I haven't buy this album yet, but have heard the single "Nine Lives" on YouTube and it sounds pretty like Adrenalize . By the way the cover is a little bit similar with The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band imo.

From: the rocker Date: May 1, 2008 at 11:51
they led you to believe this was going to be a guitar driven rock cd, and it kind of is that. BUT,this is a pop cd no doubt about it. i would compare this kind of "ROCK" to that of four letter word off of the x cd. that is a good thing ,but thats as much rock as you are going to get. i still like it,but not what i was hoping for. nine lives, tomorrow, hallucinate, only the good die young, and gotta let it go are favs.cruise control,is not bad ,as well as bad actress. a good step in the right direction.

From: ryerordstar Date: May 2, 2008 at 15:08
This is actually a very good AOR cd. This is the album that should have come out after Adrenalize. They have returned to the style of rock that made them famous, and it is a pleasure to listen to them again.

There are 3 types of Def Leppard fans. 1. Those who like the early days of Pyromania & before 2. Those who like Hysteria & after. 3. Those who like both. I would consider myself in category 3. However, come on guys, we've heard the same Def Leppard over & over. (cough...Slang album doesnt even count...cough) So, despite wishing they would return to their roots with a real driving rock album like their early nwobhm days, this new offering has the same glossy pop rock sound they have carried around since the Adrenalize album. Not to say Hysteria wasn't a more pop sound but that album was somewhat charming & magical & it seems the band still wishes to duplicate it. Someday, they may finally trash this formula & give us a killer hard rock record again.

From: RockMan10 Date: May 3, 2008 at 0:03
These guys have all the talent in the world. Why they continue to accept mediocre songs is beyond me. They could have album after album of "Promises", "Photograph", etc but they choose not to. This is another disc of 1 or two songs worthy of a listen here or there and that's it. Seriously guys, one rhythem guitar track on EVERY song? Phil, you are in serious jeopardy of dropping from my list of exceptional guitarists to exceptionally lazy. This is not fit of the Def Leppard name.

From: Jemini Date: May 3, 2008 at 2:18
There's a couple songs on here that I really dig - Nine Lives & Tomorrow, and then a couple that I quite like - Only The Good Die Young & Gotta Let It Go. The rest are kinda 'meh' for me... it feels like I've heard them all before. I dunno... I guess I was expecting something different. It's worth a listen if you're a Def Lep fan though - no doubt it'll grow after a few more listens.

Def Leppard Are Back With Another Great CD. After Hearing Their CD: Yeah, I Was Thinking Maybe They Were Done For, But This New CD Has Some Great Songs On It. It's Alot Differant Than Pyromania And Hysteria, But It Has It's Own Unique Sound. My Favs: Go, C'Mon C'Mon, Love, Tomorrow, Hallucinate, Only The Good Die Young, Come Undone.

I think it is a very good album, not bad at all, in fact i think that this record could win points if itīs listened in detail. This album combine the most consistent elements of "Slang", The 70īs Glam Style of "Yeah", and that irresistible Pop side of "X". Melodies are very contundent, Choruses and vocal work as eficient as always, and a very solid album IMHO. Highlights in this record are: "Go"(in a Slang vein, but improved), "Nine Lives"(it reminds me to "Euphoria"), "Cīmon Cīmon"(very Glam, very T-Rex, a tipical "Yeah" kind of sound), "Love"(this sounds a lot to Queen, because of the Choruses, and a little bit of Kansas influence can be noticed here) and the Rocker "Bad Actress". Not their finest hour exactly, but a very solid album

From: kipvanpearcy Date: May 10, 2008 at 13:37
These guys are done and this album has nothing interesting on it. Maybe 2 songs worth the listen, other than that it's very bland and boring.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 15, 2008 at 19:06
Adrenalize sound????...i doubt it completely my dear mustaine TW...hope it was that way but it was not!!!.Another band that bid for the "new sound of rock".The songs are ok but nothing compare to their glorious days (now i'm talking,"Adrenalize"-"Hysteria" & so on)."Love" is a nice poppy song,"Tomorrow","Hallucinate","Only The Good Die Young",ect, ect ect...they all sound so fresh & new rock inspired that can be compare to anything that Matchbox 20 or Maroon 5 can do!!!(perhaps with less style but in that way).70/100

Very good album once I left behind my expectations for another Hig'n'Dry/Pyromania. Good solid songs with super catchy hooks, great harmony vocals, and enough guitar to bind it all together. I think it owes more to classic Brit invasion bands like the Kinks and Beatles than it does to any previous Def Lep release, including Adrenalize.

From: Doug Date: May 19, 2008 at 15:38
The Leppards need to get serious. This release is OK but not memorable. A couple of good songs but overall is just "sort of there." They seem to be just wanting to make music, keep their careers going but with no committment to being a GREAT band. They only have a few more years left in them...let's hope they find that fire again. Shania and Mutt are no longer, maybe they should give him a call and give it another go 'round?

