If you notice that a particular Black Stone Cherry CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. I've been waiting for Black Stone Cherry to blow up and give us a consistently good album since the debut, and they finally do it on Magic Mountain. I like this disc a LOT! It's still southern rock viltered through a thick layer of Alice In Chains and Black Label Society, but for the first time, nearly every song is catchy and memorable, even the slower ones. Despite the grunginess of the sound, the songs are able to retain a sense of fun and hope that the lyrics, the live show, and the band themselves, embody. The one stinker is "Hollywood In Kentucky," BSC's version of the insipid "country checklist" song polluting the Nashville machine. Among other things, the boys tell us that incest is preferable to homosexuality, and tell the flat-broke to get a job ... but even then, the song is damn catchy!
