This album was one of the biggest of '81!! A Must Have!!

From: Carl Taylor Date: April 22, 2001 at 21:15
I agree with the guy who posted above. This one is a classic and anybody who loves rock should have it. "Gypsy Queen" is the best track. Damn fine album from damn fine band. Thanks for the good music Myles!

From: Jennifer Date: April 24, 2001 at 13:04
Best damn album they ever did. A classic piece of work. Turn off your computer, get in your car, and go to your nearest CD store and buy this one. You need it.

From: Aussie Nod Date: April 26, 2001 at 14:25
even down here some of us can appreciate this fine album..agree with all the comments from above ,,AND THEN SOME...truly Wines best effort

From: Ed Date: April 27, 2001 at 20:38
wow! so great to see this here and I can leave my opinion of this band's best music. "Wine" has been my fave act for years and this one is a CLASSIC. 'Just between' "All over Town" and "Gypsy Queen' are the hot songs but the whole thing is just super.

From: Gary Boyle Date: April 29, 2001 at 10:24
Rock and roll at its best/such a SUPER piece of music.

From: Melinda Date: May 5, 2001 at 13:31
Superb set of songs from one of Canada's finest bands. "All Over Town," "Gypsy Queen," and "Just Between" are the highlights here. Wine had so many good albums, but this was their biggest seller. Check out their older stuff too if you want some more good music. They were the first band to sell more than a million records in Canada, now that really says something about April Wine. "Nature" is a classic and ranks with the best of all time.

From: Billy Date: May 18, 2001 at 0:33
All I have to say is this one KICKS ASS. If you have heard it you know what I mean.

From: RockDude Date: June 2, 2001 at 21:32
Wine's best, and one of the best albums of the 1980's by a long shot. Classic tunes, great production--superb vocals. As close to perfect as you can get.

From: Gary Boole Date: July 22, 2001 at 21:08
This is an album you can put in your tape deck on a hot summer day and crank it up and just enjoy some great music. I seen the band on every tour from 78 to present and they are always great to see live. For more info on the band vistit their web site at www.aprilwine.net or my interview with them at www.angelfire.com/rock2/rockinterviews/aprilwine.html

From: Bob Date: June 30, 2002 at 21:34
Kicks ass!

From: Steve T Date: July 29, 2002 at 7:40
Amazing album....the playing and production are huge. Great songs and Sign Of The Gypsy Queen and Just Between You And Me are AOR ballads of the highest quality.

From: Beevuss Date: September 16, 2002 at 20:48
They sure don't make 'em like this anymore. This one totally freakin' RULES!

From: Metal Man Date: October 9, 2002 at 16:23
A classic. Easily one of the top rock albums of all time. Top to bottom, its a keeper.

From: Lar in Brussels Date: October 21, 2002 at 19:06
C'mon, you people can't be serious. This website is supposed to be about hard rock! After their previous two albums with great tunes like Roller and "I like to Rock", they really wimped out and went for the pop charts with this one. Ugh - a big disappointment.

From: vics Date: January 11, 2003 at 9:22
only listened to "j.b.y.a.m" .. but if they can make a song like that .. I WANNA ALL THEIR MOFOing ceedees!!!!!!!!!!!

From: Geddty Date: February 5, 2003 at 1:17
I'd have to agree with Lar in Brussels; this one's not too bad, but not up to par for the Wines' older stuff!

From: Rob In Dallas Date: March 23, 2003 at 23:16
I'd say that it's their best known album and its one that i've played a b-zillion times thru the years..

From: Doug Date: March 30, 2003 at 19:03
A real fine album from start to finish! If you like this check out Powerplay! Pretty darn close in my opinion!

I'll never forget the first time I heard the lasers bouncing back-and-forth in my head while listening to "Caught in the Crossfire" on my Walkman! Priceless moment in my own personal rock 'n' roll history! Whiplash1972

From: Knuckles Date: June 16, 2003 at 15:08
What a great record. It is good to see so many different favorite songs on it.My stand out track is FUTURE TENSE.

From: marin Date: August 7, 2003 at 22:52
maybe im just a lunetic.but april wine and blue oyster cult are too similar sounded to me.and i luv both of them.

From: mixaplic Date: November 9, 2003 at 22:28
As far as albums are concerned 'Nature Of The Beast' is by far April Wine's best effort. "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen" and "Just Between You And Me" gave them chart success but the rest of the tracks are just as good. All Over Town, Tellin' Me Lies, Caught in the Crossfire, Future Tense, Big City Girls, Crash and Burn are all great tracks. This is a class act and a classic release. 1-10 scale: 8

From: Tomcat Date: November 10, 2003 at 9:11
Sign of the gypsy queen' ROCKS. April WIne knows how to rock my world..

