Mar Mangold is not a stranger for aor-fans. This album & the second one are two aor-jewels. Al Fritsch delivers a great vocal effort. Recommended.

From: tony w Date: March 7, 2001 at 3:09
Great songs and perfomance slightly let down by the poor production ...still a must buy

From: GUROL GURLER Date: October 29, 2001 at 2:40
Really an Incredible album! And Al Fritsch's excellent vocals. If you want to know what is AOR,then you must buy this album.

From: Federico Date: January 26, 2002 at 12:54
A little boring for my taste, good vocals part, great melody, but where is the electricity? Too many sweet love songs. Good for sleep.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 15, 2002 at 10:58

From: Gar Date: August 11, 2002 at 19:10
Pretty typical commercial 80s rock. Mark Mangold's earlier band Touch was much better.

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 5, 2002 at 8:05
Once again a perfect record. First class pure AOR, with breathtaking songs, great hooks, fantastic keys by maestro Mark Mangold, so you have it all here !!! Buy also their Best Of ' Road To Paradise '! This is how AOR should sound ! PERFECT and RECOMMENDED !!!!! BUY !!!!!!!

From: Goodyear 87 Date: September 7, 2002 at 21:56

From: Xabofar Date: May 18, 2003 at 20:11
FANTASTIC AOR BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE INCREDIBLE DEBUT OF TOUCH(pero es que eso es imposible, claro). Amen

From: Scandinavia Date: July 16, 2003 at 4:41
Just got this album...Wow! This is top notch...Never heard this band before....Very polished but with balls. Great outstanding songs. "Hard Way Home" really got my adrenaline pumpin'....Highly recommended for lovers of quality AOR...

From: pablo Date: September 6, 2003 at 8:51

From: caluche Date: November 10, 2003 at 17:50

From: AOR freaky Date: November 25, 2003 at 11:08
Their first and still their best ! A real CLASSIC ! Pure AOR HEAVEN is what we get from these guys ! This is a band to love ! A MUST !

Q pedazo d Obra Maestra!! Maravilloso... conduce dijo ella en 1989!!! 8 sobre 10!!

From: gener8tr Date: April 14, 2004 at 18:12
Every track on this album was taken straight off the cutting room floor from Mangold's previous band TOUCH. Having said that, I particularly enjoy this release!

From: Rycheage Date: June 5, 2004 at 11:42
The lush 'As She Touches Me (Why Can't I Believe)' coupled with the 'Twitch' era sounding 'Love Has No Pride', a song co-penned and co-produced by Aldo Nova. 'If This Is Love' is their trademark song, AOR of the purest kind. The Fiona co-write 'Hard Way Home' is straight ahead melodic rock with an organ base, while the Touch chestnut 'Don't You Know What Love Is' gets a make-over. AOR of the purest form. Excellent stuff.

From: Wotty Date: August 15, 2004 at 14:12
Listened to this today and was still blown away by how superb this album is.I tried to listen to Real Life, and it is not a patch on this.At 15 years old it still sounds fresh and puts some new releases to shame, unfortunate but true.Listening to some 80s CDs do conjure up these feelings.

From: Geoff Date: August 15, 2004 at 21:03
I like 'If this is love', 'Hold on' and 'As she touches me' but as a few other classics in other people's collections often prove to be, there are just way too many keyboards on this one and nowhere near enough balls. I guess it's an okay album, but definately not a fave of mine. A bit weak, dare I say. Some pretty cool songs htough. 6/10

From: Metalhead Date: November 11, 2004 at 16:18
There are compositions here that are too bland but the excellent synths have improved them alot. Great synth arrangements. Also love the guitar playing especially on Hard Way Home.

From: Metalhead Date: November 11, 2004 at 17:53
Actually, not just on Hard Way Home. Almost all of the guitar solos here are good. The guitar should have been given equal importance here as the synths. Anyway, great album through out.

From: Scandinavia Date: December 1, 2004 at 4:58
Just dusted this gem off again...MAAAAANNNN!!! It's awesome...It stays on my all time top 10 for another year I'm sure... It doesn't really get any better...

Hey Scandanavia. When it comes to D.S.S. I'm in full agreement with you!!!

From: Scandinavia Date: December 1, 2004 at 6:14
BTW, have you checked out MYSTIC HEALER???

From: Stu Date: March 14, 2005 at 12:52
Fritsch & Mangold know AOR & they play it well. Songs like If This Is Love, Hard Way Home & Love Has No Pride carry this cd. Most of these songs were writen over a span of 4 years, so some sound more dated than others but overall this is a strong AOR cd classic.

From: Axe Machine Date: May 12, 2005 at 7:50
Timeless- a must own piece in the collection of any serious AOR fan...the best work Mangold has appeared on other than Michael Bolton's 'Everybodys Crazy' album. 10/10

Definately one of my favourite albums of '89 and any other year for that matter. Most peoples comments above sum this one up nicely. After the 'Classic' Touch album, without a doubt Mark Mangolds finest hour. One AOR album that is full to the brim of great songs - with no filler to be seen. One deserving the 'Classic' tag in my books and an album they unfortunately never bettered in future releases.

From: Sex Driver Date: August 12, 2005 at 10:06
BEAUTIFUL, all songs is magic, listen Brigde 2 Far!! 9.5/10

From: victordeaor Date: August 18, 2005 at 12:04

From: juan carlos Date: December 25, 2005 at 14:20

El sonido es de lujo. Luego las canciones en sí no me parecen para tanto (excepto If this is love), pero bueno..para gustos..

