Saw them live in Pittsburgh in '87 great show! They rock!

From: GIORGOS Date: April 18, 2001 at 4:46
Really powerful album . 'Surrender' could be one of the heavy-rock anthems of the 80s.

From: Lloyd Date: June 10, 2001 at 9:16
The best there was and the best there ever will be band! 'Waiting for a love that's real' is the greatest! Long live Stryper!

From: Mike G. Date: June 27, 2001 at 13:39
Who say's God doesn't like rock n roll? Well, God smiled down on these guys!! Don't let the way they look fool you!! Behind all of the yellow and black spandex is truly one of the hardest rockin bands you'll ever hear!! Their music is powerful, yet melodic and spiritual, and each member is extremely talented!! Each and every song on this album is awesome!!! GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: josh Date: July 16, 2001 at 11:21
This cd rocks. The rock that makes me roll is got to be one of the best metal songs i've heard. It also has a great message as well

From: Cephas Date: April 15, 2002 at 12:06
'Soldiers Under Command' is the Stryper classic most people have never heard of. Unfortunate, 'cause it rocks! SUC is a lot edgier & more Heavy Metal than 'To Hell with the Devil' or 'In God We Trust'; the band isn't as glammed out as on the other CD's - & the music reflects that. Even the ballads, like 'First Love', are satisfying. This is a must-have not only for any Stryper fan, but also for fans of good Hair Metal. As usual, the guys love Christ - but, don't beat you over the head with Him.

From: Desslar Date: April 15, 2002 at 12:21
The ballads are awful, but the crushing metal of the opening track carries the album.

From: Friday 13th Date: May 23, 2002 at 5:42
Probably the best album this band put out. If you take the best trax from each album then you would of had a killer album, but Stryper had to mix some good songs wit some not so good songs on each album. Check it out - right Ian?

MASTERPIECE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL, GOD BLESS ROCK'N'ROLL

From: Harry Date: January 5, 2003 at 19:28
I recently listened to this CD two weeks ago, and thought that if STRYPER was to print more of these copies, they should call it 'Soldiers No Longer In De-mand'.

From: Dusty Date: January 20, 2003 at 11:26
I think this album has some very good hard rock songs (Soldiers under command, the rock that makes me roll and surrender), but it would have been a better album if all the songs sounded like that. And songs like first love should have been left off. They haven't got very good ballads (except for Lady on against the law)

From: Steve F. Date: February 8, 2003 at 22:32
Their second best album. It works pretty much like their first album, but the one disappointment for me is 'Battle Hymn' - a little hokey and sentimental.

From: ALEJANDRO Date: March 21, 2003 at 15:39

From: Marcos Date: March 31, 2003 at 1:50
Stryper is the most expression of the Chistian Rock that still survivor to the time. I love all tracks, but 'First Love' is beautiful. I love Stryper!!!!!!!!!!!! Marcos Assis - Brazil marcosassis@cesan.com.br

Stryper is TOURING 2003. Check the official website for details.

From: Andrew Date: August 24, 2003 at 20:45
This is my favorite stryper album (To Hell with the devil is second). Soldiers and Surrender stick out as amazing songs. The mix is good, the guitars are good, and ending things with the battle hymn of the republic is very cool.

From: Edward Date: September 25, 2003 at 11:02
This is better than their first album, in my opinion. When I hear about christian music (and to be honest, I'm not a religious person) I always say 'that is shit!'. But this album had sometthing I like. The combination of christian music with hard rocking melodic metal. And I love every 80's metal...

From: javi Date: October 3, 2003 at 0:38

From: fasteddie Date: November 12, 2003 at 15:51
Always liked Stryper & what they were doing, but the thin sound of the guitars was hard to overlook. With that said, I saw them last night on their '03 reunion tour in Atlanta & what I always thought was probably studio tricks with the fast harmony leads (ala a harmonizer) was done precisely by Michael & Oz.Love 'em or hate 'em, these guys are MASTERS OF THEIR CRAFT!I'm a guitarist & I was THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED.BTW:live, the guitars are anything BUT thin! Lord bless them!! This was their best cd.