From: www.vpxglobal.com Date: May 25, 2008 at 20:14
Hmmm, Not sure what to make of this album. I am a HUGE lepps fan but It feels like they wrote some good riffs and just put any old lyrics to go with it. It sort of Blends in to each other "Nine Lives" and "Come Undone" are good tunes but the rest just blends. Might be ok if you like the Guitar driven rock/AOR but you come away after listening to it dissapointed. Come on guys, Get back to Pyro/Hysteria/Adrenalise days. Hell even Uephoria and X were better than this. At least they had some good lyrics and tunes on them. IMHO

From: Geoff Date: May 27, 2008 at 23:33
I agree with a lot of what is said above. The CD's not bad but it sounds like it was written in a couple of days and there is very little here that is worthy of album time. 'Tomorrow' is amazing... by far the best on this CD. 'Hallucinate' and 'Go' are other highlights but aside from that there's not much else. 'Love' is bland as hell and there are a couple of fillers, but even the songs that aren't really fillers, aside from the 3 mentioned above, just aren't that great. A decent album, but not really worthy of Def Leppard's name. Seems kind of "lazy", dare I say.

Some good Songs, but far away from the Classic Albums !

From: metalmastermusic Date: June 5, 2008 at 15:31
I expected more from this album !! It is not bad but is definetly pop orientated instead of the guitar driven album it was early on portrayed to be. Hopefully the new Crue album will not be in the same vein. It doesn't have to be just like it was on any other album but this one just didn't have one single killer track that stood out to me. 70/100

From: Jay Brown Date: June 14, 2008 at 5:05
This was not a bad CD. "Go" and "Come undone" are excellent, and there are also many good rockin songs. No, it is not set up for radio airplay, and I don't really care for the new release. Country sellout is not my game. I like music for the feel that it gives you. Sometimes I don't even really hear the lyrics. This CD does not play into that high of an artistic level to be in that category, but it is still a good solid rock album. I like the little drum change in "Go", as it adds a modern sound in there. You'll hear it! Def Lep gets ripped on a lot, and they do not deserve it. No they are no talent laden group such as Dream Theater, but they sell songs, not concept.

From: BIG-TIME Date: August 19, 2008 at 9:15
This is the first D/L cd IMO that makes them sound like an average rock band!!! (apart from slang) the big lep sound ain't there, and I just don't care for any of the songs. There is a touch of new age like on GO, but you can expect (still don't like it) c'mon c'mon sounds like Gotthard-Lift U up, overall I just don't like this CD if your into Lep bigtime don't get this you will be disapointed...KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

From: ghettonation73 Date: December 7, 2008 at 20:30
Like the song Nine Lives, But Tim McGraw has got to go. Country Music sucks yak balls. Depressing Ass Hillybilly Shit, I'd take Slang over this and that's not saying much.

From: rbrigade Date: December 24, 2008 at 20:35
boring boring boring. Quit!

From: Rob Date: April 9, 2009 at 2:11
This is a band I wish would just disband and disappear. Pure garbage in every sense of the word. Avoid this attempt at being another modern band. Horrible.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: December 30, 2009 at 13:04
OK, it's a long way from their best work, but this is still a solid, if a bit unmemorable, rock album that doesn't make you want to chop your ears off when you hear it. They say a leopard can't change its spots, but Def Leppard definitely made some alterations on this outing; while the trademark harmony vocals are still present, the production approach is less polished, more stripped back, than it usually is. I'm not saying it's "raw" or anything like that--far from it--but it definitely skimped on the studio gloss that has permeated everything they've done since "Hysteria." Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is subject to debate, preferably while lounging by the pool on a hot summer day with cold beverages in hand and cool tunes on the stereo...and if those tunes happen to be from this CD, well, you could certainly do worse.

From: pie75 Date: July 13, 2010 at 4:00
this i think is one of the better leps albums the best i think since adrenalize no not memerable but a worthy addition nine lives, come on and love are good songs it's rawer than anything they've done in years but i wouldn't say it's completly stripped back maybe they should dilever a thumping 3 chord guitar driven rock album again to show everybody they still rock another high and dry will do that

From: 8407282 Date: January 25, 2011 at 13:52
IMO is quite clear that all the talent and what made this band great sadly died along with Steve Clark

From: hair metal again Date: January 28, 2019 at 5:44
excellent album once again for the mighty DEF LEPPARD in their own path of radio friendly hard rock music with pop hooks!nobody can do it like em and they still have this unique ability to sound so massive!these guys have always been impressive through the years

From: 123charpenay Date: February 13, 2019 at 11:20
great album, not perfect but great.track 1 and 6 sound too modern and not enough melodic at my taste.track 4 is a ballad in the vein of the beattles, not for me.track 12 (first japan bonus track) is a piano version of this ballad.definitively not for me.track 13 ,the second japan bonus track 13 is a def leppard s version of the excellent "nine lives".all the other songs are really excellent.we find def leppard in very great inspiration and disposal.i think that this record is at the same level than "euphoria".
