From: Jenni Date: January 19, 2002 at 17:25
This is one of the best sounding Stryper CD out! I have em all, but this is the best. Always there for you has got to be their best song! One of my favorite bands!

From: IVAN 777. Date: January 24, 2002 at 18:44
Realmente es de lo mejor sobre Rock! No paseis sin escuchar a este grupo y en especial este disco...ALWYS THERE FOR YOU.........STRYPER!!!~777~

From: Tony Date: April 11, 2002 at 7:32
Possibly the most overproduced, slick hair band album of all time. Whatever 'raw' and 'soulful' is this is the antithesis of that. Hey I love Stryper but check out ANY other of their cd's before this one. This is what happens when producers and engineers are allowed to run amuck!! Doesn't have any 'human' soul to it.

From: Cephas Date: April 14, 2002 at 15:16
Although IGWT made $tryper some money, this isn't their best work. And, though some people claim it's a carbon copy of the band's previous hit, 'To Hell with the Devil,' it's not. It's AOR schlock. Michael $weet gives up on this one & writes uninspired verse-chorus-chorus songs, like the title track. Ugh! 'Oh, people were criticizing us!' Boo, hoo. Unless $tryper was strung out on drugs, there's no excuse for this crappola.

From: Cephas Date: April 15, 2002 at 12:17
Addendum to previous: There ARE a handful of good songs on this: The title track (too short, tho!), 'It's up 2 U', 'The Writing's on the Wall', &c. But, there is schlock as well, rather than growth. Compared to SUC or THWTD, this one's a step backwards. BTW, was anyone else troubled by Robert Sweet's 'come hither', effeminate pose on the back??

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 17, 2002 at 12:06

From: Baris Date: September 6, 2002 at 5:23
The album really affected me. No matter what their religious beliefs are, I listen to their music and hear those perfect melodies. Some people may find the song 'I believe in uuu' as 'too pop to become pop-rock!'. But those guys totally know what they do and act in self-esteem. The whole Side A is shining, esp. the sugar melody of 'Keep The Fire Burning' Side B; mmmmmm!, a typical Side B, you know!, but not bad. I also love the album covers of this band very much. The band name logo is excellent.

From: Baris Date: September 10, 2002 at 6:33
Do you think 'I believe In You' can be a Celine Dion song???!!!!!!

From: nitrodoll Date: October 14, 2002 at 1:51
what i remember about this album is the crystal clear sound...i never heard such a sound before...perfect..the songs were ok too, although i prefer a more heavier stryper. i never regretted buying stryper's music...

From: Brian Date: October 27, 2002 at 9:38
This is my favorite Stryper CD. What's wrong with having a good production? it resulted in some great songs. The harmonies are excellent, and in general the CD is uplifting and fun. Tracks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 10 are wonderful. By the way Always There For You to me seems to have a sentimental sadness to the melody, kinda gives me a lump in my throat. I guess I'm a softy.

the following is fact and not opinion cause its coming from me: stryper is a good band who i listen to when i wanna be in a good mood. if you dont like their message, dont listento their music. they try to help teach people things, but they dont judge anyone. manowar are the kings of metal; stryper are the kings of christian metal. believe what i say, for god has blessed me with a lot of wisdom.

From: Louis Date: January 29, 2003 at 1:34
Hey.Stryper seems pretty cool.I just recenty saw two of their videos Always There for You & Shining Star.I loved them both but I don't have any of their albums. What I do have are some questions. It seems to me that in the 'ShiningStar' video Oz Fox had a mustache. That angers me because it's not hair band traditon.I was wondering if there are any pictures of this band in the 'Against the Law'album. If someone could e-mail me at louis_caruso@hotmail.com to discuss this quickly I'd appreciate it.

From: Steve F. Date: February 8, 2003 at 22:38
Here's just a regular opinion...this is Stryper's worst album out of the lot. Too polished, too AOR, most of the songs sound they were churned out as Top-40 hits. But I still like most of the playing, so...a 7.

A great follow to TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL. Some songs are great, I mean SOME songs. I still don't dig christian. But these guys made everyone listen to their songs one way or another.

From: yayoruben Date: December 22, 2003 at 11:56
INCREIBLEEE!!!. La canci'n de In God we Trust es de lo mejorcito que he o'do en la escena heavy.