From: Dusty Date: November 15, 2003 at 19:01
Lucky bastard!! Why don't they come to Europe, i'm sure there are enough fans who'd love to see 'em here. But i do get to see Robert Sweet and his band Blissed in two weeks, so at least i have something...

From: Jay Date: November 16, 2003 at 4:30
I'm a Christian, and I am glad to see others who probably don't call themselves Christians or Jesus freaks liking this album. I have this on LP, just got an LP player for $15, and played it for the first time since it was put away in my attic by my dad years ago. I love it! Can't wait to see 'em on Nov 19. I'll have pictures and a review at www.petrafied.net! Peace!

this is one of the best metal cds of all time.stryper are four christians who just happen to be blessed with musical talent.saw them live a couple of times and they totally blew me away.they are one of the reasons i try to live my life for christ.reach out and first love are the best songs on this to me.go out and get this cd and be ready to be floored by their talent-777

From: sparkyass Date: January 25, 2004 at 3:11
this is an all time metal classic!!!!!without a doubt their best album. don,t overlook it because of the religious thing, it flat out rocks!!!!!

From: Dean Date: January 25, 2004 at 14:53
This whole album is awesome except for 'together as one' Everything else is killer. Oz Fox was killer in the studio but every time i saw them live he just was not up to the task. In the studio the harmonies that him and M.Sweet did were just plain awesome.

From: Tocallo Date: March 17, 2004 at 17:12
Waiting for a Love That's Real UNA OBRA DE ARTE !!!!

Actually, stryper's music is quite holy by nature, not satanic like kiss, black sabbath or manowar's music!

From: Firechicken Date: June 29, 2004 at 8:45
Striper come to my cuntry and play many shows and I can for sure to tell you they ar not holy. there singer Mikhail Sweet was arrested for peing on steps of party headquaters, and other members of band enjoy company of prostetutes. They even tell auidnece thinking we understand only Russian that they are agents of Satin on earth. They are bad men frend jack, do not be fooled by theer fake religon.

From: Dean Date: June 29, 2004 at 13:13
Jack -'Actually,stryper's music is quite holy by nature, not satanic like kiss, black sabbath or manowar's music! -' Dude-your ignorance shines with that comment. Go read the lyrics to Sabbath's 'After Forever' and tell me how 'Satanic' they are- Kiss can be considered sinful as in pleasures of the flesh but Satanic? Next thing you'll tell me is KISS stands for 'Knights in Satan''s service.' It's all image-how can you not understand? Same with Manowar who pretty much believe that they're HE-Man

From: Dean Date: June 29, 2004 at 13:17
BTW- I'm waiting for your next post that claims Stryper is horrible since you have contradicting posts on almost every other popular album here.

From: jack Date: July 22, 2004 at 5:58
Listen to manowar lyrics-its all about killing and fighting while kiss's lyrics is sometimes about hell breakin loose or fell to the earth or whatever. But don't get me wrong,i like thier music a lot. But black sabbath-i never like them the moment i heard thier music. They are one of the few hard rock/metal band that i dislike.

From: Dean Date: July 22, 2004 at 10:26
Jack-have you ever heard of or played D & D ? How about watched a horror movie? It's the same thing-they are STORIES! It doesn't make them or the authors satanic. As for Sabbath-that is fine you don't like them but without knowledge of where they come from lyrically how can you call them Satanic? At worst they are called secular bands-meaning not based on any religion-be it Christian or pagan.

From: Geoff Date: September 20, 2004 at 0:28
F*cking hell! If you want to get an album for a single song, check out 'Waiting for a love that's real' - what a killer melodic rocker. I always hated Stryper lyrically and it doesn't change here, but it's just a beautiful track. The opening track has a killer riff and I like them musically - just a listen to the lyrics and the ballads is too painful though. Musically killer though.

