Wants You! Too commercial. Weak songs. 5.0 on the SWINE SCALE

From: CanadianMetal Date: June 17, 2001 at 10:16
Sorry but, this sucks! Sounds like something they would play on A.M. radio.

From: Mike G. Date: June 26, 2001 at 9:55
I don't what kind of drugs that the previous guys were on(they probably listen to that sucky skank-rap metal or some ridiculous hardcore metal & don't deserve to leave comments on this board), but this album rocks!! Everything about great hard rock/metal is defined in this record!! It is melodic, yet driving!! If you dig 80's metal with a driving edge and not some lame, boring every song sounds the same because I can't sing-I have to rap or scream til veins burst, then you need to get this!!!! W

From: Harlan Date: July 31, 2001 at 10:00
I agree with Mike G. This is a great, unheralded example of melodic 80s hard rock. Good riffs, excellent sing-along type rock songs. Just a fun album, all the way around. I can only imagine that the other two comments come from guys who thought Anvil was "the shit"...

From: T-BONE Date: August 11, 2001 at 9:40
I agree with the first 2 people, but this cd still deserves some recognition. It was weaker than the first, but still worth listening to.

From: T-BONE Date: August 11, 2001 at 9:42
By the way... Harlan and Mike G., I didn't like Anvil. I like good foot tappin' guitar driven, piss your mom off, loud, tongue-n-cheek Party rock!

From: cianka Date: September 14, 2001 at 3:05
i love Holy terror, thrash, speed, power metal ... and the GREAT Rough cutt! Wants you is a GREAT album, shortino seems a tiger. "Bad reputation" and "you wanna be a star": always fresh food for my car stereo!

From: hard life Date: October 3, 2001 at 9:08
this record really rocks, the definitive heavy rock is in this album, paul is a beast!!!!!!!!

From: SHAG Date: October 15, 2001 at 11:00
This was one the the most talented and underrated bands of the 80's!! They brought a driving brand of hard rock/metal that blazes!! If you don't have this, GET IT!!!!!!!!!

From: Ron Date: March 22, 2002 at 20:29
Found a vinyl copy of this record the other day. A great album! These boys have a very refreshing sound. Great guitar work and hard rocking songs. Great hooks! The last 3 songs are a little weak but the rest are top rate. Best cuts are the rockin' "Hot 'N' Heavy" and "We like it loud".

From: Federico(Italy) Date: March 23, 2002 at 1:51
I bought my vinyl copy for only about one dollar 12 years ago. That time I went to high school, I really love Take a chance with his positive message. Others favorites songs are Let'em talk and Double trouble(very funny video with Shortino dressed with the colours of the american flag and with two tall beautyful blondes).

From: Flashman Date: March 24, 2002 at 8:50
Check out Shortino's newest stuff at www.roughcutt.com, they've just announced the release of their new album (under the new name The CUTT), they've got a few kick ass demos available for download. Well worth the look, check out the title track Sacred Place, has a real 70's Metal sound. Later

From: ior Date: March 25, 2002 at 2:09
Got to say that when i heard the first lp i didnt think it could be bettered but..but this lp absoloutely floors the 1st. Yeah its more commercial but so what!! If there is a better lp to play in your car on a hot summers day then i havent found it yet!

From: David Date: July 1, 2002 at 4:12
These guys went on to form the excellent JAILHOUSE!

From: Shane Date: August 18, 2002 at 15:44
Probably my favorite 80's album period! Shortino has one of the best bluesy voices I have heard to date!

From: Kim Date: August 18, 2002 at 16:11
Shane.....Maybe youre not deaf after all.

From: 80's Boy Date: September 2, 2002 at 12:36
This Album rocks!!!! This is pure down to the bone crushing riffs that the 80's was and sould be about today.

From: TIM Date: September 30, 2002 at 9:38
These guys are boring. If you can't sleep -this will help.

From: HOTROD Date: October 14, 2002 at 2:35
Great album from a VERY underated band. Paul Shortino sings his ass off. The production is great. 'Don't Settle For Less' is my fave from this album.

From: pozerhatr Date: October 24, 2002 at 23:45

From: Scott G Date: January 2, 2003 at 3:23
I personally feel that this was a great CD better than the first one. This is completely what 1986 was about. The first two people must have also thought that VH's 5150 was awful, but it was just great rock, in the usa!!!!!!!!

