Quite possibly THE melodic hard rock release of 2002. The guitars are aggressive yet still melodic, the hooks sink in instantly, the choruses all have that over-the-top European flabor, & the backing vocals are pumped up to the max courtesy of producer Tommy Newton (Crystal Ball). 'We'll Drag You Down' is the toughest, meanest rocker this band has ever pulled off, and the remake of 'Larger Than Life' is simply perfect. Even the most jaded heart will have to admit this is high-quality hard rock.

Agreed! This one came out of nowhere and surprised the hell out of me. IV was 'ok' but nothing special; I really wasn't looking forward to the new one with great anticipation... this is IMHO the best album they've done.

From: Reno Date: June 17, 2002 at 20:13
I just got this cd today and I am totally blown away. I wasn't expecting Larger Than Life though. It's usually all the R&B bands taking the rock tunes and redoing them. Jaded Heart kicked it in the ass!! I love this cd. Huge Guitar riffs and awesome vocals. This could be their best cd yet. It'll be hard to top Slaves, but I think it'll do it.

From: Reno Date: June 17, 2002 at 21:29
OK...I've listened to this cd 2 times through now and I have to say it does top Slaves & Masters. Awesome production behind this one!!!

From: David Date: June 22, 2002 at 2:20
How can the Heavy Harmonies Owner think that IV was just O.K. Does anyone know?

From: Federico Date: June 24, 2002 at 15:20
Hey Reno, Thank you for your suggestions. I am a fan of J.H. too. In my opinion their absolute master piece is Slaves and Masters. After that they still do good music, but not as great as S.& M. This new one has some great tracks and some strange tracks, We'll drag u down for example is a new mtal track, they also make a cover of B.Boys, very strange choice. Sure they have the balls to do what they really like. My favs are On the rise and the pary rock haven of These are the good times. Before g

From: Federico Date: June 24, 2002 at 15:22
Before give this an 8, I will give other spins 'cause I saw that Reno and Dan consider this a master piece.

From: T-BONE Date: June 24, 2002 at 20:20
I agree that this is a Masterpiece as well, but it ties with the Slaves cd. I think IV deserves a little better explaination than...OK. I loved their version of Easy Lover. The production behind this new cd is huge. This was not a cheap record to do. They put time and effore into it. I love this cd.

From: THE ROCKER Date: July 8, 2002 at 12:47
UN BUEN DISCO AUNQUE POR DEBAJO DE LOS ANTERIORES

From: Janxy Date: October 24, 2002 at 13:47
Funny you should say that about the production T-Bone. My personal preference was that IV had the edge in the production stakes. This one sounds a little more claustrophobic to my ears, and therefore I rate the album as fairly good, but a little too average to make it on this years 'must' list.

From: Rycheage Date: November 29, 2002 at 10:16
This CD is the best AOR release of 2002. Hands down. Michael Bormann is at his best. 'Kid is Going Down' and the title track are the standouts on a CD that stands above all AOR releases in 2002.

From: freddy de keyze Date: December 2, 2002 at 3:58
Dear Rycheage. I respect your opinion, but this the best AOR of 2OO2 ? ! Please, listen to Mecca, Arcangel, 1O1 South, J.S. Soto, Harlan Cage etc. and this Jaded Heart will sound like an average AOR record. Not bad by any means, but not outstanding too !!! Just average. The americans do it still a lot better, a pity there are not many american AOR acts left !

Heavy Harmonies Owner
From: Dan Date: December 3, 2002 at 13:31
It will definitely make my top 5 of 2002. Mecca - solid but overrated, IMHO. Harlan Cage - disappointment compared to previous 2; just doesn't 'grab me'. Hardline - good, but not earth-shattering like the first one. This Jaded Heart is without a doubt the best they've done; it really surprised me...

From: Rycheage Date: January 7, 2003 at 3:45
I repeat for those who missed it the first time....Quite easily the best AOR release of 2002. Hands down!!

From: Muelli Date: January 29, 2003 at 16:56
hey folks! thank you very much for your great comments!! rock on! JADED HEART www.jadedheart.de

From: iaffprofireman Date: March 19, 2003 at 5:33
Absolutely incredible album from a fabulous group! Don't get me wrong when I say this, I'm a very proud American, but Germany rules in melodic rock these days. So many good groups from over there. This is a group that puts out good hard, straight forward, yet very melodic hard rock, and no stinking alternative! If you good folks are looking for a fix of good melodies, hard guitars, and great songs, check this one out. It's a wonderful album.

From: argentino aor Date: April 10, 2003 at 20:04

From: wendal Date: May 2, 2003 at 21:22
I ordered this off NEH after hearing only a single MP3 sample and oh man this is good stuff. Larger than Life is an awesome remake. Bonfire has long been my favorite German melodic hard rock band but this is close. Everyone should have this disc.

From: MelodicBoy Date: May 19, 2003 at 5:29
Have to agree with German melodic rock being top dog. Thanks partly to radio, in the U.S. we are forced to listen to stupid grunge/alternative crap, and that idiotic rap/metal hybrid shit. Meanwhile, cool German bands like Jaded Heart, Bonfire, Frontline, and Fair Warning (RIP) crank out the rock that we love. Maybe someday American radio/record labels will go back to signing rock bands like JH. Until then, it's imports for me.

From: Horacio Date: May 30, 2003 at 18:15
I had read lots of very goods reviews about this album so I went bought it and played it once...twice...and well, it disappointed me. I think it doesn´t bring anything new to the melodic hard rock scene and you can pretty go without it.

From: cruise Date: September 14, 2003 at 15:04
Excellent album with great hooks and a superb production. Probably this bands best album. 9/10

From: John Date: September 25, 2003 at 18:17
To me, this like 'IV Part 2'. It's that good. I didn't even know that 'Larger Than Life' was a boy band cover until my daughter pointed it out. It sure doesn't sound like the typical Backstreet Boys tune. Another 8.5/10.