From: Carlos A. Date: June 20, 2006 at 19:36
AOR 80`s avasallador!!Esta banda tiene claras influencias de aor melodico USA predomina la voz rockera de Al Fritsch los guitarrazos no tan pretenciosos y claro los magicos teclados que hacen de cada cancion melodias para recordar.... solo escuchen: If This Is Love,Hard Way Home,Don't You Know,Love Has No Pride,Hold On,If I Told You,I Close My Eyes,y el increible punto final: As She Touches Me...casi el 100% de los temas realmente bien trabajados, si aun no lo tienes que esperas? 9/10

From: mauricio Date: July 2, 2006 at 21:53
absolutas del rock melodico, con esos ritmos de medio tiempo donde predomina mucho el sonido de los teclados de MARK MANGOLD y la voz de AL FRITSCH es asi misma excelente la interpretacion en este disco que hacen lo hacen una super joya del rock melodico lleno de magia,un disquito de coleccion donde quiera que se precie.y que todos deberian de tener es IMPRESCINDIBLE.solo escucha DONT YOU KNOW,I CLOSE MY EYES,AS SHE TOUCH ME,IF I TOLD YOU.de todos modos hay de donde escoger, para gustos colores.

From: mauricio Date: July 2, 2006 at 21:54
SHE SAID.a comprarlo. altamente RECOMENDADO 10/10 maujobarksott@hotmail.com

Perfect vocals, awesome chorus, great melodies. A lot of guitars and nice keyboards. Hard to tell which track's the best. A killer,a monster and absolute Mercedes Benz in AOR category.

From: aorteto Date: November 29, 2006 at 12:29
Their best, IMO. No fillers an all winners. Melodic rock - HARD WAY HOME, pure aor - I CLOSE MY EYES, hi-tec pop aor - LOVE HAS NO PRIDE It`s like a book of how to make an AOR album. Beautiful !!!!!!!!

QUE DISCAZO. POR SUPUESTO NO PUEDES ESPERAR ALGO MENOS, CUANDO VIENE DE EL SEÑOR MARK MANGOLD. LA PRIMERA VEZ QUE LO ESCUCHE EMPEZANDO DE UNA MANERA AVASALLADORA CON IF THIS IS LOVE, QUE HASTA LA FECHA ES MI FAVORITA. LOVE HAS NO PRIDE, QUE HERMOSA COMPOSICION. MAYBE IT'S LOVE AOR EN SU ESPLENDOR. LARGA VIDA DRIVE SHE SAID Y EL AOR. SALUDOS A LA BANDA QUE DEJA SUS COMENTARIOS EN EL HEAVYHARMONIES.

YOU'RE RIGHT WHITESNAKE M.A.S.T.E.R. P.I.E.C.E., THE DRIVIN WHEEL IS VERY GOOD AND THE EXCELERATOR TOO, BUT THIS IS AOR GEM. LON LIVE HARH-AOR.

Muy bueno gran trabajo buenos teclados y guitarras 8.50/10 ,¨Don't You Know¨ muy buen tema

From: newscandi Date: May 14, 2007 at 16:14
Very good AOR one. Smooth and laid back but still with a lot of power. Imagine the best parts of STRANGEWAYS, BOULEVARD & RED DAWN, DARE with ONLY CHILD and you should have it! Even WEST OF SUNSET and FINGERPRINTS I hear. Highly recommended as it has a lot of keys, but guitars and groove too, added with a genre alike perfect fitting voice. My favourites here (so far ) are the pumping "HARD WAY HOME", "I CLOSE MY EYES" or the ballad "BUT FOR YOU" ..but very constant overall. 8,7/10

From: coverdale14 Date: November 14, 2007 at 13:37
DRIVE SHE SAID, TOUCH, MYSTIC HEALER RULESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: December 22, 2007 at 19:17
Discazo redondo, lleno de calidad de principio a fin. Tiene algo de TOUCH donde estaba Mangold antes de hacerse del volante jeje, y algunas cosas de FOREIGNER y JOURNEY, asi que tambien los citaria como referencia, pero aqui se consigue un sello un tanto particular, aunque a veces se nos vayan un poquito al Hard en "Hard Way Home", pero ahi estan temazos como "If This Is Love", "Don't You Know" y "But For You" que dan constancia del talento de Fritsh y Mangold!

From: george_the_jack Date: May 13, 2008 at 11:21
Mr Mangold was, is and will be a music genius..This album contains a remake of Don;t you know what love is from the Touch album 1980....Really outstanding! 92/100

From: rick kerch vzla Date: December 13, 2010 at 12:58
Amazing debut..the beginning of a band that consits of 2 marvellous musicians ( Mark Mangold & Al Fritsch) both of highly reputation in the music business...great songs packed with whole hearted passion and emotion tipically of AOR bands but with the difference that these guys knew exactly how to reach feelings and sensations..."Is This Is Love","Love Has No Pride","Maybe Is Love",Hold On (Hands Around Your Heart)"But For You"...easily songs that will persist forever & ever in every self respected AOR fan...get it!.95/100

From: happy2849 Date: March 7, 2011 at 15:48
Going through my collection from A to Z and forgot I had this one. Just finished playing it and probably will play it again. Two great musicians doing what they do best. If you are into top-notch melodic rock/AOR then this will light your fire. BUY!

From: hair metal again Date: January 8, 2016 at 0:21
superb debut by DRIVE SHE SAID with Mark Mangold fit perfectly with Al Fritch!the songs are of the highest quality ,the musicianship very fine and the whole result could be better it was more guitar driven !anyway "if this is love",'hard way home","don t you know","love has no pride" and "maybe it s love" are sensational songs!essential
