| A MUST HAVE FOR ALL MELODIC ROCK LOVERS.HARDER THAN THE OTHER HEARTLAND PRODUCTS.GITARS RIFFS ARE STRONGER AND MELODICS HARMONIES ARE HIGH LEVEL. VERY GOOD.

| Another CD that came saran-wrapped in a lot of hype and critical ballyhoo, but now sits on my shelf virtually unplayed. I didn't mind "The Man in the Iron Mask" but this band hasn't done it for me since their debut way back in 1991. Which, if you've suffered through as many mediocre Heartland releases as I have, seems like a LONG time ago. This band just doesn't excite me... like an ex-girlfriend who's put on 50 pounds and gave up brushing her teeth in 1991.

| Excellent release after 2000's superb 'As It Comes' release. I can see where Koogles is coming from up until then, but the last two releases have been stunning in all departments.

| Gotta disagree with ya Koogs. To my ears this is the most consistent Heartland release since the debut. AND it rocks. 'Man In The Iron Mask' is awesome. And it's nice to hear Morris show what he can do on the closer 'Classical Blast'. 8.5/10.

| The harder edge is apparent on the opener, the aptly named 'Imagine My Surprise'. Yes indeed. 'Best Of Times' has an atmospheric quality to it, with an upbeat surging chorus which gives the track some energy. The keyboard sequences are very cool. Keeping up the pace is the rather powerful but funky 'The Bottom Line', and they even chuck in a token AOR effort with 'All Her Own Way' before 'Classical Blast' ends up as an instrumental pot-pourri.

| I remember reading a 10/10 review for this in a rock mag back when it was released. Whoever that was needs to get out more, as this is very lame melodic hard-rock almost devoid of any melody. I guess this is aimed at a whole batch of new fans, as fans of the first 3 albums are not going to get into this. As much as I still like to hear Chris Ousey sing, I'd much rather just put on one of the first 3 albums than keep buying new material. 5/10.

| The musicianship is again impeccable as all do an admirable job, yet I can't help but feel that the music is a bit samey. The songs since 'Heartland III' can all be interchanged and no one would know the difference. Doesn't mean it's bad. In fact, it's quite good, yet I can't help but think that it could've been better.

| Like Koogles, this sits in my record collection virtually unplayed. I have not liked Heartland since Wide Open and haven't loved them since the debut. Shame that Ousey hasn't been involved with one of those Frontiers Records projects, God knows he needs some good songs to sing! Opening track on this is good, but the album suffers from poor production (which would sound good if all you had ever heard were Heartland albums from the mid nineties onwards) and overall poor songwriting.Highly Average.

Great album!!!...melodic rock/AOR with a bit of an edge here and there..."Imagine My Surprise","Follow Me","Man In The Iron Mask","The Best Of Times"(killer song!),"Time And Tide" & "All Her Own Way" are my faves...recommended...'nuff said  ...90/100
