| Seventh Crystal's sophomore album improves on their debut, but I think these guys can still do better. This isn't AOR as much as it's melodic hard rock, very modern, with some definite effort put into the songwriting. The production opens strong, hitting its high point early on with the chorus-driven "Higher Ground" and the chugging pace of "Hollow." Then, sadly, things take a turn for the humdrum with the energetic but still forgettable "Million Times" and "My Own Way." The band save their record with the pop rocker "Next Generation" and the excellent outro "Rodeo," but I lost interest getting there. I think Seventh Crystal are worthy contributors to today's melrock scene, but I'm still waiting for them to produce a true star-making release.
