Back in the day I had this tape and played it till it didn't play no more. I used to listen to it every saturday night on 'Living Water' which was hosted by Bill Scott of ZJam. If anyone has ANY idea as to where I can obtain this album/cassette, PLEASE eamil me at liefguld@hotmail.com

CLASSIC! I took a gamble on this after reading a favorable review on "ultmetal.themadpoet.net/cdlist.html". Un(freaking)believable! This is straightforward, bread-and-butter Arena Rock a la Def Leppard and Van Halen. But, it's not a Christian clone of them. The lyrics are pretty good as well as the guitars ... oh, & did I mention hooks? "Who Pulls the Strings" & "Sold You a Lie" have me bobbing my head every time. A couple of the songs are ah-ight; but, that's to be expected. Get this if you can

The guy's address now is "www.nolifetilmetal.com". An unknown classic of AOR music with touches of metal. I'm still surprised this One Hit Wonder gets no props from so-called Christian rock fans?

"Who Pulls The Strings" is in my top 25 songs of all time! This sucker rocks big time! Throw in other greats like "Sold You A Lie", "Is It A Crime", "Kick In The Gates" and you've easily got a 4-star+ cd! I actually did the same thing Duardo did back in the day! Played my cassette til' she plum wore out! It really is that good! Like an amalgum of the 1st Holy Soldier/Styper but unforgetably melodic!

Good to see others still remember this little-known gem. The cheapo production job does Zion no favors (sounds like it was recorded on a boom box) but the songs are good ol'fashioned 80s pop/hard rock. Rex Scott would move on to heavier pastures after this one and only Zion album and joined X-Sinner, another one of my favorite Christian rock bands. I especially like "Roll The Rock" and "Is It A Crime." One for the Dokken/Van Halen fans.

I first picked up a cassette copy of a Zion demo back in '84, it has a version of 'He Loves You' that rocks! I saw these guys at a metal fest in IL back in '90, pretty good live, they hung out with the crowd before their set. This is a great album considering the low budget of Image Records (it was a cassette/lp only release for over a year before it was released on CD, that's how low budget the company was). Sound is old Def Lep-AC/DC meets Foreigner.

GOOD HARD ROCK ALBUM. 7 D 10.

Awesome melodic metal. 'Who Pulls The Strings' is an infectious rocker as is 'Is It A Crime'. I love this CD. Clean vocals and the production is top-rate. Crunching guitars and excellent drum sound make this an explosive affair. Great stuff.

I got this cassette a long time ago and still love it! BTW, is the lead singer Rex Scott the same one who sings on the 2nd X-Sinner album?

From: IMPALER Date: April 17, 2005 at 1:18
Yes, Rex Scott left Zion to join X-Sinner when X-Sinner asked him to join because he got fed up with Image Records and felt he would have a better opportunity with X-Sinner, unfortunately that spelled the end of Zion though the remaining members tried to keep it going but were unable to replace Rex on vocals.

Solid CCM release. I've had this one for ages now. It was one of the bst releases of its time. Great 80's sound and worth picking up for sure, a must have all CCM collectors. 85/100

Quite an interesting one but the average production killed the good intentions,shamely...Heavy Metal/Hard Rock with a little dosage of an AORish flavour here and there is what the band displayed...tracks 2,3(my fave),6,7 & 9 are fine songs...the act reminded me somehow of early Fastway...75/100

From: metalmaniac777 Date: August 14, 2017 at 10:28
This relatively obscure Christian hard rock release isn't exactly the pinnacle of perfection, but fans of gritty vocals and crunchy guitars should find enough meat here to sink their teeth--or should that be ears?--into. The production definitely could have used a boost of "thunder" but you've heard worse, especially if you were a white-metal collector back in the 80s. The songs range from good ("Is it a Crime") to just so-so ("Sold You a Lie") without ever rising above or sinking below. Singer Rex Scott would go on to bigger and better things with X-Sinner, but this album still merits a place in your collection. No reason to move mountains to obtain a copy, but worth grabbing somewhere along the way.

I have one major regret with this album and that is that I traded it in before the prices went up. Ok, it isnt a bad album (who pulls the strings is a great song and is still in my MP3 playlist), but it never excited me. Back in the day I used to trade in albums that didn't excite me so actually got rid of some CDs which are now highly collectable, which is a shame, but these days I tend to keep everything regardless. This one was certainly a product of its day, being an 80s metal band on a budget. Nothing insanely original on it for sure, but was ok. There were much better rock bands out there, and much better Christian bands too. Overall I would probably add it to my collection again if it was cheap, but at the prices it commands now, it can stay away.