From: Johnny Cat Date: January 8, 2004 at 4:45
Not as good as THWTD,but still some good catchy tunes.Micheal Sweet has a great voice, and Robert Sweet is an underrated drummer.Over-slick production, but what do ya expect. It's happy, positive pop-metal.It supposed to be sugary-sweet.Totally inoffensive, which is the point.

Stryper nor anyone else doesn't need permission. They speak of truth. Life holds only one truth. In god we trust is one raging album. I am so glad they are back together again. Now Off to the Studio Guys!

From: AORQUEST Date: February 9, 2004 at 22:22
HONESTLY, THIS IS THE FIRST STRYPER CD I HEARD. AFTER HEARING THIS ONE, I REALIZE THAT THIS IS THE BEST ALONG WITH TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL. I HAVE ORDERED AGAINST THE LAW, BUT I AM HEARING FROM DIFFERENT CRITIQUES THAT THIS ALBUM IS A LOT LIKE A CRUE KNOCKOFF OR SOMETHING OR OTHER. TO ME, AND THE REST OF YOU CAN AGREE, BUT I THINK THE BEST CUT OFF THIS ALBUM IS 'ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU.' ITS A GOOD SEMI BALLAD....MINUS HALF THE SUGAR. THIS WHOLE ALBUM ROCKS THOUGH. GOOD WORK MICHAEL SWEET.....KEEP T

forget 'the message'.as a drummer you'd think i'd listen to the words.i do,but for me its the music on this & t.h.w.t.d.both worth a listen if you can find them.they still stand up on their own merit.very underrated band.with release of the new best of cd and the reunion tour, could a new cd be in the works? we'll have to wait and see.i have a large piece of one of their road cases w/ the bands logo on it.don't know what to do with it.maybe i'll make a table out of it.

Not their best album, but good pop metal though! Anyway, you all know that Stryper rule!

2 really good ballads. Lots of catchy pop. 2 thumbs up.

From: blueblood Date: September 18, 2004 at 11:44

From: Geoff Date: September 19, 2004 at 2:45
The lyrics in the first song are everything I hate about Stryper, but the massive drums and big, beefy sound is everything I love about them. The first track has a killer riff, 'Always there for you' is a commercial monster of a track - I love it and 'The world of you and I' is brilliant melodic hard rock. The ballads are sickening and there are fillers, but musically they sound awesome and there are some gems.

From: jessica96fish Date: September 21, 2004 at 4:05
hey geoff.i hear what your saying about the lyrics.but most i think can be taken two ways.i think on some if you didn't know they were christian.you wouldn't know.but thats why they did against the law.because michael said.if the only reason people didn't like them.was because of the lyric content.then they would leave it out.

From: Jgg Date: September 24, 2004 at 8:34

From: Kryiis Karl Date: October 22, 2004 at 2:26
They should issue a live recording with preaches between the songs, think they would sell millions in today's United States of God !!! George Bush should hire them for his campaign musical anthem !!! So clich', throwing bibles with Bush face on the cover and with dollars between each pages = sure they could do this in today's America. Though this recording is a very good one, Christian Rock is somewhat ridiculous. I'm not talking about God or religion but the use of it. makes me puke.

From: Scott Date: October 22, 2004 at 7:59
Ehhhhhh, been watching to many Kerry campaign commercials Kryiis? Stryper were just doing what everyone else were doing, expressing themselves through their music. Why is is bad to speak your beliefs to good music? Christian rock and metal rules! Stryper rules! No go take your puke elsewhere.

From: Kryiis Karl Date: November 3, 2004 at 0:51
I don't want to debate too much on that site that is about music though I would have many things to say. I just say again that my meaning is about men using religion not against it whatever the religion. Anyway, next LP from Stryper 'Against the law' dressed up in prisoners (!!??!!) Don't tell me it was for fun. talikng about God in a song ok but making it your whole marketing business plan... I'm sure Kerry claims himself a great believer (his aim is also to win the pool and God is THE salesman

From: Joan Date: November 11, 2004 at 14:32
Lonely, Always there for you...muy buenas

From: Joan Date: February 18, 2005 at 15:52
Las que me ponen +tierno son 'The world of you and I' y 'i believe in you'

From: (CZ)mark-t Date: August 27, 2005 at 14:03
Hey people all albums from STRYPER is magical try all very very good 10/10 all albums.Very heart very pomp.I LOVE YOU STRYPER.And new album REBORN very BAD.Bad sound not like old alb.(very bombastic Sound)this bad sound.

