This is their best album with Bon Scott. just bad-ass!! 10+

From: fa-fa Date: April 22, 2001 at 8:07
AC/DC is one of the greatest band on earth but I'm wondering wheter their name came from anti christ/devil children?

From: Stu Date: June 13, 2001 at 23:58
First AC/DC album I owned. Bought it in 1979, Its been one of my fav's! And Girls do indeed got rythym! This album is a 10. AC/DC can play like no other band. No one gets a way with a 3 chord progression like these guys! Malcolm has solid rythyms, and Angus is just plan nut!

From: Dusty Date: July 8, 2001 at 20:53
This is and always will be a big favorite every song kicks ass but the best three are Highway to Hell,If You Want Blood, and Walk All Over You.

From: SHAG Date: October 15, 2001 at 13:20
Next to Back in Black, this is the best AC/DC album!! Definitely hard to beat!!! This is AC/DC at it's best!!! You can't get anything better!!! This is a must have for any hard rock fan!!!!

From: richierocker Date: May 25, 2002 at 14:00
Shot Down in Flames, pure kick ass rock n roll music.

From: Desslar Date: May 28, 2002 at 16:03
Awesome. One of their best - sleazy and mean. The song Night Prowler would be blamed in 1985 for influencing serial killer Richard Ramirez.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: June 27, 2002 at 22:19
I found out that a Bon Scott tribute CD was going to be released in June 2002 called 'Bonapetite.' I don't know if it came out yet or not? I haven't heard or seen anything about it.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: June 27, 2002 at 22:23
Did you know that Bon Scott's last concert before he died was on January 27th 1980 in Southhampton, UK (Gaumont)? The opening act was Diamond Head, and the show was sold out.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 27, 2002 at 22:43
Jason!! Tommy Paris sings 'rock n roll Damnation on it.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 27, 2002 at 22:46
A rock masterpiece!! I absolutly love 'Shot down in Flames', 'Girls Got rhythm'. and of course 'Highway to Hell' 'Beating around the Bush' is cool too. all the songs rock. But the ones I mentioned individualy are my personal favorites.

From: dokken6008 Date: July 8, 2002 at 5:14
I always found this to be by far Bon's best album with AC/DC, and I'm not saying that just because 'Highway To Hell' is on it. Besides the obvious, I find 'If You Want Blood (You've Got It)' (it may also be the ONLY AC/DC tune to fade out out at the end), 'Touch Too Much', 'Get It Hot' and 'Walk All Over You' to be among Bon's greatest AC/DC material. 'Highway To Hell' should not be ignored as the entire record provides top-of-the-line rockin' tracks 1-10.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 8, 2002 at 17:36
I have to disagree with you D-6008. The best music Bon ever wrote was for the Back In Black album! AC/DC will never give him credit for those songs, but he did write them. Before he died, him, Angus, and Malcolm were in the studio working on their new album. Angus on guitar, Malcolm on bass, and Bon on drums. I've never heard of any demo's, but I read that Bon's girlfriend at the time SAW Bon's lyrics for RnR Ain't Noise Pollution.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 8, 2002 at 17:45
Also, if you really listen to the lyrics on the Back In Black album, you can tell that's Bon's work. For instance......'Back in black, hit the sack, BEEN GONE TO LONG, I'M GLADE TO BE BACK.' What does Brian mean 'Glade to be back?' This is his 1st album!! AND 'She made a meal out of me.' That is Soooooo Bon Scott saying something like that! After Back In Black, Brian never quite 'wrote' lyrics like that again. Just something for you to think about??????????????

From: Knuckles Date: July 8, 2002 at 18:05
I heard an even more vicious rumour that there are indeed tapes of Angus doing Back in Black and a few other tracks dont know how true it is but if they do exist, somebody should go to jail keeping them this long.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 8, 2002 at 18:30
Here is what I have strait out of one of my books. 'Several close associates of Bon's maintain to this day that, while he wasn't credited for penning any lyrics on this album, they had actually been shown some of the lines used on the album by Bon himself - written in his own hand.' The book also says that Brian didn't have any time to write lyrics for the album. While the band was rehearsing for the album, Brian was doing interviews and had no time to contribute any lyrics.

