What can one say. This was an awesome debut that should have done better. Nevertheless they persevered and the rest is history. I still like the debut the most.

After this they didn`t suck, but Dawnpatrol is their strongest album. After this came 2 or 3 more good albums, but it's true nowadays they suck!

One of the few bands that got it right on their first try. Shopping at Hooks 'R' Us and coming away with a full cart, this is AOR of the highest order. "Don't Tell Me You Know Me", "Sing Me Away", "Young Girl In Love" and "Can't Find Me A Thrill" are the showcase tracks, IMO.

Their first and their best ! A beasst of a CD ! Not to be missed. This is indeed a wonderful mix of AOR and pompy hardrock. And done with class !! A masterpiece ! The best from them and a MUST BUY !!!!!

Great great album from a band that was ahead of thier time. This came out in 82 but you wouldn't know by the sound. Sounds like about 87'. They really helped set up the run that the AOR Hard Rockers had in the late 80's.

After this album its down towards mediocracy. This is by far the best Night Ranger. Don't tell me you love me kick's butt. Too bad they decided to move into day patrol and waste talent.

Don't Tell Me You Love Me -> Kickass Rock Classic. Fast Rock which Grade A in songwriting, delivery and production is SO rare. Usually you can have Melodic or Rock, but not both. But Night Ranger an AOR band so all the other tracks will be the same, or way disappointing, right..? NOOO!! Every track is distinct, different. Lots of variation, and nothing there you can pick apart as 'weak'. An all time classic. P.S. Why does Track 3 sound like a Cars song?

Created from the aches of Rubicon. Their debut and the their best record. The guitarwork by Gillis and Watson are still outstanding. Fantastic guitarsound. I love this record.

Killer Debut! Blazing guitars and riffs with good quality songwriting. Their heaviest release, with "Midnight Madness" following not too close behind. After that they turned into a pop band. Happens all too often! Great rockin' bands get a "hit single" and then it's all downhill from there. Look what "Sister Christian" did to THIS band! Still...lots of metal meat on this one...

Night Ranger was one of the better AOR metal/hard rock bands of the early 80's. If you like Foreigner, Journery, etc., you'll like Night Ranger.

I agree this one is their best. Every song packs a punch! Lately I find myself cranking up 'Can't Find Me a Thrill'! I stopped listening to 'em after 7 Wishes. They did seem to get progressively weaker. Hopefully Blades' other project Damn Yankees will produce another rockin' record?

An awesome debut that married melody and power perfectly. I personally like all of Nightrangers cds but this and the follow up Midnight Madness were the strongest. A true classic

Truly classic and legendary debut from Night Ranger. These guys truly define what AOR is. No weak tracks on this one. Overall, I feel this is their strongest album, but I don't agree with those that say this is the only good album.

YES!!! Not much get this ageing rocker on the dancefloor shredding his airguitar nowadays, but Nightranger do it! "Don't Tell Me.." is a Supernova - one of THE best rock songs of ALL time, but unlike *some* albums (with one great song and a lot of filler), DAWN PATROL's tracks have such excellent quality and variety that it could nearly be a Greatest Hits album in its own right!

As most have said here, this is their first and best. "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", "Sing Me Away" and "Can't Find Me A Thrill" are the best tracks. An absolute must-own. Great stuff.

Bloody amazing AOR ! But what happened to them after 'Man in Motion'?????! They were shit that's what happened! This is one of my all time favs though - stand out tracks are the excellent ballad 'Sing me Away' and the rockier 'Play Rough and 'Penny'. Essential

Brilliant debut album by the Rangers!!! ...3 classics of the band are in here("Don't Tell Me You Love Me","Sing Me Away" & "Night Ranger")apart from that another great tracks such as "At Night She Sleeps","Eddie's Comin' Out Tonight","Can't Find Me a Thrill" & "Young Girl In Love"...a must have to every self respected AOR lover .95/100

Just look at the year of release, and you get a fair idea what Night Ranger have to offer. 1982--still a year shy of the explosion of so-called hair metal, and still with late-'70's style AOR going strong. Sure enough, Night Ranger's debut is a mix of those two genres. They have the energy and guitar firepower of commercial metal, but also the plentiful keyboards and smooth vocal harmonies of a '70's arena-rock band. Jack Blades sings with melody always, but manages not to come off like a wimp. The band doesn't emphasize sleazy attitude like the bands who came just after them, which, along with the prominent keys, led many to consider them too lightweight, but the reality is, they were as good as most early hair bands, but retained enough of a pop sheen to get them on the radio. Dawn Patrol doesn't sound like anything other than an earlly-'80's hard rock record, but it's a damn good one.

Almost all 80's releases by this great band are good albums. I don't understand the hatred towards their other albums. That being said, this is a killer debut. So much energy, and the duelling guitars are unrivalled.

Listening to this album now and even after 27 years it's still a melodic heavy rock classic! Like many said, the perfect mix of Van Hagar/Journey/Foriegner, every song could be a great single, apart for the closing cut, maybe. Killer record!

Im from Poland and I knew this band for the first time around 2010. I really prefer american hard rock music to one played in my own country. There are some exceptions but I still find English more suitable for singing. And listening. When it comes to some comments above I also find first 4 albums great but they are different. Dawn Patrol is a bit tougher and I would classify it more as hard rock than AOR. The rest except few songs is just unlistenable just because it's too new...
