| A good debut album, with good production from Mike Slamer (Wall of Silence), but you've heard several of these songs performed better by other bands: "Metallic Blue" by House of Lords; "Dr. Love" by Hardline; "Can't Fight Love" also by House of Lords; and "Fire With Fire" by Tower City. That's not to say STEELHOUSE LANE's versions are bad, because they're not, but I think the other bands do a superior job. Anyway, if you're a melodic hard rock fan, this release is worth picking up.

| M. Allen - In Case you are not aware Mike Slamer wrote all those songs and House of Lords, Hardline etc covered the songs on there CDs.I believe the band "Eyes" covered Mike Slamer as well.

| Excellent debut CD. "Find Your Way Home" is an excellent power ballad. "Surrender" is an extremely catchy tune. 9.5 out of 10.

| A New Hope in 1998, Steelhouse Lane's debut features some familiar Slamer co-written songs performed by the new band which gain immediate interest from hard rock die hards. The sound of Hardline is here and for fans of the band dreaming of a second Double Eclipse to occur, Metallic Blue was it. A good mix of rockers and slower songs with overall unique melodicy flow throughout the cd. Much more raw and straight forward than their follow up but strong none the less.

| This is a good debut album, although it takes a few listens to really get the feel for it. There are some great ballads, and some better rockier tunes. This is an album that needs to be given a chance to grow on you before you can really appreciate it. The second album is much better - check it out.

| Great Album- Songwriting, performances, production, all. Who's Tony Fields? Never heard of the guy. Maybe some friend of Chris Thompson or a gun brought into the project by Slamer. Obviously a talent among many on both albums. After doing a search online for Fields all I found was a professor out of England (which could be a possibility being that Mike is from THE BEATLEs country), the other a young kid out of LA whose name is Field without an "s". A Mystery my friends. Tony, who are you?

| Great album, Metallic Blue (the opening track) is a fantastic ditty (reminds me a bit of up-tempo Def Leppard) and the pace doesn't really let up after that, Addicted (could have been an AOR classic!), Dr Love (we all know this one!) etc. One minor complaint, Slack is an excellent singer (loved that Schenker live album he did) but he lacks that killer touch people like Christian and Gioelli have and that does show here and there.

| I have two favourite bands - my 80's fave is Treat, and my after the 80's fave is Steelhouse Lane. This release is excellent melodic hard rock, nothing less. 'Still' is one of the best songs I have ever heard and chills me still today, 'Surrender' has a very similar affect. Every ballad here is spectacular, and the rockers are great. Special note about 'Best years of my life' - probably the best of 3 perfect ballads. A killer CD. Highly recommended!

| esto es una de las mas claras injusticias del mundo de la musica... Un grupo con dos inmensos albunes y que apenas es conocido, este grupo en los 80's hubiese reventado las listas de ventas... Este disco es tan recomendable como el siguiente. dos discos de notable muy muy alto... Si te gusta el Rock Melodico es un autentico pecado no tenerlo... super recomendado. 8'5/10

OTRO BUEN ALBUM NO TAN BUENO COMO EL SIGUIENTE, TIENE SUS PUNTOS MAS ALTOS EN  Still, Surrender, Addicted(DE LOS WALL OF SILENCE), Metallic Blue ASI QUE ESTAMOS ANTE UN BUEN DEBUT, SI NO TIENES NADA DE ELLOS TE RECOMIENDO SU SIGUIENTE OBRA QUE ES MUCHO MEJOR QUE ESTA.

| This is top notch melodic rock with a set memorable tracks, especially my fave 'Surrender' which is an awesome track and the best on show here. This is also notable for having not 1 but 3 quality ballads on show. Of the rest, I would agree that the House Of Lords versions of 'Metallic Blue'& 'Can't Fight Love' are superior along with Hardline's 'Dr. Love' but not by a huge margin. Definately one for all the Giant/Whitesnake fans out there!!!

| Que gran Disco! en mi humilde opinion mejor que el segundo (no así para la mayoria :-() Empieza con la maravilla llamada "metallic blue" vaya tema! y asi una tras otra, quizas 2 temas que no dan la talla como la 9 y la 11, pero el resto? son temazos! versiones o no son grandes temas.. escucha "fire with fire" la adictiva "addicted" o ese temazo llamado "still" o las baladas "find your way home" "best years of my life" y ese final de finales llamada "brighter day" no es bello? 9.2/10

| "Addicted" is an amazing song, as is "Find Your Way Back Home", the remaining disc did little for me. Does the Slaves.... record contain any songs that are as good as the ones I mentioned?

| Imagine that the release of this cd happens in the mid eighties...They could have made their way to the top without any problems. A shame that it's release was 1998, things where quite different

| to the first comments:mike slamer did not write but co-write all these songs.they first appeared on those bands albums and are naturaly better.metallic blue + can't find love = house of lords , surrender(i won't surrender) + fire with fire = tower city , addicted = wall of silence , dr. love = hardline

| What a great album we have here, excellent Melodic Hard Rock/AOR only for fans of this style, thay have a japan bonus track in their second album called "IF LOVE SHOULD GO" it's one of the best songs I've heard, this song is a Streets cover

| For me Steelhouse Lane is Mike Slamer's best work, and this one edges Slaves of the New World as the better of the 2. Lots of good stuff here, especially the run of six out of the first seven tracks (not Dr Love).

| Killer release, certain tracks remind me of Giant, a perfect blend of power and melody. Mike Slamer is always a guarantee for solid guitar-work with plenty of hooks and great solos ! Best slices ? Surrender, Addicted and Fire With Fire.

| I found this very disappointing. Surrender is a good song, as is Metallic Blue (although the House of Lords version is slightly better). The rest of it I can take or leave, all sounds very soft to me and I just don't rate the tunes.

| Very solid stuff,this debut along with its follower are both excellent ones...a band that showed good music skills through out its music...about the versions they do here i agree with M.Allen's comment but talking about the band's own ones, "Surrender"(solid mid tempo),"Addicted","Find Your Way Home","Still"(AORish ala Night Ranger IMO)& "Brighter Day"(killer ballad)are just wonderful pieces of Melodic Hard Rock...recommended album...90/100

| steelhouse lane is not a real band,it s a mike slamer s project.mr slamer have the brilliant idea to reissue some killers songs, he wrote several years ago ,for many melodic rock bands.no need to be, like us some real die hard rock fans for lovin this disc.anybody could love this sensational a o r album.why?cause all the songs are exceptional,very melodic and very easy to listen.an excellent start for people who wants discover a o r.they will be hooked for sure!!!!

| The songs are excellent certainly but the originals are a bit better. Metallic Blue is done better by House of Lords, Addicted is a great song but hearing this version just makes me want to hear the Wall of Silence version again, Dr. Love is done better by Hardline and Fire With Fire is actually one of the few Tower City tracks I actually like. It's as though Slamer wanted to redo a lot of the songs that he wrote but his versions just lack the punch the originals have. Having said that, this is still a very decent album: Slamer's playing, like always, is near perfection and the vocals and rythm section are nicely produced. Other highlights are Still, Can't Fight Love (slightly different from the House of Lords version) and Brighter Day.

| i can add that the only bad point is the production.the production is weak,i ve the feeling to hear some demos with a good sound."slaves of the new world" have a real great production.if you listen their first album and then the second ,the difference is obvious.
