As a vocalist, Joe's one hell of a guitarist.

Starts off well with 'Shakin' My Tree' 'Hold On Me' & 'Pray For Me' but goes downhill pretty rapidly afterwards, although I do like the covers of 'Crystal Ship' & 'Vigilante Man'. No faulting Perry's guitarwork or the sound of the record, although the vocals are hidden a bit in the mix (which in fact is quite a good thing as Perry ain't no singer), the problem lies mostly with the quality of the songs i.e they ain't very good. Dissapointed in a word as I was expecting a whole lot more than this.

I can see what Jez means as I don't think this will be everyone's cup of tea. But for me I absolutely love it, the sound harks back somewhat to classic Aerosmith not the overproduced stuff they bring out these days. I think Lonely is my favourite track because the sound of the guitar "grunts" makes me grin from ear to ear .. it sounds so much like Joe's old work. Yep Joe ain't no singer but I've heard worse(please take a bow Uli Jon Roth) haha.

Anyway for me .. it's a return to the old Aerosmith sound .. a sound they would do well to return to as a band.

Good rockin' stuff but... Joe's voice (or lack thereof) is just too much for me to get by. I wish Aerosmith would return to this roots-rock style, but Joe alone just isn't doing it for me. I really wanted to like it too but it's just not what I'm into.

There's nothing wrong with Joe's voice, sounds pretty much just like Nasty Suicide of Hanoi Rocks, who always sounded great on his own albums. Anyone who's a fan of Nasty's material (or voice) should enjoy this; taking some of the punch of Done With Mirrors-era Aerosmith with the mature hard-rock of Nasty's Vinegar Blood album and you pretty much get this. I like my rock raw, dirty and sloppy; something that Aerosmith hasn't been in years. This is a small step in the right direction. 7/10

Musically O.K. (not great at all), but hell, Joe can't sing at all ! In fact : kind of a disappointment. Joe is a great guitarist IMO, but a very bad vocalist !

Another disappointing release from the makers of the rock'n'roll band formerly known as Aerosmith... they're now a pop band using the Aerosmith moniker to cash in. Nothing about this CD worked for me, especially the fact that the DualDisc aspect made my car stereo reject it immediately.

People complain about Joe's voice...indeed he's an unskilled one but let's say that is rather average than bad...about the songs of the albums...ummmm...not really good ones if you compare either some other solo stuff or what he's been doing with Aerosmith...probably some shots are these ones: "Shakin' My Cage","Can't Compare"(liked it),"(The Doors Covers)Crystal Ship"(good smooth),"Push Comes To Shove" & the instrumental "Mercy"...do not rush to buy this release honestly...65/100
