A great rock release thats right there with Hardline,Steelheart,DangerDanger & Lynch Mob. Hard rockin' and melodic from a band that trys hard and that big shot music label like to throw away for bands that have not even half of the talent.

Very good album.If you like Heaven's Edge,Wild Side and Warrant don't miss this one. The songwriting is strong and the singer real good. If they came out three years before they could conquer the America's chart. This one is comparable to the first Skid Row or the second Winger. Where are they now?

This CD rocks. They invented absolutely nothing and sometimes the licks aand riffs sounds like Eddie Van Halen's best guitar playing. The songs are catchy and it is flat-out rock and roll. It is actually too bad these guys never had the chance to release a seond album. The cover is excellent and so is the CD. I strongly suggest that you buy it if you find it. You might find it with another art cover. It is because the first cover's been banned...'cuz it was too hot to handle...or so they say!!

C'mon man this album is just great stupid fun. I admire these guys for not even trying to hide the Van Halen influences. If released 4 years earlier these guys would be in mansions right now. The question I have is how can a guitarist as great as this guy was just fall off the edge of the earth?? Any musician this gifted shouldn't be selling insurance or whatever he might be doing now.

These guys are pretty good. They impressed me with the great drums and guitars. The vocals were solid, and I would definatly try and get this on CD. Oh Yeah awesome album cover, it rocks.

L.J.Cuando hago una critica tengo el disco mas que escuchado,me reafirmo en lo escrito arriba NO ME GUSTA,que no quiere decir que sea malo,cuando un disco lo considero malo lo pongo y punto,me da igual que me venga cualquiera y diga lo contrario,si os gusta disfrutarlo.Simplemente yo no le encuentro nada,me suenan a temas de relleno de Heavens Edge,Skid Row,Sven Gali,Firehouse,etc.pero por lo menos estos grupos tienen temas buenos que Roxi Blue no tienen.

I find this one similar to Hair of the Dog's RISE album, not in sound, but in that for me, the first four tracks are rather boring, and the disc doesn't really hit its stride until #5, in this case, the single 'Rob the Cradle.' And damn! Picture L.A. GUns with an accentless Phil Lewis (or perhaps more polished Brian Jack) and the mutant hellspawn of Tracii Guns and Eddie Van Halen wielding the axe. I can only imagine the contortions this guy must've been going through while he played, holy shit!

I just heard about this band last week. I was looking for Trixter stuff on ebay and this popped up with it. People say RB sounds a bit like Trixter. If they do, they've got to be amazing. I want to get real bad. I like the cover with the band on it though..not uncle sam. Has anyone ever heard of Trixter or Britny Fox?

Oh hell no, Louis, I don't really hear much similarity between Roxy Blue and Trixter. Roxy Blue's singer had a much deeper voice, a la Phil Lewis (L.A. GUns) without the British accent. THe guitarist is also MUCH flashier (and better) than Steve Brown of Trixter. All in all, Roxy BLue is a good deal harder-edged than Trixter, although they both had rather the same half-fun, half-cheesy lyrics and attitude.

Hey Louis...Yes, I am familiar with Trixter and Britny Fox. Both good bands. Britny Fox is back on tour with the line up from the Bite Down Hard album...Tommy Paris (their 2nd vocalist)is singing. They recently toured with Doro Pesch (the female vocalist from the 80s German Heavy Metal Band WARLOCK). Johnny Dee the drummer for Britny Fox is also the drummer for Doro. He has been with her band since 1993 (shortly after Britny Fox disbanded).

just read Todd Poole interview at 'metalsludge.com'. He ended up being the drummer (!) for Saliva (!). Scotty T. (Todd Scott) ended up in the band 'Dust for Life'. crazy stuff!

Hey Louis. Yes I am familiar with most of the hair band era. I would love to go back to the 80s and live it all over again now. If only I could grow my hair back out again...lol As for the comment made above by Connaiseur, Roxy Blue is definately worth every penny. It's bands like Korn, Slipknot, etc that killed good, melodic rock n roll. THEY are a waste of time and money. Since RB is out of print people who want it should do what I did, find a download source and burn the songs onto cd.