From: 'el gran ako' Date: November 30, 2005 at 9:01
Ignoro si se pod'a sacar un disco mejor que el 'to hell with the devil', a mi juicio no lo consiguieron, pero este disco suena tambi'n muy bien, con los mismos ingredientes que el anterior. Melod'as y coros angelicales, guitarras afiladas y ca'a a veces; preciosas baladas y medios tiempos...

From: poproxx2007 Date: February 6, 2006 at 20:15
This is an excellent CD. 'I Believe In U' is a beautiful song and one of my favorite. 'Always The For You', 'World Of You And I', 'It's Up To You' and the title track are brilliant melodic rock tracks. 'The Reign' was a kick in the ass few expected and 'Lonely' was a good follow-up ballad to 'honestly'. Dont know why anybody would put this down if they love Pomp, Aor, Metal or just good hard rock in general. My favorite Stryper release hands down and one of the greatest cd's of all time. 10/10

From: DANTE Date: June 7, 2006 at 5:47
JUNTO CON TO HELL... SUS DOS MEJORES OBRAS PARA M'. ES UN DISCO SUPERAOR, CON UNOS COROS DE IMPRESI'N. GENIAL. STRYPER COJONUDOS. 'IT'S UP TO YOU' O 'ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU', IMPRESIONANTES. LOS TENGO EN VINILO DESDE QUE SALIERON Y SON VERDADERAS JOYAS PARA M'.

From: SangreAzulForever Date: February 21, 2007 at 18:26
I think that SUC (2nd), THWTD (3rd) and this one are essential for any AOR fan proud to be it! The music is excellent, nice piece of work by mr. Michael Sweet's side and good production as well. Maybe in this one there are more ballads or almost-ballads but, on whole, fantastic to all aspects. Buy it! 10/10.

From: Nix Date: March 1, 2007 at 5:33
'Always There For You' is one of my favorite Stryper songs. I love all the songs except track 8, which has to be their worst song up to this point and track 9 is just OK for me. 'The World Of You & I' has to be the most overlooked Stryper song. Michael Sweet has to be at his peak here, vocally. He is by far one of the best singers I've ever heard! If not the best! Michael Sweet said his least fav. Stryper song was 'It's Up 2 U'... But I like it and IMO, it's better than 'Sing-Along Song'.

From: TONI MALLORCA Date: October 25, 2007 at 5:35

This is a great Pop-Metal album, what can I say? My mom loves this album, I do, my wife does and so does my daughter and she's not even 2 years old yet. Stryper just have the ability to write infectious songs, and no matter how you wanna brand them, they got talent. I give this album 10/10

Great album!!!!....it contains one of the most fantastic songs that the band has ever delivered "Always There For You" plus some other great ones such as "In God We Trust","Keep The Fire Burning","I Believe In You"(beautiful lyrics and a very beautiful ballad indeed),"The Writing On The Wall" & "The Reign"( a kick a** song)....enjoybale release from head 2 toes...90/100

From: hair metal again Date: December 15, 2011 at 4:32
excellent release by STRYPER back in 88 !all the songs are great from heavyrockers to commercial hard rock ones and i d say that the only problem is the production which is a little bit plastic and has no life in it!"i believe in you","always there for you" ,"the world of you &i" and "keep the fire burning" are classics and IN GOD WE TRUST with its unique artwork becomes a classic

From: AJManiac666 Date: July 22, 2021 at 21:37
30% in my book it somehow does not go too heavy in this one. Sweet sounds like he's singing just like a woman and sounding worse like Whitney Houston. This one gets a little peppy with soft sounding guitars not like Barren Cross or Neon Cross. So I really think this isn't my favorite album by them and I'm sure Against The Law is a great one!

From: Eric Date: April 21, 2023 at 13:12
Personally I loved this album then and I do now. It has a very produced multi-layered sound, which many wanted at the time (Leppard, Scorpions et al), but sound is good! The drums are just fantastic, that snare is just my taste! Yes, a ballad/slow song too many, some filler, maybe, but many really good songs and the singles were great. Title track, Writings and Reign, are just as heavy as other heavy Stryper tunes and rock hard, I believe in you is as good as Honestly or almost, and Always there for you should have been a smash hit, very very good. According to Michael, this album sold almost platinum in the US, almost as successful as To hell with the devil. Songs are hard to play live, so many layers and harmonies, but title track and Always There For You are still quite often in the setlists. Overall a very successful album and one of my favourites from Stryper.