From: Desslar Date: July 8, 2002 at 19:22
Bon Scott wrote 'Back in Black'????????? Did his astrologer tell him he was going to die? He had a lot of talent, but I don't think he could see the future.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 8, 2002 at 19:50
Desslar, are you being sarcastic? Bon was always writing lyrics. He always carried a notebook with him everywhere and when something came to mind he would write it down. Remember! He died in Feb. 1980 and the album Back In Black was completed by the end of May 1980. DESSLAR, do you really think that AC/DC grieved then looked for a singer and wrote one of the biggest albums of all time in just under 3 months???? Brian Johnson didn't have any time to write with the interview tour he was doing.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 9, 2002 at 16:55
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BON SCOTT!!!! (where ever you are). Bon was born on this day back in 1946 in Kirriemuir, Scotland. He would have been 56 years old.

From: Desslar Date: July 9, 2002 at 17:36
'Back in Black' was a tribute to Bon. Why would they be 'Black' if Bon hadn't died? The song states 'I've got cat's eyes, nine lives, forget the hearse 'cause I'll never die'. The band is making a statement that even without Bon they will go on. It doesn't make sense for Bon to have written those lyrics about his own death.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 9, 2002 at 17:56
Did you read what I said yesterday? NOOOOOOOO you didn't!!! 'Several close associates of Bon's say they had been shown SOME of the lines used on the album.' Angus and Malcolm more than likely finished the rest of the lyrics. Now, I'm not saying that all of this is true. It is just something that has been debated over the years.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 9, 2002 at 18:56
One more thing, Desslar. Your sarcastic remark about Bon seeing the future. WELLLLLLL....... There is a song by AC/DC called 'Carry Me Home' and in that song Bon predicts his own fate. This song was never released in the US but I have a copy with the lyrics. And I quote....... 'I'm DEAD DRUNK and HEAVIN' hangin' upside down 'n' you're gettin' up and leavin' do you think I'M GONNA DROWN.' Now what do you think about that, Desslar? Bon ended up drowning from heaving! He choked on his own vomit.

From: dokken6008 Date: July 21, 2002 at 7:44
jason...... Seriously. When I read that line from 'Carry Me Home', I nearly cried. It is just so crazy it must be true. Thank you for typing that.

From: Desslar Date: July 21, 2002 at 23:20
Is it just me, or at the end of Night Prowler does Bon do an impression of Mork from the TV show Mork and Mindy? 'Shazbat. Nanoo-nanoo.' Or something like that. At the time this album was released Mork and Mindy was on the air so....

From: Steve T Date: September 2, 2002 at 7:52
3 words......TOUCH TOO MUCH. The band's best album and ,with TTM, they wrote their best song.

From: J Scott Date: October 28, 2002 at 19:44
how this album only rates a 7.5 is beyond me. If thius isn't the Ultimate Classic Rock album, nothing is. I agree with Steve T, TTM is an awesome song.

From: The FIzzy One Date: October 28, 2002 at 21:15
Uh-HUH! Only one song here doesn't quite measure up, and that is 'Love Hungry Man.' Everything else is completely boot-in-ass, even despite the excessive airplay given to the first two songs. I generally find myself listen to tracks 3-8. THe Fizz Picks: 'Touch Too Much' (YEAH!), 'Beatin' Around the Bush' and 'If You Want Blood.' A solid 9.5, and my favorite along with Let There Be Rock.

From: iaffprofireman Date: November 23, 2002 at 20:47
This one and Back in Black may be their 2 best works. (AC/DC I don't think ever put out a bad album, however!) There are some incredible songs on it. Myself and my buddy Art both agree, the groups like this made the 70's, 80's and early 90's a great era for music. 980f these new groups flat out suck! No melody, no consistancy, and the guitars are not as crisp and clean as groups like these were! ( I think the new groups try to hide their playing deficiencies that way! ) The older stuff is stil

Bon Scott died 23 years ago TODAY. Feb. 19th Bon had been drinking with a friend named Alistar Kinnear at a club called the Music Machine in London's Camden Town. The pair left the club at 3am, by which time Bon had reporedly consumed 7 double whiskeys. Later on Bon feel asleep in the car and Alistair went inside the house. When he checked on Bon at 7:45pm on the evening of the 21st, Bon was died. The coroner reported that Scott's stomach had contained the equivalent of 1/2 a bottle of whiskey.

used to have it then my dad lost it, i was pissed, the second best ac/dc cd A 10! I plan on buying it again soon

From: Gar Date: May 15, 2003 at 23:14
A true masterpiece! The band never wanted 'Love Hungry Man' on the album, but producer Mutt Lange did. It does sound a little out of place among the other songs, but its really not bad at all. BACK IN BLACK was the album all the critics loved, but HIGHWAY TO HELL is every bit as good.