I have to say...I disagree with everyone whom says that Roxy Blue is an early Van Halen clone...the only point on the cd that sounds like VH is the guitar solo right before the song 'Rob the Cradle.' THAT'S IT! Trixter and BF are better...but not dominating. I think Sid Fletcher is a tiny bit better than Eddie VH. Or atleast equal. To all planning to buy this album....don't buy it just becasue you think it might sound like VH. It's got it's on individual flair...buy it because it's Roxy Blue

I saw these guys in their prime and I thought it was the 2nd coming of Van Halen. I have a live show of theirs from Hollywood where Nikki and Tommy were in attendance and apparently wanted them to tour with them. They were the kings of Memphis music in 90-92. I saw them at the Daisy, Rascal's, and Stage Stop. Great music and great showmanship, but grunge stopped them before they could take over the world. I won this on Z-ROCK years ago and still listen to it. Produced by Mike Clink who produced GnR. Yea, it's "party rock" but it's above avg. Sid is a really good player. This record rocks, not a waste of time or $, it's well worth the standard used cd price of 8-9 bucks.

This album reminds me a lot of Warrant's "Cherry Pie" album. That is no surprise as Jani Lane is involved with this album. The Who cover is poor, but the rest of the album is fairly consistent. Not a band with an original thought, but an album worth a listen. 7/10

The only reason you say school sucks is probably because you dropped out...only because you thought drugs was a better alternative...but whatever..atleast Sid Fletcher has truly made something of himself...if the music biz would not allow Roxy Blue to go on...atleast Sid decided NOT to become some washed up has-been. Van Halen??? Warrant??? Don't hear that at all from here. "Nobody Knows" could be being sung by Jeff Keith's little brother..lol...to me, it has a serious Tesla feel. "Times Are Changing" is what sold me on this one...love that song. "Rob The Cradle"...ok, maybe early VH....but ehhhh...just an OK song...."Squeeze Box" is the only song on here that I skip over....didn't like it when The Who did it....didn't like it when Poison did it...and still don't like it..lol...

I've always had a soft spot for these guys. The three ballads 'Times are changin', 'Nobody knows' and 'Luv on me' are all great tracks. The rest is good, hard rock. I'd have loved a few more melodic styled gems, but they're a good band, well played rock n'roll. I really do quite like this CD. The pre-chorus is the very suspicious 'Rob the cradle' is awesome too.

Saw Roxy Blue in a tiny "club" in Pittsburgh back in the day...awesome show. Funny thing was, it was in a strip mall next to a pharmacy!!! Anyway, Squeeze Box is great, and I HATE The Who! I agree that it is a shame that they were a day late and a dollar short. Grunge ruined the whole thing! 80s rock. If I only had a time machine! Oh yeah, the VH comparison is totally unfair. Roxy Blue's "WANT SOME?" stands alone on its own merit.

I agree with Dean than no band was hit as hard by grunge as Roxy Blue. They were poised to break and had it all wiped away with one tattered green sweater and head of unwashed hair. I disagree with his assertion that VH comparisons are unfair. In fact no band borrowed as much from VH since BulletBoys. Right down to the Eruption-like solo. Don't get me wrong, I think Roxy Blue played energetic pop-glam better than most. I thought the production was poor, but great songs!!

Hated it when it was released.There are times on this disc that are down right plageristic it's a wonder VH didn't sue.But I gotta say it is a Fun ride and they are a Great Band. I love it now even though I can count the Eddie licks and I have (15 are out right thefts). But hey It is So fun that it doesn't matter anymore.8/10

Stunning album. The guitar playing is awesome, the singing etc. Well its just the the whole band, the pure energy you feel coming thru this disk. If ever a band deserved cliches as "what if the grunge" and "wrong place wrong time"then its this band. They totally deserved to be very big. But life aint always fair. But man what a talented band. And i do agree that they shouldnot be compared to anyone. They do stand alone in their own merit. 9/10 . Essential !

