| aaah!this boc in their full force again.great album.some very good moments."the black blade" and "unknown tongue" are best songs on the album.

| The POWERFUL "Black Blade", with its eerie mid-section & menacing vocoder finale, is one of the most diabolical things I have ever heard on a record. In short, I LOVE IT! Sci-fi man Michael Moorcock's presence is felt. "Monsters" reunites BOC with the jazzy side of "Redcap" (from BOC). "The Marshall Plan" is Almost Famous 20 years early. Great fun! "Unknown Tongue" is a grisly, Alice Cooper type of tune. "Hungry Boys" is trite, almost new wave. Overall, a varied CD with lots of thrills n'chills.

| Maybe this is the best from BOC. What a record, original and powerful. This band deserves more respect because they're one of the greatest and most unique bands ever !!!

| BOC moves back to the heavier side with this album. "Black Blade" is awesome. This a good heavy album. "Divine wind" and "Lips in the Hill" are other great metal songs.

| I have always loved the more AOR 80's output from BOC, especially this one 'Fire Of Unknown Origin' the excellent 'Imaginos'. This is one very very fine album and definately their most consistent in the songwriting stakes as it contains some outstanding material in 'Black Blade', Deadline', 'Monsters', 'Unknown Tongue' & the exceptional 'Marshall Plan'- all spiced up with the trademark quirkiness in the lyric department and a few surprises along the way aswell. Brilliant in one word.

| To some, this one didn't help their career because the album didn't have a radio friendly single. "Don't Fear The Reaper" was still strong but "Burnin for You", which would come from the forthcoming "Fires of Unknown Origin" record, was still in the distance. Guess "Deadline" was never considered here. Also, some of the little nuances within the record were due to the trends of the time. (Cough, Cough "Hungry Boys") Nontheless, this record is still mostly heavy & melodic BOC, which for the most part holds up even today. "Lips in the Hills" flat out cranks, as does "Black Blade" & the very creative "Monsters", with it's brief jazzy interludes. Overall, despite the few duds within, this album gets played with max volume.

Decent Record..."Hungry Boys","Fallen Angel" & "Lips In The Hill" are my faves...81/100

| One of the, if not the, best BOC album, visionary, full of ideas, powerful, sophisticated, funny and varied. Came out in '80, I bought it in 1990 and in 2020 I'm still enjoying it big time! Essential!
