Truly a great American rock and roll band. These guys had loads of talent and great songs. They should have hit it really big. Here's one band that 'Coulda been a contender.'

From: freddy de keyze Date: January 7, 2003 at 13:36
This is indeed what I call a great AOR/pomp band, one of the most underrated of all times and much more talented than Leppar, Harem Scarem or Unruly Child. So where all the AOR fans to listen to all Shooting Star records (they're alle good, just the last one is not that good). Only one minor point, the production lacks a bit of power. Otherwise this is perfect class music, not to be missed !!!!

From: Larry Date: March 11, 2003 at 4:51
Great album! Favorite tracks include 'Don't Stop Now' and 'Last Chance'.

From: Joe Christopher Date: March 14, 2003 at 18:14
One of my all-time favorite bands, and this is probably my favorite album. I think a real under-rated track is 'You've Got What I Need'...the last 30-45 seconds of that song has some of the best Guitar I have ever heard...powerful! Van McLain was a VERY underrated musician!

From: Mike L. Date: May 8, 2003 at 1:36
Great debut album from a group the rest of the world missed out on. Not many bands can hold a candle to Shooting Star. 'Tonight' is an absolute rock classic.

From: Cal Dude Date: May 20, 2003 at 18:59
Found this band well after they had broken up, but bought most of their albums. Their early line-up was the best, and this is my favorite album - not a bad song on it. Burning and Hang on for Your Life are also very good. These guys should have been bigger than they got.

From: Infinity Date: January 1, 2004 at 16:23
this album is one of the best I`ve ever heard. 'Last chance' is an all-time classic!!

From: AOR freaky Date: January 15, 2004 at 5:28
Indeed,Infinity : Last Chance is BRILLIANT !!! This is a band that should have been famous ! Together with Legs Diamond and Y&T this is one of the very best acts ever, but also one of the most underrated. If I see how much attention a band like Harem Scarem gets and if I compare them to Shooting Star, Legs Diamond or Y&T, then it's very clear : HS is only third rate measured by the standards of these great acts !

From: David Date: January 30, 2004 at 13:57
A truly remarkable band. It just amazes me that they were not a Stadium rocking band during their time. What great talent. 'Last Chance' is an incredible rock tune that could easily be brought back into rotation on any classic rock station. While unpacking my old LP's I came across this one and for that reason only, I had to go and buy a new turntable. For those under 30, that is a machine that used to play black vinyl discs that hold music. Even better, found it online. What a GREAT BAND!

From: David Date: February 3, 2004 at 15:31
Shooting Star is awesome. Turn your speakers up on full blast. Play 'Last Chance.' Sit back in your couch and be f***ing amazed. As rip snorting good as a rock band can get. With keddle drums and violen, to add that special sound that marks a great era in rock music.

From: Scott Date: February 12, 2004 at 12:33
'Last Chance' is awesome. Where can I find the lyrics to 'Last Chance'?

From: Hugo Date: February 20, 2004 at 0:02
Shooting Star is the greates rock and roll band of all times, if you dont beleave it, buy the CD'S and listen to Last Chance , Tonight,Flesh and Blood, Are you on my side, there blow your mind......

From: STARFAN Date: March 7, 2004 at 20:44
Last Chance is absolutely E P I C R O C K ! ! ! Shooting Star is the best, most under-rated band I know. I have read that they got back together. I would pay a LOT to see them live. The VERY BEST of 80's ROCK...

From: AOR freaky Date: March 8, 2004 at 4:48
I really agree with this one, this is indeed one of the most underrated and best acts EVER ! Check it out !

From: Miguel (P.R.) Date: April 8, 2004 at 16:44
Shooting Star is an powerful band, under-rated due comercial or maybe radio airplay reasons... "Last Chance" is as good (maybe better) than "Stairway to Heaven" of Led Zeppelin. ¡Saludos a todos los rockeros desde Ponce, Puerto Rico! Thanks for include my comments! Sincerely, Miguel De Jesús (coleccionista de "Classic Rock").

I'm a huge fan, I love this band.Hard to find web sites on them.If anyone knows of a site to get tabs and lyrics please let me know.

From: MikeL Date: December 10, 2004 at 14:06
Bill, shootingstarmaniac.com is the best site to find information about the band. However, it has been down for the last few weeks. The band had gone part-time about a year ago so news is slow on them right now.

From: Joe Date: January 23, 2005 at 22:09
I didn't discover this album by Shooting Star until many years later. It's a solid piece of hard rock. Were any of these songs played on the radio back in 1980?

Another very good debut album, and probably the finest release of their catologue, although 'Silent Scream' & 'Burning' also come highly recommended. Everyone here seems to rate 'Last Chance' as the choice track on here and i totally agree with that, although there are some other choice cuts on this namely the excellent 'Bring It On' 'Midnight Man' 'Don't Stop Now' & 'Tonight'.

From: AOR freaky Date: February 4, 2005 at 13:29
Do you say that if you say white that I'm saying black ! Once again wrong, Jez, cause I fully agree. This is a superclass CD with one of the BEST EPIC SONGS EVER, the mighty 'LAST CHANCE ! Phenomenal one ! And this is A SUPER BAND !

From: hair metal again Date: June 10, 2010 at 13:25
good debut release by SHOOTING STAR with many melodic lines, plenty of keys and solid guitar solos.early 80 s sound, very capable vocals but not so memorable songs i think.highlights are the opener "you ve got what i need",the rocker "bring it on " and the epic "last chance".overall you have a strong release of that era,but nothing spectacular though.good band

From: rick kerch vzla Date: October 27, 2010 at 21:37
Great Debut!!! ...this was the beginning of one of the most charismatic AOR bands around but somehow underrated up to these days shamely...well in here we have jewels such as "You've Got What I Need" & "Don't Stop Now" both of excellent quality,"Higher" is a pretty catchy track,"Just Friends" is one of the most beautiful ballads i've ever heard,"Bring It On" rocks along with "Midnight Man" & "Last Chance" closes my vinyl as a highlight (do not have this album on cd so i don't know how the bonus track is like but surely is a goodie song too)...perfect beginning Shooting Star!!!...88/100

From: 707STAR Date: December 8, 2018 at 22:26
A SOLID DEBUT RELEASE FROM THIS MIDWEST BAND OF SUPERB TALENT. THEY GOT SO GOOD BUT THE PUBLIC JUST DID NOT CATCH ON TILL LATER AND THESE GUYS DESERVED MASSIVE FAME AND FORTUNE BUT I,M SURE THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. THEIR MUSIC LIVES ON THROUGH ME FOREVER. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