Essential is the key word. I was not too impressed with this when it was first released as the vocals threw me a bit. I initially was intrigued with the guitar playing on this one but the vocals really seemed to hold it back. But twelve or so years later, this one does indeed stand up. Pick it up. If you call yourself a rocker, this one must be in your collection. Try to get the Uncle Sam cover too as its way cooler than the other lame cover. Nonetheless, its the music that matters.....

12 years! you have to be joking.... is it really that old. it still sounds great. Excellent songs one of the best hairband releases. Wow how times just evaporates... Great album 8/10 on my very strict charts.

Roxy Blue gets a 10/10 in my charts. Wow what a band....I disagree....the other cover (not uncle sam) is cool too! I have a poster of them in my room. I think I'm the youngest Roxy Blue fan around....19...found out about them at 17. My favorite song by Roxy is "Luv on me" and it is one my favorite songs of any. Best thing for all music lovers to do is...go out and buy this one, it's inexpensive and you'll be glad you did when your ears absorb the music. A breath of fresh air...it really is!

GREAT CD FOR HAIR METAL'S FINAL DAYS. UNFORTUNATELY, BANDS LIKE THIS WOULD SUCCUMB TO BANDS LIKE KURT NO BRAIN AND NIRVANA, EDDIE DON'T GET NO BETTER VEDDER FROM PEARL SLAM, ALICE IN CHAINS AND SOUNDGARDEN TO NAME A FEW. IF YOU CAN FIND THIS CD, PICK IT UP, IT'S A DEFINITE MUST FOR HAIR METAL FANS. I REMEMBER HEARING "ROB THE CRADLE" ON THE RADIO BACK IN THE SUMMER OF 1992. I can't believe there are as many comments as there are about this one. I didn't think it was that big of a release when it came out. It's comparable to Warrant, Syre, Firehouse or any of the other bands from that genre. It's pretty good party rock. I have the Japanese version with alternate cover artwork.

No está mal el disco, excelente producción, buen cantante, la música está como para pasar un buen rato de HardRock ´n Roll, los solos no están nada mal pero igual lejos de ser un clásico o algo parecido. Temas a lo Tesla, Skid Row, Warrant, Poison etc.. Tengo el disco original y no aparecen las letras pero Jimi Jamison, Tommy Funderburk y Jani lane al parecer le ayudaron en ellas pues están en los agradecimientos, haber si alguien sabe mas de esto, saludos. 8/10

Simply a masterpiece,perfection is here IMO.One of the greatest hair metal/hard rock bands ever.Stunning and perfect production and sounds,perfect singer,great rhythim and lead guitar(solos are awesome,too)around a solid and marvellous bass and drums.Killer cd,I think every band must be inspired to these guys if you play this genre....10/10!Over the top!!!!

Una pieza que no debe faltar en tu colección, está todo perfectamente encajado en su sitio, lo compré cuando salió allá en el 92, y claramente, está entre mis favoritos. Además de este, salió un directo también. Mis temas preferidos "Rob the cradle" / "squeeze box" / "luv on me" y por supuesto el pedazo de balada "times are changin' " IMPRESCINDIBLE.

The second half of this thing is some pretty good, if formulaic, L.A. Guns/Van Halen-style party metal, with some crazy guitar playing. The first half is pretty much the same, only more boring. "Rob The Cradle" is the only standout for me on the first half.

The guitar part in the beginning of Rob the cradle sounds much like the intro from cumin' atcha live by Tesla and the beginning of Main Attraction sounds like Rocket Queen by Guns n Roses. And all these bands are Geffen's boys so it's no surprising there. And to BIG-TIME, I don't really get you. Tesla is not good for you and Roxy Blue is not good for you either. But how can you like Modern Day Cowboy by Tesla and dislike the rest you are strange sir.