From: phaffas Date: October 13, 2004 at 8:38
this is a brillant album. "soldiers under command" is one of my all time favourite rock songs. people seem to complain about the ballads on this album, but for me they are also brilliant. "first love" is an awesome song, and the most powerful song ive ever heard.

well to me.they are the best band ever.forget about their lyrics.cos its the music that matters.there ain't many singers that can kick it out like michael.so if you don't like their playing.thats fine.but don't blame the message.jessica96fish

this is my fav Stryper, mainly cause the ballads are just amazing, First Love and Together get me!!! rockers as well, Soldiers, Together, Reach, there are a few hookey things on this one but I like them anyway, not as strong overall as the debut, a definate killer album also, but considered an ep I guess and not a whole album? by the way, anyone hear Guardian's version of the Yellow and Black??? just wondering,,,, Looking forward to the new album next month, samples sound really good with an upd

Hey people all albums from STRYPER is magical try all very very good 10/10 all albums.Very heart very pomp.I LOVE YOU STRYPER.And new album REBORN very BAD.Bad sound not like old alb.(very bombastic Sound)this bad sound.

From: jake de snake Date: July 12, 2006 at 14:55
stryper freakin' rules!!!!!!!!!!! i.g.w.t. was a bit of a let down and the new one 'reborn' i was disappointed too, but soldiers is AWESOME! 'surrender', 'soldiers under command', 'the rock that makes me roll' and a 'love that's real' are all killer. first love is great, but the other ballad is boring (except the solo) and when i first heard the cd, i though they had a female guest vocalist on the song on the intro. anyway, buy this cd, stryper can hang with ANY of the other hair bands!!!!!

From: Figge Date: September 27, 2006 at 13:50
Probably the best Stryper album. It is my personal favourite anyway, no doubt. I remember the day I came home with this vinyl so very clear. I was totally floored by the opening riffs of the title track. What a song! The problem, as already mentioned here, with Stryper was the inconsistency of the albums. The title track, Surrender and A Love That's Real are MONSTER songs. I rate these songs as some of the best melodic metal/hard rock songs I've heard...ever!

From: Nix Date: November 11, 2006 at 6:20
There are 3 masterpiece songs here: 'Reach Out' - One of my top favorite Stryper songs, 'The Rock That Makes Me Roll' - Just a Hard Rock/Metal masterpiece and 'First Love' - Possibly Stryper's best ballad ever. Three great songs! The other songs are good, but I'm not too keen on the last song. Overall quite a great album.

From: Zze Date: November 1, 2007 at 14:30
First full lenght I listened from Stryper, months after becomeing a Christian "for the first time"( I kept getting backslid over the years, but thats not the place to talk about it ). This Cd was actually a hughe deception on the first listen, altought it grew on me. the songs here are too "happy" for my taste coming to the absurd of having EXTREMELY CHEESY 50s influcneces on "Togheter Forever" having this said, I learned to like this album quite a bit, altought for me my faves are still "To Hel

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: November 3, 2007 at 3:42
GREAT CD 96/100 GREAT MELODIC METAL with CHRISTIAN message ! the song "soldier under command"it's a true METAL anthem and the rest is as good beside some cheesy stuff here and there but take the band as it was or leave it great B.Vocals and huge guitar solos and harmonies ! one of the great live band of the time with a true R'n'roll circus SHOW !/ 777 FOREVER

Larga vida a SRTYPER.

From: Axe Slinger Date: August 29, 2009 at 19:56
The highlights have been mentioned by most above and I agree. "The Rock That Make Me Roll" is just an incredible metal song. Go to YouTube and check out the recent concerts where they play this song. You can tell they, and their fans, just absolutely love playing/hearing this song live. This album will forever be on my IPod. Classic. 97/100

excellent release by STRYPER powerful, polished and commercial !this one opened the doors of the mainstream as it became gold in the States with songs like 'first love",'surrender","(waiting for) a love that s real" !Michael Wagener did a great job in production and the band seems more comfortable than its debut!essential of course!
