A great follow-up after losing Yngwie. Steve Vai does a fabulous job here. The direction is similar, but different due to Steve's influence. Once again the focus is songs with catchy riffs. Stand out tracks are 1-4, but all are really incredible examples of musicianship.

From: Patto Date: March 31, 2002 at 0:30
(Me estoy refiriendo a Steve)

i had this record a while back. i think it could've been better, not saying that graham bonnet is not a good song writer its just that he was trying to combined metal with pop and it doesn't mix, but that doesn't mean that disturbing the peace from alcatrazz is not a jewel of its own. its a classic

From: Bobrome Date: April 24, 2002 at 1:16
This album is really a classic of the 80's! It's the only album of this group that I still listen to...Steve Vai has doing a wonderful work and the songs are so great. A must for every Rock Fm amateur.

I first heard "Wire and the Wood" in a compilation album twelve years ago, and the opening melody stuck in my head. Vai used the same lick in "Answers" from "Passion and Warfare". I got this album recently from Vai's Secret Jewel Box. I love it. All the songs are awesome, and Graham Bonnet has a golden voice. A hidden gem of an album, indeed.

This album is much better than any of my albums with Alcatrazz.

Gee Yngwie, it's really quite the opposite of what your reputation would lead me to believe for you to admit that Steve Vai's take on Alcatrazz is better than yours. I still like yours better anyway. Although I certainly admire Mr. Vai's talent, I've always thought he was too..."noodely" for lack of a better word. You always seemed to have much more feel where Steve concentrated on technical ability. Thanks for posting though Yngwie, glad to know you're still out there.

From: rossa Date: September 4, 2002 at 9:26

From: Sebastian Date: October 11, 2002 at 18:00

Nobody sings like Graham Bonnet AMAZING!!!! Check out the live stuff from this tour Vai & the band were onto something great, too bad there was not a follow up CD or at an official live release.

From: MALLORCA´S ROCK Date: December 9, 2002 at 13:43

From: ken Date: December 10, 2002 at 18:57
i meet steve vai back in 1999 and i had him sine this one this one is in my top ten.

From: Gar Date: January 17, 2003 at 21:09
Wow! This one still sounds great. Again their lyrics really stand out from the other bands of the time. Check out the anti-MTV sentiments of "God Blessed Video". This band was ahead of the times.

From: Bilboker Date: March 20, 2003 at 11:12

From: visitor Date: August 20, 2003 at 4:47
The video of "God Blessed Video" is hilarious with all its parodic elements of a typical MTV video of that time! And the song itself is great!

Vai is an excellent musician, this is a good album. Not as good (in my opinion) as anything with the maistro, though. Still, add this one to your collection.

Of the 3 (studio) Alcatrazz releases, this is the by far the strongest, although opinion may differ depending on if you're a Vai Fan (which I most certainly am) or a Malmsteen afficionado (Some good albums but not in the same league). The first album, while good, suffered from the lack of real quality in the songs, a problem that this certainly doesn't have. 'God Blessed Video', 'Will You Be Home Tonight' 'Wire & The Wood', 'Mercy' all outweighing the material on 'No Parole' and 'Dangerous Games'.

From: z4roxx Date: January 6, 2007 at 11:27
I had to hear this one for 10 times to appreciate it ahaha! This is very good cd,I think their best even if I didn t listen to”dangerous game”yet.”Wire and wood”is one of the best 80’s song IMO.Never liked G.Bonnett voice but it’s not a problem here.9/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 22, 2011 at 22:55
Very good album by Alcatrazz and one of the best ones ever recorded by Graham Bonnet(vocally talking)...Steve Vai in here taking the vacant left by Yngwie M....best shots 4 me are "God Blessed Video","Will You Be Home Tonight"(AORish),"Wire & Wood"(rocks),"Stripper"(rocks) & "Skyfire"...recommended...90/100

Agree with Jez, this was Alcatrazz at their best. To me it doesn't sound as dated as 'No Parole..". No Parole, to me, showed what great potential the band had, and then they REALLY delivered on it with this album. Well-crafted tunes that stand the test of time! Now, for a real treat, Bonnet fans need to check out ANTHEM - Heavy Metal Anthem disc. Unbelievable. You probably never heard of it. It is the album you wished Alcatrazz had made right after this one. No lie, if you haven't heard it you need to.