To Zonar I like a good tune not just because it has guitars in it! Modern Day Cowboy is a good track but thats it... Roxy Blue for me just don't cut it not one song! they just don't click. Say Stay by Giant great tune but say a band like Queen some albums I like some I don't you can't like them all because it's Queen... like said I like a good tune it's just taste varies...

I was listening to this one over teh weekend. Didn't realize these guys were from Memphis, as you'd never guess it to listen to their music. They sound totally L.A., where Tora Tora (also from Memphis) wallowed in southern-ness and blues. The singer constantly apes Sebastian Bach with the screams, but sounds more like an American Phil Lewis.

Got this album in Cassette when it first release, and become one of my favourite. Too bad they only had one album then disbanded. Really hope they could get back together and create another great album for the fans. I give it 9.8/10. Grab one if you can.

Excellent 80s style hard rock. The best way to describe it is to imagine a mixture of Trixter and Van Halen. Great melodies, riffs, solos and vocals are abundant on this album so I recommend it.

I wrote a little comment way back in 2005 asking...where are they now???...the answer is...disbanded!!!..obviously...and what a shame honestly...this act lived under the shadow of some other great bands(far better in composition i suppose) but they also deserved to be with the BIG names of Hard Rock...the year also didn't help at all (1992),you know what happened next ..."Too Hot To Handle" & "Main Attraction"(first and last song) are my fave ones but also there are great numbers such as "Times Are Changin'" which is a nice ballad,"It's So Easy","Squeeze Box","Talk Of The Town",this one played live is a monster of a song! & "Love's Got a Hold On Me"...only one record ...well s**t happens...94/100

The guitar player smokes his axe as if his life depended on it, and while the overall sound is sort of Van Halen-meets-Tesla, it's all filtered through the trappings of early 90s hair-metal, because while the band may have hailed from Memphis, their style was pure L.A. The band suffers from a want of a few more killer tracks--this release is peppered with too much filler--but that's why God invented the "Skip" button. When it comes to Roxy Blue, the answer to "Want Some?" is an unequivocal "Yes."

WOW!!! I've been compiling hundreds, probably over a 1000 metal albums from back in the glory days of Hair Metal that I never got to experience during the time period, due to poor exposure/advertising on their part and limited resources on my part...lol...that said this metal masterpiece....that's right METAL MASTERPIECE!!!! now belongs right up there with my faves of the genre...If you love Winger/Warrant/Bon Jovi/Slaughter/Poison/et al. then you will most likely love this one too...It definitely would make my top 50 Hair Metal albums of all time...and maybe top 20...WOW!!!

FNA Records is planning to release three new albums bfrom Roxy Blue later in the yea, one of them a live disc. Raiding the vaults, which is what FNA does. I had to laugh, reading the press release, . All about hwo Roxy Blue were "the Next Big Thing, but nobody could have imagined the grunge phenomenon ..." Sheeee-IT! Look, I love hair-metal, and I like this disc, but let's not kid ourselves. These guys brought NOTHING original or groundbreaking, and weren't going to be the next big anything.

Good album. I didn't know about Roxy Blue. When I heard their first song 'times are changing' which was in a rock ballad collections CD, I thought Jon Bon Jovi was the main singer of this band. Maximum similarity have between Roxy Blue and Bon Jovi.

... great up-and-coming band from the Northwest—Nirvana! Hey, I turned twelve that summer; if it had loud guitars, I was in! It never occurred to me to listen and compare what Roxy Blue and Nirvana were "saying" with their music, because in my experience (which was about 90 percent hair-metal at that time), nobody said anything with their music as far as I knew, except White Lion—and that was A-okay with me! I'm not sure when it really dawned on me that times really were a-changin'. I do remember one Sunday evening about a year later, hearing Winger's "Seventeen" back-to-back with Firehouse's "Reach For The Sky" on the radio, and thinking, "Wow, I haven't heard either of those in a while!"

Quite late to the party. Just read an interview in which Todd Poole says he auditioned for Warrant after Jani left and the tracks ended up on a Japanese release. Anybody have info on this?
