an excellent compilation that was released in the nineties and not in the eighties if i'm not mistaken.. also quite limited, mine is signed.. tomcat@dolfijn.nl

Why weren't these guys huge? Great vocals and solid songs. This is why I watched the headbangers ball! Bands as good as this just never got the proper respect they deserved. Modern rock will never be as cool as this no matter what happens. I miss this sound so much.

From: glaze Date: May 30, 2002 at 21:17
Icon was one of the best Metal bands of the 1980s. There music was much better then most of the trash on Headbangers ball. People who never had the chance to listen to ICON really missed out!!!

From: koogles Date: November 14, 2002 at 9:16
This is the ICON CD that you want. The best of their releases, this is steeped in great melodies, flawless production and a less-metal, more AOR approach. If you're like I was and thought Icon was just okay, this CD will take them to the next level for you and make you really appreciate them.

From: Andy Date: December 27, 2002 at 19:56
This Cd is absolutely great.A must have for any AOR fan out there...maybe their best.I miss that stuff!!

From: Magnus Date: August 28, 2003 at 9:13
Great cd!! If you like bands such as Tour de force,After hours and Red Dawn..Their best and most AOR oriented cd..Go and get it!!

From: 80sMetal1 Date: November 13, 2003 at 17:14
I've been looking for this one for sooooo long but I just can't find it anywhere!!

From: Paul Ryan Date: November 13, 2003 at 18:24
Hey 80sMetal1, keep checking on eBay. I've just bought a copy off there and got it today. I'm listening to it right now. Be prepared to pay a lot for it though!!!! I think it's the best of all the Icon albums. Less of a straight ahead metal approach and more AOR in style. Excellent production and each song has an catchy hook. Dan Wexler, although he didn't really like this album plays some great guitar riffs. Hard to track down and very expensive but definitely worth it.

From: Trick Taylor Date: January 16, 2004 at 15:04
I guess I just don't get it. This thing is chuck-full-o-crappy AOR and try-too-hard lyrics. Boring as hell. I would have liked a harder edge ala Right Between the Eyes and less GuffriaNightRangerSnake.

ICON is Sthepen Clfford

From: TIM (2) Date: June 25, 2004 at 4:42
Ignoring the ropey production, this is a monster AOR release. Swathed in keys and big melodies this is their finest moment by some distance. 'In Your Eyes' and 'Better Left Unsaid' (despite both sounding incredibly similar to each other) are my two faves. I got this on a different re-issue; 2 on 1 CD with 'Night of the Crime'...

From: Geoff Date: February 10, 2005 at 6:03
There are a few tracks here where Icon really sounded as though they wanted to be fluffy AOR when we all know they're killer melodic hard rock. That said, 'In your eyes' is as good as melodic hard rock gets - I love that song, 'Way back ot my heart', 'Strong love' and 'Gold bullets' are all first class gems too. 'Better left unsaid' is nice too and there are other highlights, but the the more poppy/AOR side of Icon does not shine as their melodic hard rocking expertise does.

From: al676677 Date: August 5, 2005 at 11:42
wow, I just can't get enough of this cd.. STRONG LOVE is my favorite, I just love those moody swings and catchy chourus.... LONG LIVE MELODIC ROCK/AOR!!!

From: Nick C Date: November 12, 2005 at 21:13
This is easily as good as Night of the Crime, it probably even surpasses it. Jerry Harrisons vocals are bang on with this release proving he was a more than adequate replacement for Stephen Clifford. Like Night again the territory fights it out between AOR and melodic metal with the AOR approach gaining the upper hand. Call it 'hard AOR'...the best kind hahaha !!

From: Nix Date: March 9, 2007 at 7:38
I would have called this album 'The Greatest AOR Album Of All Time', if it wasn't for the dreadful song 'Sweet Young Sinner'. That song is totally out of place and probably would suit better on their album after this. However, this is still an excellent release. There are 17 songs here, and 16 of them are superb! Love the choruses and love the guitar. The guitars really remind me of Lynch. I really liked 'The Night Of The Crime', but that didn't prepare me for this.. One of the best albums ever!

From: Axe-Machine Date: July 1, 2007 at 11:00
A change of direction to a more AOR sound didn't do them any favors commercially, but that doesnt mean it isnt a good album. Tracks like 'In Your Eyes' and 'Eyes of a Prisoner' are awesome. Certainly a welcome addition to their discography and ranks up there with Night of the Crime.

From: lalo r.o.c.k. Date: March 24, 2009 at 22:47
Melodies and amazing riffs in all the album, melodic hard rock,AOR, at itīs finest,Lost love, what a song!and my favorite,Eyes of a prisoner and Way back to my heart are masterpieces too,Night of the crime was a perfect Hard rock album, this is near to AOR perfection10/10,ICON rules...

From: metalhead4life Date: May 14, 2009 at 11:42
Good consistent disc of hard rock/AOR. Has some good songs here and none are really weak. Only problem is there's not a real standout song here - one that's so memorable and over the top. I think that's what their problem was as far as making it big. They had some good songs and were consistent, just not that top notch single. 80/100 and worth having in your collection and on a decent car ride.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 13, 2010 at 18:32
An even more perfect union,an even more perfect album!!!..a great album, solid and overall with good songs...my faves tracks are "Forever Young","Lost Love"& "Stranger Things"..another catchy tracks are "In Your Eyes","Local Heroes","Walk Away","Hold On" and "Way Back To My Heart"...Icon has reunited again and is playing some concerts in the States with the original singer..this band started as a hard rock/metal act with their debut album and then became more melodic..check out their other albums, good stuff indeed.95/100

From: the rocker Date: December 27, 2011 at 13:58
Better left unsaid is just awesome, and along with A Far Cry are my 2 favorites from this band. Right between the eyes is an all around better cd than this, with some of the same songs on it.

From: juan carlos Date: December 27, 2011 at 14:36
Night of the Crime was with another singer (Average singer but with a wonderful music), this album is better because the singer is better! so my favorite ICON Album is this!! AN EVEN MORE PERFECT UNION Is the BEST ICON album, Perfect Music/Singer! Anything more!? 90/100

From: titothetitan Date: August 9, 2018 at 14:19
I'm not as impressed as I was with 'Night of the Crime'. Maybe due the awful prodution put in this one (just listen to the annoying drum sound). The new singer is good, though.

From: titothetitan Date: November 18, 2019 at 19:57
juan carlos are you nuts? Stephen Clifford is a hell of a singer and the TRUE singer of Icon.

From: titothetitan Date: November 7, 2023 at 23:45
Bad production, bad singer, boring. I can't get into the songs, sorry, very very bad album.