As a remark to the conversation between Jason & Desslar about Bon writing or not writing lyrics for 'Back in Black', I'd say that Bon has written some quite self-destructive lyrics (about the wild lifestyle) for nearly every album before Back in Black, so I don't think there's anything 'prophetic' in the fact that he would write about his own death on the next-to-be album as well. Neither do I believe that he knew he was going to die. Anyway, the band has told that everything was (continues...)

From: visitor Date: August 18, 2003 at 9:33
(...continues) ready for the new album before they even asked Brian to join. So, all he had to do was to record the vocals. That would certainly suggest that someone else than Brian has written the lyrics. If Bon didn't finish all lyrics before his death, it must have been Angus and Malcolm doing the rest. That would explain why there are some lines which indeed seem to be written as a tribute from the grieving ones to someone gone away. Why would Brian have done that? He barely knew Bon!

From: Great Dane Date: September 24, 2003 at 22:42
Just heard the british band The Darkness. Damn good music, but the vocals puzzles me. Its really weird, but again, the music is phenomenal.

From: Kristian Date: September 25, 2003 at 3:53
Yeah, The Darkness is pretty good. The vocals are indeed wierd, kinda like Michael Flexig from Zeno. I'll submit the cd in a day or two, and comment on it there.

I was disappointed by this album when it first came out. After the hardness of LTBR and the groove of Powerage, the pop edge of this album didn't sit well. Of course, that's due to The Ruiner Of Everything He Produces, Mutt Lange. However, time has been kind to this album - 25 years later it's better than ever. MY GOD was Bon's death a HUGE loss, really up there with Morrison and Hendrix.

From: sinner Date: February 22, 2004 at 5:33
GREATEST RECORD ON THE PLANET!!!!!! ***IF IT EXISTS, A DREAM WOULD BE HEARING BON BELT OUT THE BACK IN BLACK ALBUM LIKE WE KNOW HE DID!!!WITH CHARACTER, HUMOUR & SHARP WIT, BON IS QUITE OBVIOUSLY A HUGE PART OF THAT ALBUM AS WELL AS ALL THE CLASSIC PREDECESSORS...if you've ever listened to Geordie it's easy to see who's lyrics those are, but I still love Brian for what he does. He's no Bon, but you couldn't have got a better replacement. R.I.P BON, Rock In Peace

From: Keith Date: March 20, 2004 at 9:56
Only one person's opinion.... AC/DC's two best albums came out back to back. Highway to Hell and Back in Black. Which one you like best is probably determined by which lead singer you like best. Bon or Brian? I think Bon brought more to the game. It has always sounded to me like Brian has to force his voice to sound the way it does, while Bon's was far more natural. Like I said, just one person's opinion. Shazbod, Nanoo Nanoo.

From: Randy Date: April 26, 2004 at 1:15
My favorite AC/DC songs are If You Want Blood(You've got it) and Love Hungry Man! I also like Bon's singing better than Brian's.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 19, 2004 at 1:03
What else has to be said about this album. Mutt Lange comes in and cleans up the production, but the songs become even more consistent than past releases. So many classics on this album it is useless to list favorites. 10/10

From: keebler Date: July 9, 2004 at 2:33

From: tyler Date: November 1, 2004 at 15:07
night prowler is amazing and is one of my favs. Best album next to back in black. I also love love hungry man and if you want blood.

From: Rycheage Date: November 5, 2004 at 18:43
A more polished AC/DC due to 'Mutt' Lange's classy production. More melodic than past efforts. Like Big Papa K said, it's useless to list best songs as they are all great. Fantastic release that sees the promise of a great band become realized on a whole album scale not just a song here or there. A must own.