From: RoxnRoll ITALY Date: May 16, 2003 at 21:15
This album is Fantastic I have a vinil of "I want's You" this is a good sound!!!

From: David Date: May 18, 2003 at 13:53
I have never heard this band but have always been very curious but them. I would just love to know why there are so many mix emotions on them. So many people hate them and so many people love them??

From: Dean Date: September 15, 2003 at 8:30
I'm suprised no one has mentioned Shortino's stint in Quiet Riot. I actually prefer that to the Rough Cutt material. One of these guys is in the nu-metal band Orgy now(Amir).

From: Gar Date: September 18, 2003 at 17:16
Amir has a brief role in the current film "Freaky Friday" as well. He plays the MC at the House of Blues.

From: CRIS 2003 Date: September 23, 2003 at 23:52
OHHH...WHAT ARE YOU GUY'S TALKIN'ABOUT...THIS IS ALMOST A LEGENDARY BAND...WITH ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCKSINGER IN THE WORLD ... SO GUY'S...ESPECIALLY THE FIRST 2 BIG MOUTH'S ...TAKE YOUR INSTRUMENTS AND SHOW THE WHOLE WORLD HOW A REAL GOOD PRODUCTION SOUNDS LIKE......GRETTINGS FROM " VIENNA "

From: wolfsram Date: September 28, 2003 at 4:27
If you want to hear what Free would have sounded like if formed in the early to mid 80s, this CD is it. I haven't tired of it in over 15 years.

From: SKELL Date: October 3, 2003 at 5:26
I was lucky enuff to see the band play at the reading festivel 1986 went out and bought the "Wants you" album. It still sounds up to date pitty they never made it mainstream becoz I think they would be MASSIVE !

I'm gonna go against the grain here, and say that "Wants You" is actually,IMHO,better than their debut release."Bad Reputation" is my favorite Cutt song PERIOD,and this disc also has the killer tracks "Rock the USA","We Like it Loud",and "Let 'em Talk".The other tracks are so-so. Even though some of the material on here is definitely "filler", Shortino shines as he always does; definitely one of my top 10 fave vocalists!

From: Rockhead Date: April 26, 2004 at 8:05
I never understood the appeal of this one. I thought it was pretty by numbers and uninspiring. I like the debut.

From: Mr M Date: May 4, 2004 at 19:18
Terrific sound and some really good tunes. The lyrics were a bit pony, but hey....

From: blitzkill Date: May 4, 2004 at 20:55
I have always been a huge Rough Cutt fan, I really love this one too. I saw them open up for Dio twice, they were in support of this album (no discs back then) Are they ever going to release this again? Hope so. http://home.earthlink.net/~gingis/

From: Chad Date: August 28, 2004 at 2:31
This is a quality release. While it is not as good as some of the stuff that came out in this era, it is worthwhile. I remember rocking out to this in high school. It is heavy on bass and vocals. Shortino does sing his ass off. Easily the best of all the Cutt records. I don'e believe there is an unlistenable song on the entire disk. If you are a fan of Danger Danger and Motley, you will love this album.

From: z4roxx Date: January 19, 2007 at 13:43
I think the debut is gooder but also this one is excellent.Paul Shortino Is a great singer and I consider”Take a chance”one of the best 80’s song ever heard.

From: RockMan10 Date: May 29, 2008 at 21:33
It was going to be next to impossible for the guys to do better than the debut but if it was even close, I knew I would love it. It was close and I loved it. Not as dark, more "poppy" and radio friendly while still rockin' very hard. Another great slab of fantastic music. 90/100

From: Pretty Boy Jim Date: April 10, 2009 at 21:10
At first I liked Rock the U.S.A. and that was about it. After all these years it's really grown on me. Now, I like it more than the first album. There are some really strong songs on this album.

From: hair metal again Date: July 17, 2014 at 7:44
yeap again a great one by ROUGH CUTT!such a great band and among the best of the pre hair ones, surely they could do more but they didnt have the big songs to push things further!on the other hand this is essential for every hard rocker and it s a fine slice of US hard rock music with fantastic vocs and musicianship and many good songs!brilliant!
