From: Aesloth Date: June 17, 2001 at 14:22
Huaaaaaaa! The singer is simply......... amazing. Lately, i think Pell were too much boring, then i listen "masquarade ball".... and i recover my faith. The best of Pell

From: Lloyd Date: July 6, 2001 at 10:35
one of his best albums... tremedous singer... masquerade ball is the best!!

From: WhiteLion Date: September 20, 2001 at 10:05
The only one with Pell that I own. Intend to buy the rest

From: Roxas Date: April 13, 2002 at 1:23
real heavy melodic rock, great riff and some amazing ballads. Johnny Gioeli is number one. What a follow up after losing Jeff Scott Soto

From: oldyett Date: June 26, 2002 at 23:07
every year he puts out the same album with the minute and a half spooky/moody intro filler before kicking in, nothing ever changes except the singers every 3-4 releases, but fortunatly it's a good album, much like ac/dc never does anything different---great stuff, i have the entire catalog, same old same old like pizza and sex---even when it's cold it's good----or something

AXEL RUDI PELL is a great guitarist, JOHNNY is a great vocalist, keep up the good work guys. AXEL RUDI PELL RULES!

The best Axel album. One of my favorite rock albums.

From: robert Date: October 20, 2002 at 10:17

From: Alex Gaskill Date: April 2, 2003 at 19:12
Much more of a soloist than a rythm guitarrist. He just throws chords, no rich rythms. Sustains and waits for the solo, technically rich, but not innovative. Song structures way too repetitive. Somawhat cheap keyboard chords. Gioeli is good, maybe pushing himself too high, like in 'Masquerade Ball'. In general, songwriting appears poor to me. Lame, I repeat, LAME drums, both production and playing. He should play the lead guitar for someone who can write consistent songs into consistent albums.

Masterpiece!

From: mj Date: December 18, 2003 at 14:31
Wonderful album probably his finest hour.

From: Rycheage Date: January 11, 2004 at 22:27
Excellent metal CD. Johnny Gioeli has outdone himself on vocals. "Night And Rain" is simply awesome. "The Masquerade Ball" just boggles the mind. Pell has outdone and outclassed himself on this. 9.5/10.

From: MADMAX Date: April 1, 2004 at 17:43
Great album again from Axel!! Night And Rain, Earls Of Black, Voodoo Nights and Tear Down The Walls are fantastic! Others are good too, no weak songs IMO.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 27, 2004 at 22:13
Though Pell is considered by some to be a Malmsteen rip off, he is in fact a better songwriter as this album proves. While I would enjoy more songs in the vein of "Voodoo Nights" and "Tear Down The Walls", the epic tracks are still interesting. 7/10

From: Herman Date: July 22, 2004 at 18:07
I own all albums by Axel. I find this one best. Johny is almost the best vocalist in the world (No. 1 still Bruce Dickinson). Anyway, great album. Worth hearing. I wait for concerts in Poland.

From: Dave Date: September 18, 2004 at 0:37
Was just given this and Oceans Of Time to listen to and i'm impressed.Tracks 3,4,5,7 & 10 are the standouts on this album.I had not heard anything from Axel Rudi Pell prior to this and i can tell you that is gonna' change. This is shit hot stuff and the Hardline frontman Johnny Gioeli shows why he is one of the best hard rock vocalists going around.

From: Geoff Date: September 23, 2004 at 19:13
Again, a more consistent sound and it's nice to be able to listen to almost the entire album without reaching for the skip button. Good solid stuff.

From: AHUEA Date: September 30, 2004 at 0:59
Not as good as Oceans of time, has some lame and slow tracks, the best ones are Voodoo Nights just listen to the scream at the end of the track and Masquerade Ball, Johnny proves it again, the best singer around

From: Rick Thunder Date: October 3, 2004 at 2:32
VOODOO NIGHTS AND HOT WHEELS: AMAZING TRACKS!!!!!!!!!!

From: MadMax Date: May 20, 2005 at 22:55
YEAH!! Johnny sings his heart out! Superb tracks by Axel, ballads are great too on this release! Best ARP with Nasty!

From: elljam Date: February 11, 2012 at 5:03
This must go down as his strongest album. All nine tracks (I'm ignoring the intro) are high quality & because of this it's hard to pick favourites. However the slower tracks, "Night & Rain", "The Line", "The Temple Of The Holy" & especially "The Masquerade Ball" just steal the show. Johnny Geoeli gives his usual outstanding performance. I see Axel Rudi Pell is listed as a "guitar wizard" on this site, but not many of this type can write killer songs like he does.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 24, 2012 at 20:41
Killer album with outstanding songs!!!...Axel's being a guitar wizard as usual and the man on the mic JG giving his lungs out!!!...the best cuts for me are "Voodoo Nights" & "Tear Down The Walls" but there are also some other great moments such as "Earls Of Black","Night And Rain"(solid rocking soft song),"The Masquerade Ball"(epic!)& "Hot Wheels"...recommended...94/100