From: altay Date: September 28, 2003 at 18:33
jaded heart is really playin' from outta this genre.i'm also proud that this bands guitar player(baris kepic)is from turkey(not the animal.the country.)where i'm also.he brought this band a strange, high energy.i also admire the voice .

From: James Date: January 2, 2004 at 23:04
I liked this cd. Very solid album but i liked IV more. To me IV flowed better but both albums are good. This is a very good AOR band.

From: Jordi Date: January 21, 2004 at 13:02
A mi parecer, claro!

From: Jordi Date: January 21, 2004 at 13:07
Mr. MULLER! You belongs to the best band in the world. Our great comments is because you work so hard to bring Jaded Heart at the top of the world. Many thanx for your contribution in the band and I hope to see all the band in Barcelona or Madrid someday. Many thanx, man! Keep cool and keep rockin´like this. A hug from one of the fans that you have around the world!!

From: Date: February 18, 2004 at 4:43
i have to say that of all their records, this is in my opinion their worst album, too grunchy. check out their new one'TRUST'....that`s what JADED HEART is all about. this is without a doubt their best album ever....... keep it up guys

From: Manolo (Apaña!) Date: June 29, 2004 at 12:31

From: romolo Date: January 16, 2005 at 17:19
A gret CD , i only disliked the We'll Drag You Down  beacause it's for me is a New Metal .. and I dislike that, I had suprised wich the Larger Than Life cover, but Hard Rock turns best for everthing and I liked this version. Great album 8.5/10

From: JarWi Date: January 23, 2005 at 16:15
I could waste loads of words on how much i hate (C)rap-metal, but We'll Drag You Down is a real hammer, an outstanding exception in a flood of new breed stuff. Of course this record itself doesn't have much to do with new metal, except for this one tune, so don't worry. The rest is pretty decent too. I wouldn't rate this cd album of the year though, be it 2002 or not, but the question of individual taste is not up for discussion amongst gentlemen ;-)

From: Geoff Date: February 1, 2005 at 23:58
F*cking excellent album! What a ballsy sound they hit us with here! The title track is stunning and one of their best, 'On the rise' is a beautiful ballad, 'Dangerous destiny' is a riff driven monster, and one of my top 5 tracks of 2003, 'I'll be there' is a killer hard rocker and 'Only human' is very nice too. All tracks are great!!! I must say with all sincererity that I believe this CD makes a mockery of the CDs Freddy mentioned above. Killer disc!

From: Erik Date: February 3, 2005 at 6:57
Have to agree with Freddy here. Well at least on the Mecca release. That is way better then this one. Best songs here are On the rise and Only Human. Overrated all in all . 6/10

From: Lovedrive Date: January 6, 2006 at 14:40

From: Metalmusicman Date: December 9, 2006 at 22:07
Jaded Heart are back and not surprisingly they have put out one of the standout albums of the year. Not that you would expect anything less, but this thing is better than you could hope for. Classic Jaded Heart with a heavier edge at times and a huge surprise with the cover of "Larger Than Life". Which, believe it or not, they rock up pretty well. It's the only way I could hear that song! It would be the closest thing to filler on the disc as usual. You know you can't go wrong with this band!!!

From: Melo Date: April 6, 2007 at 9:40
Again, quality all the way ! Not one single bad song here.Sound is great as ever ! The Band is a REAL BAND,and not that kind of projects, that goes to a studio and recorded some songs. They rock live big time ! Wow ! Rock on Boys ! Great Record ! 9,5

From: juan carlos Date: April 11, 2007 at 0:29

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 11, 2007 at 14:13

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 21, 2007 at 11:12

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 21, 2007 at 11:16

From: ferstyx Date: November 30, 2007 at 17:25
On the Rise y Only Human, que temas.

From: ferstyx Date: November 30, 2007 at 17:31

From: hair metal again Date: November 24, 2010 at 1:57
they are one of the best hard rock european bands and they prove that with every release.this one has a great production and many good songs.my favs are the amazing mid tempo "only human " ,the rocker"the journey will never end" and the "dangerous destiny".this is a classic JADED HEART release and i m happy about it

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 27, 2011 at 18:54
Ok here's my comment in english about this JH release...a very pleasant one, maybe not a killer but still pretty enjoyable ...my favourites tracks have to be "I'll Be There" & "These Are The Good Times" but parallely to "The Journey Will Never End","We'll Drag You Down"( rocking track),"Only Human" & "Lucky Son" (both nice ones) & "Larger Than Life" (a curious yet solid cover of The Backstreet Boys)...Bormann doing it great once again vocally talking and the rest of the guys as an splendid back up to him...88/100

From: Japangea Date: August 29, 2011 at 2:31
Not that very flashy but well-done album like Victory with Fernando era.

From: 123charpenay Date: June 15, 2012 at 12:04
marvellous record, wonderful band.his formula is simple super melodic songs, big sound, perfect production a rhtym section in steel ,a fantastic guitarist (baris kepic) and a singer michael bormann, who is one of the best .he plays in the same league than jeff scott soto, steve lee (rip),joe lynn turner, david coverdale for example.i could add bruce brookshire or johnny van zant.with mr bormann all the jaded heart records was absoluty killers.all are masterpiece of melodic hard rock.unfortunatelly this jewel never see the light of day in japan.

From: 123charpenay Date: May 2, 2014 at 12:01
an other jewel in the brilliant discography of jaded heart.the lone jaded heart record s without fillers.all is excellent.finally this record exist in japan version but it s a very very rare cd wich have always a crazy high price.