From: Rockpig! Date: November 14, 2003 at 21:25
So glad to see that everyone loves this one as much as I do. Sorry Lars from Brussels...you're outvoted on this one! The Winos were definitely peaking and rocking hard during this period. Starting with "First Glance", continuing with "Harder, Faster" and this one...What a trilogy of Hard Rock! Mighty Fine Wine indeed....

From: MetalHead16 Date: December 6, 2003 at 12:35
This CD is so kick-ass that they could release it as a greatest hits compilation!!!

From: Metal Pete Date: March 24, 2004 at 18:50
Their best work, period. I continued buying their records for years based on this one album. This album is a MUST.

From: Chris Date: June 1, 2004 at 14:47
This is a great album along with all the rest. I been buying April Wine albums since the feet album. They are the best.

From: Rycheage Date: August 13, 2004 at 22:36
Probably their most commercial record and definitely their most recognized. "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen" and "Just Between You & Me" are the hits but the rest of the album is excellent AOR. This album is probably loved and hated by AOR fans, and rightly so. Classic fans felt betrayed by the commercialism and non-fans love it for the same reasons. It is very coherent and worthy of being in any AOR lover's collection. Just my opinion.

From: Axelinger Date: October 28, 2004 at 17:16
One More Time got a lot of airplay around Toronto back when this album was released... I must be in the minority here, but I think it's a killer track...

From: Propane Date: December 3, 2004 at 18:18
Biggest and baddest bunch of beautiful noise these dudes ever projected. THE one to own, bar none. This rendition of Crash and burn shreds.

From: Remastered Reason Date: January 15, 2006 at 1:29
Generally considered as the bands peak & best effort. Yet, while there is no arguing the fact that this album mostly rocks, one can't help but notice a few lame filler tunes. Cheese with your wine anyone?

From: rene Date: February 20, 2006 at 15:44
I love this album so much. Pure hard rock/melodic metal from the early 80s that still sound great today of course. A very good release by this great Canadian hard rock band.

From: Carlos A. Date: March 10, 2007 at 12:03
Demonios!! ojala pronto comente este disco para muchos uno de los mejores de los April, por lo poco que he escuchado considero a la poderosa "All Over Town", "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" (trepidante a lo Dont fear the reaper de los Blue Oyster pero con guitarrazos sensacionales) y la maravilla (creo que ya conocida por todos) "Just Between You and Me" ....joyazas de hardrock primigenio 80´s Un Clasicos Absoluto.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 5, 2007 at 16:27
Very Good Hard Rock, el segundo mejor trabajo en esa decada mayormente encontramos cortes de Hard Rock aunque tambien algunos que se cruzan con el AOR un album con bastante influencia del sonido y estilo 70's pero combinado con la frescura de los 80's otro album recomendado de hecho 8.5/10

From: shoemaker Date: September 17, 2007 at 9:31
Oh man, I don´t like this. Only "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" is a good one. The rest is boring Rock´n Roll stuff. I expected more after all these positiv comments.

From: shoemaker Date: October 2, 2008 at 14:12
Yeah, this is a real boring classic.

From: Animal! Date: January 22, 2011 at 1:02
My sleeper tune on this is "All over town"

From: Doug Date: January 24, 2011 at 16:24
"Harder...Faster" and "First Glance" are what made me fans of AW. This was their breakout album though; good but not great. I think even "Power Play" is better. But at least they were putting out rock albums; man, their very early stuff was horrible.

From: 123charpenay Date: February 4, 2015 at 12:15
i m like shoemaker, after all these super comments i expected many more.what a big deception.this record is boring .april wine pl

From: 123charpenay Date: February 4, 2015 at 12:17
sorry i say that april wine play a very average hard rock n roll.absoluty no interest.it s the first time that i buy a cd of this band ,for sure it s the last time!

From: petermexico13 Date: January 14, 2016 at 18:19
This is a great record! If you say this is boring, you are wrong!, it shows that you don´t grow in the early 80's, because this band have a nice old school sound, You need to dig in the 70´s to apreciate the evolution of many bands. But if you don´t like it, you can´t say that this is boring for that simple reason. Great armonies, twin guitars! come on! this is April Wine at it´s Best!!Sign of the Gyspy Queen, Future Tense, Just Between You and Me, if you need more 80´s sound just check "Walking Through Fire" of 1985.
