Produced by AOR/BLVD Records top fella David A Saylor (ex Push UK, Wild Rose) and his right hand man Jon Dewsbury, this is a very interesting 'project. The idea was to get some great singers to sing some cult AOR numbers by the likes of Stan Bush, Outside Edge etc, so here we have 'Santa Ana Winds'. I am not gonna beat around the bush here, there is some really great 80's AOR on this. Plenty of keyboards and great vocals. 'Don't Stand In My Way' (Charlie) kicks off with a really cool vocal by Road Kings singer Bran Henshaw. The Stan Bush written 'Blinded' is next up, Bush fans will know the song but others may recognise it as Quiet Riot did it as 'Slave To Love'. Bill Quateman's 'Love Is A Mystery' is performed excellently as is the Outside Edge song Teardrop, which is beautifully sang by newcomer Rebecca Owen, what a find she is. Saylor produces some awesome vocal work on Sad Cafe's 'Clocks' and killer AOR in the form of the Janet Minto penned 'If We Call It Love'. Killer stuff.

Santa Ana Winds is a nice album and lovers of those glory years from the 80's (like me) will drool all over it. It is produced with a very limited budget however and it shows, but do not let that put you off this album as the quality of the songs and the performances shine through. Rebecca Owen is a really great find and Henshaw sings his ass off, great voice. Is there anything that David Saylor can't sing? I've sang his praises a few times on here and he never fails to deliver top quality AOR, and Santa Ana Winds is no exception. Great stuff.