From: Elton Braga Date: November 8, 2004 at 11:50
This album and Back In Black are really their best ones! Just songs as Love Hungry Man, Touch Too Much and Beating Around The Bush make this album a classic, but let me go, 'cuz 'I'm On A Highway To Hell...' Ha, ha...

From: akisryche Date: February 8, 2006 at 8:53
Highway To Hell is one of the best pure hard in your face rock releases ever recorded!Personally I think AC/DC is one of those bands that had gave, us the fans, the privilege of hearing rock music in a constand timeline.Meaning that they have released high quality records continuosly. The albums with Bon Scott are my favorites(exception Back In Black). Nuff Said go byu Highway To Hell!!!!!

From: akisryche Date: February 8, 2006 at 9:00
One more thing.AC/DC stands for Alternative Current/Direct Current. This sign can be found on, in almost all electric household devices like vacuum cleaners for example...And thanks to Malcolm's and Angus's sister's vacuum cleaner AC/DC goth their name and not through this 'antichrist/devils children' bullshit you occasionally hear...

From: aMetalhead1966 Date: February 13, 2006 at 16:07
Most Certainly the Darkest AC/DC release.I read that Mutt Lange was SO unsure of Bon that he told the Record Co big-wigs that they should find another Singer for the Band...Of course as we all know Bon was on the edge and what a shame of the outcome that came of him. This is a Great Release...RIP Bon!!!

From: roisin dubh Date: May 24, 2006 at 12:42
stunning album full of classic tracks. Can't fault any of it

From: Metalmusicman Date: January 2, 2007 at 18:08
Hands down, the best album the band did with Bon in the band. The production is better, the guitar grooves are bigger, and the songs are just plain better. Way more melodic than previous efforts, but still rockin' as hell. This one made both the nay-sayers and rock radio take notice and give credit where it was due finally. Then there's the songs. 'Highway To Hell', 'Girl's Got Rhythm', 'Walk All Over You', and the incredible 'Touch Too Much' are some of the best this band has ever done!!!

From: Lennie Date: August 17, 2007 at 8:24
Without a doubt 'Highway to Hell', 'Touch too Much', 'Walk All Over You' & 'Shot Down in Flames' are 4 of the greatest AC/DC tracks. The quality dips on the second half of the album and I rarely listen beyond track 6.

From: matt_redjane Date: March 8, 2008 at 23:24
As good as Back in Black is, this is my favorite album by AC/DC. Bon just wails and there is not a single song on this album that isnt an AC/DC classic.

From: edwithmj Date: August 12, 2008 at 17:04
My favourite AC/DC album by far. First four songs are truly classic. Walk All Over You is one of my favourite tracks of all time!

From: pie75 Date: March 5, 2009 at 7:37
jason i think ur grasping 4 straws mate bon never wrote the lyrics 2 the back in black album i read the book 2 how could u beleive a couple of junkies who bon was fucking he played drums on some demos that's it brian had some help from the youngs and mutt lange back 2 this album what can i say that hassn't already been said it's a materpiece and ac/dc became the best band in the world and bon left with a bang and will always be remembered nealy every band after this would be influenced and try 2 copy the mighty ac/dc there will never be another bon he had more charisma than any singer out there may he rest in peace forever absoloute essential if u like any sort of rock or metal

From: juan carlos Date: April 29, 2009 at 19:36

What more can i write. A Really True MASTERPIECE. R.I.P. BONFIRE! 1000/10

My favorite AC/DC album, and I can't believe I never commented before. It may be that there's no such thing as a "bad" AC/DC album, but Highway To Hell stands above the rest. The title track and "Girls Got Rhythm" have been overplayed on radio, but deeper within, we get such treasures sa "Walk All Over You," "Touch TOo Much, "Beatin' Around The Bush" (I guess with the band's spelling conventions, that should be "Beaten ..."), "Shot Down In Flames" an "Night Prowler. "Love Hungry Man" is perfectly all right, but next to such gems, is the only track to hat fails to stand up.

An album that features one of the most emblematic Rock & Roll songs in the history of music in the shape of "Highway To Hell"...some other fine moments in here are tracks 2,4,5 & 8...85/100
