
Hail b casarinMEX I was metioning some of the last songs, witch I personally think that just take us nowhere!!If you liked the vocals delivered on this album try to listen to Bronz,Taken by Storm! That`s all folks.Big hug for all Mexican friends!!!!!!

Track #2 "The Hunter" has such a good sound to it - it's worth buying the album for that 1 song (if you like Asia get this CD!)

From: Gabi Date: February 10, 2003 at 19:28
Muy en la linea de YES de los 80 y ASIA. Interesante sólo por el hecho de tener en sus filas a grandes como la guitarra de Steve Howe,Max Bacon...Otro Super grupo de los que dío YES.

From: AORGOD Date: May 14, 2003 at 12:08
This is a classic AOR release. Max Bacon RULES and so do most of the songs on this gem. And yes i own this monster in my 7500+ cd collection (probably one of the largest in the world).

From: Scandinavia Date: September 19, 2003 at 10:17
Just found this one...Man, I was bored to sleep when the 3rd track started...Guess I'd expected something else...Hmmm...I think I'll give it another try before it ends up in the trash can :-)

From: Glen Date: September 22, 2003 at 4:57
Get the Remastered version on 'One Way' records. Sound quality is greatly improved on this well worth it CD by GTR.

From: Menstruador Date: January 30, 2004 at 0:01
Koogles, you say Bacon reminds you Fergie Frederiksen (TOTO). Yeah, I agree, but I would say that this guy is kinda a mix of Frederiksen and Jon Anderson (YES), don't you think?

From: Rycheage Date: March 13, 2004 at 23:34
'When The Heart Rules The Mind' has an interesting arrangement, but I don't think any other singer other than Bacon could've made it sound better. 'The Hunter' has classic Geoff Downes keyboard arrangements all over it, not surprising because he wrote it. A lovely effortless piece of work with drama and atmosphere coursing through it. 'Here I Wait' is fairly dramatic, complete with orchestral stabs and symphonic rock stylings.

From: Spicey Date: April 12, 2004 at 16:38
I had the Cassette years ago when it came out. I eventually lost it in a move, but always remembered that i liked it. I just came across a used CD at a Garage Sale the other day, and enjoyed the Heck out of it. Sure it's a little light in the pants and contrived, but it's a Solid Effort. I now am a Max Bacon Fan !

From: Rock Freak Date: April 21, 2004 at 10:12
Any GTR fan should check out "Bronz" with Max Bacon. A brilliant band with some awsome albums re-released on CD from LP. You could even say they are better than GTR.

From: wyrm Date: May 7, 2004 at 17:48
I recently picked up a live CD for a few bucks. I can imagine that this stuff was pretty amazing at the time, now it's just pretty average...

From: Big Papa K Date: June 13, 2004 at 1:18
Two legendary prog guitarists form a group and put out an aor album. Not too surprising considering Howe's success with Asia. Too bad that this can't match the quality of that group, as the talent was definately in the band. The opener is great, the rest is so-so. 5/10

From: zdunne Date: October 2, 2004 at 20:23
This is alright stuff from Howe and Hackett. I am surprised noone has submitted any albums form his tenure with Genesis on this site(after he left Genesis, group was still good but not nearly as cool to me as they were with Hackett0 or his solo material which I think is better than any of his former bandmates in Genesis solo material {Gabriel, Collins, Rutherford, etc...}.

From: Carlos A. Date: April 11, 2006 at 11:26
Fantastico disco! supergrupo con un estilo mezcla de aor y rock sinfonico. todos los temas son accesibles y evocan a grupos como Asia,Magnum y a los tambien ingleses Yes, el sonido es impecable ejemplos varios: "the hunter","Here I wait","You Can Still Get Through" este album cierra de modo impresionante qizas el con mejor tema aor-sinfonico que haya escuchado "Imagining" imprescindible!!! 8.9/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: December 2, 2006 at 22:24
Bland as drinking a good glass of red wine.Don't spect great guitar riffs ala FM.This an ADULT aor release only for self respected aor fans.Essential!.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 11, 2011 at 21:48
Adding the tracks to my comment of 2006..."When The Heart Rules The Mind","The Hunter" & "Here I Wait" are 3 killer ones by all means!!!... add to that "You Can Still Get Through","Reach Out(Never Say No)" & "Imagining"...pleasant album...smooth and strong at the same time...91/100

From: hair metal again Date: December 9, 2014 at 6:03
ok release by GTR back in the mid 80s!their sound is similar to YES,RUSH &ASIA of course ,the musicianship is very good ,but the songs arent as catchy as they should and the whole result isnt blowmindin!Max Bacon s vocs are very clear and powerful ,but i prefer warmer voices!"when the heart rules the mind" and "the hunter " are the best moments

From: Doug Date: January 28, 2015 at 18:54
Listening to this now, Max Bacon's vocals are quite good. GTR was one of those "super groups" that today seem to pop up every week!
